    Either Ellis didn't hear Melody or he simply didn't care, because he weaved around all the bursts of warped space and launched his first attack against the octopus, feinting at one of his tentacles before stabbing at his face.

    Ellis jumped out of the way and dashed forward, completely ignoring the arm and running towards Dr. Who Octopus.

    "There aren't any doctors here." Ellis kept his eyes on Dr. Who Octopus. "First, we avenge her. And Gerald. We avenge them both."

    I seriously doubt that there's anything Ellis could do to save her life at this point, though.

    Ellis took a few deep, shivering breaths, then set his jaw and sniffed. "She will be. If we can save her. We can save her and Gerald, but we need to hurry. Come on: no time to waste." He let out two tears, setting Q's form down. "Let's get them back." Ellis stood, then took Melody's hand and turned back around to look Dr. Who Octopus in the eyes. He held his sword in one hand, and Melody's arm in his other. An impassive stare came over his face, hiding broken sorrow and burning anger. Eyes still on Dr. Who Octopus, he whispered a silent plea to Q's silent form. If we don't save you, Q... then I want you to know that I'll never regret any of this. Another tear spilled down his resolved face. I'll never regret loving you.

    "Q!" Ellis screamed, abandoning Dr. Who Octopus and making a mad dash for her. Unheeding of all the guards, he slid across the ground and caught her falling form, squeezing her close to him. "Q!"
