      Hm.

      Well we were talking about linguism, and our teacher wanted us to go onto youtube to find examples of various speech types. I decided to find as many as possible in "Never Gonna Give You Up" (spoiler alert: there were a lot), and put them into my google doc for the next day.

      We were discussing these the following day, and when he asked for an example of a Commissive Phrase (a form of committment) I offered mine. He was like "Ah, yes. Well, I'm not sure if anyone's heard this song before, so let's play it just in case ;)"

      So he played it in the background while we discussed it ("Never gonna give you up" is a commissive phrase because it concerns more than just the present and, of course, forms a committment). By the end he was like "for review" and it went into the chorus.

      It was awesome.

    I guess I'll explain it: When you sign up for Secret Santa, you're assigned to someone else who also did randomly. Everyone has their own assignment; and everyone has someone assigned to them. Everyone's expected to give/make their assignment a small gift (here on the Shard that's usually a piece of art or something; not something that'd require a mailing address). In the end it's just fun to wonder who's your Secret Santa and what they're getting you; and, of course, it's fun to make someone something too

    The engine was quiet. All the thrusters and main generators were in the cold vacuum of space: all they could hear in here were the faint tremors from what little friction made its way through from the heat. The DM/Fusion engines--as well as all the hardware--were surrounded with joint-alloy glass, so they couldn't hear any of that either. "So..." Schevin looked around. "If I were a vanished robot... where would I be?"

    Schevin and Azgard were offline from all lightspeed communication: the engine, of course, was no place to have such signals bouncing about.
