    So you know how I said awhile back that I was picking up The Clone Wars again?

    Clone Wars was my childhood. Like, it was my childhood. And also Ninjago but that's a story for another day. I have no memory of this, but my mom tells the story of me constantly insisting my name was Anakin, such that I even carved it into my door at one point - which was weird, considering I had a crush on Ahsoka.

    In retrospect, that's actually... quite problematic.

    But anyways, back to the story. I didn't actually have access to most of the series. We just had the first couple seasons on DVD, and I never really even watched those front to back - I'd just pick out episodes at random to watch epic lightsaber duels and clone troopers blasting out battle droids.

    Then comes Covid. I get sick at one point, and due to a decided lack of rapid testing (y'know... the dark ages), I was confined to my room. Upon request I got the Disney+ account and password, and decided to sink my teeth back into the series to see if it was any good.

    I got a few seasons in. Just past all that boring yawnfest Padme politics stuff. Then I got my negative results back and returned to the real world. I wasn't enjoying it by then, so I didn't really miss it much.

    Fast forward to now. Two... two years later? Three? Blimey. Anyways, I'm getting these videos in my youtube recommend about Star Wars this and that (probably because I'd just come off Andor and had been binging video essays about how god flipping incredible that show was) - one of which in particular being about the politics of star wars. It had a whole section dedicated to the Clone Wars, but I wound up skipping it because a part of me didn't want to be spoiled.

    Then it occured to me.

    Me? Spoiled? A show that came out in 2008?

    I have Disney+! I have time!

    So I start hitting the episodes.

    This show is bloody incredible.

      Gosh, Rebels was my childhood show.  That's the show that I got introduced to the idea of 'can't sleep after watching that episode, it was scary' with.  It really is so good.

      Andor is top notch, though.

    "Mmmmmmm no. We've got a nicer system here." Fadran snapped his fingers, and a freestanding doorway appeared before them all. "Portals!"

    They live in rather good conditions. Their underground societies are very well-developed. Lots of water filtering and such. Outside Sunkane they're vicious warriors, mostly, but often suffer from the fact that their enemies attack during the day.

    It was freezing outside. A harsh, biting wind came from the north. Kris quickly handed out all the heavy coats he'd brought along, along with little potted ferns radiating a small (but noticeable) amount of heat. They had come out of a door built directly into the mountainside, overlooking a jagged cragscape of cliff and stone. Mountain after mountain stole at the horizon, shooting up past the clouds and covered in snow. From the foot each was coated in trees, and past there were the gleaming green fields - but up here that seemed miles away, and instead just the ice waited for them. "Okay!" Kris had to speak loud to be heard in this wind. He reached into his pocket and brought out a single flower: a daisy, pressed onto a paper etched with symbols. With this he summoned the doorway to his supplies, cracking it open to glance at all the plants he'd needed to accumulate for this trip.     Turns out Time Dilation is a wildly exponential function

    After several failed attempts at creating a backwards compatibility equation for it, I eventually brute-forced some numbers to determine that in order to watch The Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions in a moving vessel in the same amount of time as a stationary person watches The Lord of the Rings: Theatrical Editions, you would have to be moving 99.999999666% the speed of light. That is 299792457.99929 m/s.

    That, my friends, is nigh impossible.
