  1. "I'll just say this," Aolicei announced. "I'm staying with Shana, no matter what you guys decide to do."
  2. “Plants… well, I guess I’ll start with the basics. Plants on world evolved from a kind of bacteria, and have since split into thousands of new groups, but all really follow one main evolutionary line. Past that bacteria were the first green plants, introducing chlorophyll to… pretty much every plant from there. Then there’re small multicellular forms like algae, and later down the line you get moss and ferns and things. Really you don’t get too much variety until the evolution of angiosperms, which split off into dozens of other classes of plants, which in turn have dozens of splitoffs of their own, and so on and on until you get each individual species.” Kris raised a finger. “The first photosynthesizer - that bacteria - was the first to produce Vange. However, it’s a very unrefined version without any real potential for usage. Wealthy vangari sometimes use it as a general supplement to their spellcasting, but you need actual tons of that for it to do much of anything, really. It’s not until you start getting more complex plant forms that the vange output starts to increase or become somewhat distinct. “The line of general-use vange continues, for the most part, up to angiosperms. While each type of plant like ferns and moss and a few other things have little evolutionary trees of their own along the line, they all only really serve to build up to the flowering plants that people use most often in their spellcasting. Ferns, for example, are limited to acting as supplementary agents in most spells used to redirect vange energy or stuff like that; meanwhile magnolias are used directly for conversion of matter between energy states.” He let out another breath. “Does that all make sense so far?”
  3. @Enter a username my guyyyyyyyyyyyyyy @Shining Silhouette
  4. "Quite a few. It's... it's something I really do need to explain first." Kris kept thinking of how best to do that. "Yes, of course, but no methods are anywhere near as cost-effective as simply raising the plants."
  5. "H-hey..." Condipi reached out to gently push Kasha's firearm aside, "heyyyy. Let's... not shoot at people."
  6. "I... oh." Kris's face fell. "I didn't actually tell you what the plants do, did I?"

      • It makes me cry
      • A youtube video of someone playing a video game makes me cry
      • (It's because it's about a younger sibling who's older sibling is in college and can't play with them anymore. I'm the older sibling. I'm in college).
    • Eat breakfast
      • It's 2:30 now. It's lunch.
      • Linner, really.
    • Go to Board Game Club night (7:00) with Vennie (another Sharder who y'all new folks probably don't know).
    • Start with some normal card game flavored with dragons (get third place out of nine people - hehe)
    • Move to One Night Werewolf (also with nine people).

      • Be supplied an unopened basic deck that Vennie just has
      • Realize it has no sleeves (duh) so put it back
      • Instead take another deck that someone else just has
    • Learn the basics (quick learner; am smort)
    • Go first because die roll :l
    • Allow me to explain my deck build to you.
      • So as it turns out, MtG is a very optimized game. I know; who would've thunk. People build their decks around a couple specific mechanics so that each card capitilizes upon each others' for maximum results.
      • Mine was built around this thing where you "exile" cards, which is like killing them but not. Usually it's a permanent thing but this deck is full of cards that are only sorta exiled for awhile until you use them all of a sudden to blow stuff up!
      • Also we were playing "Commander," which is a ruleset that means you have a permanent guy with various abilities. Mine summoned wolves every single time I used my not-exiled cards - which was a lot. I had a lot of wolves.
    • I don't really remember much of the game. I was mostly shooting fireballs at Vennie because they seemed experienced and that was scary. What was crazy was that pretty much all of my not-exiled cards got other cards in addition to the wolf cards; and then some gave you even more cards when you get those cards, and then clone those cards to make more of those cards, and....... I just had so many cards out all the time.
      • Doesn't matter 'cause Vennie nuked them.
    • Take 20+ damage in one turn which apparently means I lose the game.
    • Leave

In Bob’s defense I was right next to them when they saw me eating the pop tarts. They skedaddled for their own health and safety.

      Yeesh, that's a day, alright.

Also, YAY MtG! I congratulations on your first game of EDH (that's slang for Commander). I hope that you continue to play!

  8. “Basically,” Kris began, “all plants generate a chemical called Vange during the photosynthesis process here. That’s uhh…” he glanced at the children in the room, “how plants… how they turn the sun into food. The sunlight has energy, and they use that to combine carbon dioxide and water into sugar. At least, that’s how they do it in most universes… but here the sunlight carries tiny charged particles with it that combine with the same stuff to create this extra chemical. “It doesn’t do much on its own. Without a catalyst, it’s almost entirely inert. Once emitted it just hangs around the plant for awhile before eventually decaying. And usually that’d be fine and dandy but it turns out that animals in this universe - including people - do react to Vange. How and in what ways is… really too complicated for right now, though. Basically, creatures like us can use this chemical to do plant magic.” Kris scratched the back of his head like he always did when he got a little nervous. “Anyways… that’s just how the magic works. The bare basics. Other than that it really doesn’t make much sense chemically. Because each kind of family of plant’s Vangaic properties are unique, carrying different kinds of energies and properties for even individual species. So by using different combinations of plants and interactions, you can do… just about anything, really.” He let out a satisfied puff. “And that’s how it works.”
