  1. Yes, I believe this is intentional. Not sure exactly what it means, but here's what Brandon's said about the differences in the KoW prologue:
  2. The elephant had no idea, as he hadn't read the contract.
  3. Unfortunately, the contract stipulated that Nin's apprentice had to kill the elephant's family or be killed himself
  4. And then told him about it and forced him to either get someone to sign it or watch his entire family die.
  5. Unfortunately, he’d missed some fine print.
  6. The elephant pulled out a contract. "Sign this, and you'll gain immense power."
  7. Nin refused to give guidance, stating that he wished for his apprentice to gain wisdom, which meant he must make his own decisions.
  8. Nin's apprentice declined quite rudely, stating a need to continue his quest.
  9. Unfortunately, he didn't consider asking the elephant to move.
  10. Unfortunately, that didn't fix the elephant that was still sitting on him.
  11. Which, considering the planet's low gravity, was... still a million pounds. Okay, maybe Nin's apprentice wasn't totally fine.
  12. Well, the most basic answer is that a gemheart plus the Singer's soul allows for indefinite holding of Investiture, and the Singer's gemhearts were taken because humans like shiny things. (Also, as was said above, the Singers have so much respect for their dead because the humans desecrated Singer corpses in the past in order to take their gemhearts.) Of course, the most basic answer doesn't explain what similar mechanic is happening, or entirely explain why humans would spend time hacking Singers apart to get their gemhearts. That WoB implies that they aren't perfect gemstones exactly, but perhaps they can be fooled into thinking they are still in a Singer's body, and thereby become functionally perfect? That would explain it.
  13. And he was the most overweight elephant on the planet.
  14. Nameless considered taking one of the creatures for later study, but ultimately decided against it.
  15. It took three mirrors and a very annoyed AdoKho to read it.
  16. Unfortunately, Butt Venture ate the pineapple.
  17. This turned out to be the right place to go, surprisingly.
  18. YKYASF when you wonder if you could kill a vampire with a regular stick through the heart as long as you believed it was a stake.
