  1. Honestly fair. That's certainly what I remember you for, but apparently some other things caught on as well.
  2. Has anyone else gone inactive only to come back and everyone remembers someone else for something you used to be famous for? Saying that because apparently @Treamayne is famous for dropping WoBs on new sharders to either prove or disprove their theories. That used to be my thing.
  3. Well at long last something has changed here. For those of you who have already read this I'll just copy the new data here
  4. I have to disagree quite strongly. The number of adaptations that are recognized as merely being good are very small. The number that are actually better than the source? I can count on one hand the number that I'm aware of. And while film does allow you to do some things you can't with a book and vise versa, I honestly feel that that's a shield that adapters use to deflect from criticism. The best reason for a change I've ever seen was that dobby was too expensive for the Harry Potter films to animate so it was easier to have Nevil do it, which I don't even consider a very good reason. I didn't see Dune so I can't say. I'd consider that a failure for GoT honestly. Wheel of Time depends on who you ask. I'm not sure which One Piece you're talking about for sure, but the anime was made by a Japanese company, which is a whole other ballpark. I'd honestly be more excited if it was a Japanese company instead of Apple, though Apple is probably better than most other American ones for this project. Arcane is a fair point I forgot about that one.
  5. I read WoK through OB in a little over a month, and I highly recommend it. I think it really helps keep everything fresh.
  6. I make no promises as Friday is really packed for me but I'll see. If you have a YouTube account you could probably ask yourself.
  7. Stilts would be quite useful. Or they could just do funky camera work, see Harrison Ford.
  8. I wouldn't be too against it myself. I generally don't have a huge issue with violence, but liquidating someone's head with bits of skull and brains in a way that doesn't look like a cheap slasher film using red Kool-aid, while also not being vomit-inducingly realistic is(I think) going to be tricky.
  9. Uh please no that would be beyond terrible. That's actually a really interesting point and it makes me wonder what he'll do with Vin's headbutt in WoA. That's a very brutal scene, but the brutality of it is also important to the plot and Vins' relationships with Elend and Zane. I'm not sure how you handle that without serious rewriting, or maybe very careful camera work
  10. I hate that you put that idea in my head. I was already skeptical of the adaptations. I honestly feel that(and working and writing more books like that precisely for that reason).
  11. Even Brandon says they are of a limited canonical status. Now I take a more inclusive view of their validity than Aliroz, but they are of a lower canonicity than the books are. Also I don't think that making this about the content of the original Mistborn trilogy or whether or not we accept WoBs is a good idea.
  12. Ah, you're Australian. For us it's the 28th still
  13. The 34 posts are for the 29th, today is the 28th. I'd definitely prefer a clean version of the film to the alternative.
  14. The shard just hallucinates like that?
  15. Well he has talked about a Tress movie as well, so I'd say they are in the same camp. EDIT: Dang tomorrow will have a lot of posts
  16. Now what makes you say that?
  17. Me reading this: "I'm one of the oldest active users, you aren't that..." *Checks date* "Woah!" Dang I wasn't aware there were any 2010 users still around.
  18. Dannnnnnnn̈nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnex!

    You're back

      Bro. Whack.

  19. That might depend on just how much time we spend on our particular parts of the shard. I find the largest culture shifts happened in the Cosmere discussions. They also tend to occur more heavily following a recent publication. One thing I like to do is sort threads by the most posts and look at the number and the year, it gets you a pretty good idea as to what the community thought was interesting or controversial in any particular era.
  20. This is a group of book sticklers, the snobby types that always bring up, "the book was better," in every discussion. I don't think we'll end up with the movies replacing the books here.
  21. You were there. You've been here for two years more than he has. Personally I liked the culture best around 2021-2023 that was golden era 17th Shard right there.
  22. That would make it the second time he's written a Mistborn Screenplay. That said previously he hasn't had such a large publicity on the deal, this announcement definitely seems like it will go through. The real question though is whether it will be good or not. That remains to be seen.
  23. I don't think we need to worry about it. Make a subforum for the TV fans and lock them away there. *Evil grin* Alternatively to create an account you have to type in a quote from the books
  24. That's certainly encouraging, but I don't think I'll believe it will be good until I cam see it for myself.
  25. That it will be good mostly. I mean when was the last good big budget Sci-fi/fantasy? The sonic films are the only things that come to mind. Rings of Power, Wheel of time, Game of Thrones, Star Wars etc etc. I mean Brandon recognizes that those were terrible, but that doesn't mean it will avoid all of those problems.
