why is aluminum resistant to investiture? I'm probably gonna get a lot of people saying that this question got RAFOed but what are some of the theories floating out there.

Shallan believes that aluminum is only made via soulcasting, while we have a WoB to not necessarily believe her.
Is that because aluminium is resistant to investiture so as a result you couldn't soul cast it.

Yes with the caveat that the metal is still relatively physically weak, and you have a 7 foot long blade hitting it, so the shardblade would not phase through the aluminum, but it may be broken from a strong enough strike unless alloyed with something for strength.
On top of that do the voidbringers know this.

Could aluminum block a shardblade? Mr.T says there are stories of a metal that can block a shardblade and nightblood is in an aluminum sheath so is it aluminum or something else.

Yes we do. Stormfather says so.
so the nightwatcher is of cultivation right?

Truthwatchers are clearly to cultivation what bondsmiths are to honor. They may be more important then we think
I think both the orders that have the power of progression are connected to cultivation.
and we don't know for sure that all the bondsmith spren are from Honor I think the nightwatcher is from Cultivation (though we don't know for sure if the nightwatcher is one of the Siblings) if she is then it is likely that she is from Cultivation because when Dalinar visits the valley Cultivation refers to the nightwatcher as one of her children. And I think that the other bondsmith spren is from a mixture of Cultivation and Honor.

Yes that is true
that is why I was suggesting that may be when attacking an unmade or basically anyone, he does not feed on their investiture but destroys it.
But I know that investiture can’t be destroyed so that investiture probably becomes free investiture in the cosmere
well, I think he would feed both on the person holding him and the unmade like normal.
(it would also likely make him a lot more powerful because he keeps a lot of the investiture he eats)

I always felt truthwatchers had some ability to see the future without the corruption. They were always described as secretative keeping to themselves ECT. If everyone thought seeing the future is evil you'd keep it to yourself. I've just felt the difference was normal truthwatchers get cultivations future sight. Renerin on the other hand is seeing odiums. Not to much to support this thought but its just my personal impression after reading the books
The biggest problem with that is that the surges the Truthwatcers have are progression and lightweaving. It might be possible that their form of lightweaving has some sort of foresight but im not sure.

Just now, The traveller said:
does he feed on the unmades investiture while destroying it? If so then his holder need not use his own investiture to feed him and he can hold him for a long time without any problem
I thought that too but it seems to me that it would be too easy.

will Szeth be able to use a normal shard blade? Or will nightblood prevent him from using his spren as a shardblade?

14 minutes ago, The traveller said:
Is it possible that when nightblood kills people or will kill unmade, he destroys their innate investiture but for the purposes of feeling himself, he takes investiture from his holder only.
In that case, it would explain that to kill an unmade, you have to hold a lot of investiture
or if you can make an unmade hold nightblood.
I think that if you were to use him to try and kill an unmade the reason you would need so much investiture is that you would need to keep him out long enough for him to be able to suck up the unmade if you hit the unmade with him then put him away it wouldn't work.

could you let the power of the unmade into you and use that power to fule night blood as you kill the unmade?

I just want to hear some theories as to what powers the nightwatcher will grant? A thought that I had is that she may be able to uncorrupt spren because of her connection to cultivation it seems to me that a lot of spren have a connection to cultivation. (I may be off base on this one and if there is already a forum on this sorry).

I do not think that having Dalinar zap the pillar with some stormlight will instantly fix everything(with the Sibiling and the tower).
I agree with that to an extent but I think there is a good chance that it will be part of the solution.

To the best of my knowledge. Every question of that nature has been RAFOed.
that's what I thought but do you think he will be able to or you don't want to speculate.

Dalinar Ascends, right? Like, right then, there.
Brandon Sanderson
I have RAFO'd that. Whether he is Ascending or not is a RAFO.
Questioner
Okay, because I know he kind of mentions from that, I don't know how to say his name but the older guy who has the Diagram--
Brandon Sanderson
Taravangian, yeah. Whether that deserves to be a capital "A" or not is a matter of argument. It can be disputed.
Questioner
I guess my main question would just be Dalinar's now able to pull Stormlight and give it to people now.
Brandon Sanderson
He definitely can. That is a Bondsmith power, so.
Questioner
That is a Bondsmith power, okay.
Brandon Sanderson
That is specifically a Bondsmith power.
Questioner
Because my roommate was saying well, the Stormfather was surprised he could do that or was the Stormfather surprised that he was able to bridge--
Brandon Sanderson
He was surprised by what was happening to Dalinar as a whole.
Questioner
Oh okay, that's what I thought because I was like, because I felt like the Stormlight, that power would be a Bondsmith power.
Brandon Sanderson
Let's say that the Stormfather and Odium were seeing something in Dalinar that, perhaps, the average person watching even who is knowledgeable about Surges would not completely understand... But he will be able to use that power and Bondsmiths in the past have used that same power.
Footnote: Brandon clarified that he might have been unintentionally misleading in his answers to this question during his Stormlight 4 Update 1.
Meanwhile the Stormfather clearly states that Dalinar is the first to do what you describe.
thank you for clarifying that so Dalinar can infuse other KR with stormlight and also somewhat unrelated but do you think Dalinar will be able to use that power to infuse the pilar in the basement of Urithiru or do we have WoB on that.

But I imagine a riverspren probably wouldnt be able to go the the shattered plains for example. Or is it that they could be there on the CR side but they wouldnt manifest on the PR in that area?
Your right I don't think they could go to the shattered plains because of this quote from OB
Quote"And you cant take them-or most other spren-too far from human population centers on our side. They waste away and die for reasons people here don't understand."
this is Shallan talking to Kaladin about Mandras.
I can only assume the same goes for river spren they just can't leave rivers instead of human population centers.

Dalinar can't open those just on command.
How sure are we on that because at the end of OB Kaladin says “Dalinar had been able to summon the strength to overcharge him with Stormlight, though it was obviously exhausting to do so.” Pg. 1211 that seams to me like he had done something like opening a perpendicularity to fill Kaladin with Stormlight.0 -

Keep in mind that to use Nightblood this way (I have large misgivings about the effectiveness of using a Larkin) you would also have to have enough investature to fuel him throughout the experience and if that much is available to you then odds are the Unmade is considerably down the threat level.
Have Dalinar open up a perpendicularity I know we have WoB saying bad things would happen if you did that but they don’t know that and I want to see what would happen.

That poses another question would they be perpetual drunk

She didn't lose the information. She never had it. She released the power, so she never actually held it and so she never gained any of the knowledge that the Lord Ruler did.
I need to reread that part it seams I miss read it.

She could barely get a message of encouragement to get Elend to go to the Pits to find the Terris people. How would she convey technical and detailed information to someone?
I was talking about after the well of ascension.
(edit) but you said she lost all the information after she gave up the power.

My point was that it was not drained. Lirin was in a room of injured people and had at least one infused sphere. If he could use progression even unconsciously it should have manifested at this point and the sphere would have become dun.
fair enough

Elend or anyone else in the crew it is also odd that she never thought about it to her self.

I heard that it was the metal used to kill Adonalsium.
