Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
NameIess replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted. You don't get to meet the nightwatcher then. You do, however, get to meet some of the local wildlife. I wish people would wish. -
If an SR soul is not a beyond soul then every human on Scadrial, the Parshmen, Nalthians, and most likely all sentient life in the Cosmere is not actually alive. Do you think that Shards have some connection to the Beyond that allows them to give a human a Beyond soul? They made humans out of investiture, almost exactly the same way as they made humans, the sole difference being humanity's connection to the physical realm. a capital G God did not make most of the humans in the Cosmere, Shards did. Journey before Destination Jokes aside, I actually agree with you on this one. Life by itself is basically meaningless.

I didn't really like it. It felt a bit too condensed. The story felt rushed, and it seemed to be focused more on action that character development. Maybe the later episodes will be better.

Yes. Maybe I should join SSDELPEF.

Let me elaborate a little. Take Nightblood as an example. He is sentient, albeit heavily influenced by his intent. If someone destroyed him, it would be about the same as killing a person. (Although in Nightblood's case he's basically a nuke, so destroying him could be understandable) Same with a sword such as Jack from Magnus Chase. I don't think I've really read many other series with talking swords, but if it can talk intelligently and isn't explicitly stated to be a simulacrum of sapience, it is basically human in worth. In the case of an AI, then in most cases I would say it's not actually sentient, just a good copy of it. But in the case of spren, I don't think that the AI analogy is a good one. In the Cosmere, I would argue that sentience is granted by the spiritual aspect, which is investiture, which is what spren are made of, therefore spren are just as sentient as humans.
-
I would say yes, although it depends on the book.
-
I don't think that your analogy works. I think that it has been established that spren can think and act like any other living being. Sure, they're beings forged from investiture, but everyone in the cosmere is given sentience by investiture. By your logic, (MB)

Except in the mind of top Ghanderflaffle scientist, Albert lierstien. Fortunately for the sake of the Tim jr. the conductor, he wasn't important enough to derail the story for.- 111878 replies

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)

granted. Your bane is that they are only easily survivable for everyone besides you, so everyone gives you odd looks when you go inside during tornados. I wish to be able to breath underwater.
