    Do you mean separating Harmonium into Atium and Lerasium, or distilling Harmonium or Lerasium/Atium from the mists?

    The Atium mistings were the ones who died against the Kollos, the other mistings that were with Elend's army weren't there. I think they did that because Spook was the last recorded mistborn, and therefore his descendants were the most likely to be allomancers.
