Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
NottTheBrave replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
Thank you! I got my letter on Monday. They fully approved my refund! It really was a clerical error on their part. They have me hell when I went in to see them, but the tuition committee (or whatever they call themselves) approved my request and dropped all my balance. So it had a happy ending! -
The Red Wedding is an awful lot to bear each time I read it, even when I knew it was coming. That's the only example I can think of at the moment. I don't normally put down books due to being disturbed or upset. I have put plenty down due to not being into them though. Lord knows I've cut off plenty of books in my time.

Leatherbound Editions: A few questions
NottTheBrave replied to NattyBo's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I haven't read it yet! I'm looking forward to it though, as I look forward to all Sanderson novels! Do you actually read your leather bound books, or use them as display pieces? -
Leatherbound Editions: A few questions
NottTheBrave replied to NattyBo's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Oooh warbreaker! I've heard a lot of good things about that book. I'll have to scoop it up soon! -
Saw this today via Greene Daniels news update. Pretty excited. My dad has been trying to get me to read these since the Name of the Wind was originally published. The second we get a concrete date, I'll actually read them! If 2020 gives us Winds of Winter, KK3, and Rhythm of War, it'll be a hell of a year for fantasy!

Tastes really vary so spectacularly. Off the recommendations of so many, I went to buy the first Mortal Instruments book the other day. Before buying it, I sat in a comfy chair and read the first thirty pages. I was in pure agony, and couldn't stand it. Yet, people swear by Cassandra Clare. People will always differ when it comes to basically anything, and I find it funny that anyone feels they have the right to definitevly state that "this author is mediocre" as an objective truth. For all I know, Cassandra Clare's other novels are fantastic. Maybe the book I started gets better after a slump. Maybe it doesn't, but other books in the series do. Maybe she hasn't written anything I'd like currently, but ten years from now she'll write my all time favorite piece of fiction. It's silly to pretend like I know everything.

Are you talking about Daniel Green's new video? If so, I agree with him. Brandon is fantastic. It's way too early for the "he's the greatest fantasy writer of all time!" stuff, but he's damnation good. So yes, a teensy bit overhyped, but also in a way, not hyped enough.

I'd adore a leather bound Way of Kings!
-
Pardon my ignorance, but how do I set this as my avatar?
-
Oooh this is a fun idea! Love it! I'll take one too if you don't mind :3
-
Oh I'm sure I'll be done and finished quicker than I want to be! I really love the characters in all of the Sanderson stories I've read. It really brings me back to when I was so in love with reading when I was young, and devoured everything put in front of me.
-
Really looking forward to this! Got lucky and managed to order a collectors edition even! Love the cast, love Kojima, really hoping this delivers.
-
Nice! The only two Sanderson works ive finished are Way of King, and Final Empire. I’ve still got a long way to go!
-
Finished Mistborn: The Final Empire a little bit ago! Absolutely fantastic. I really fell in love with these characters. I do think the last... fifty or so pages felt a bit too rushed. Those events could easily have spanned another 100-150 pages and I think it might have improved that act of the story. Even so, it was still really damnation good, and I'm really looking forward to Well of Ascension, and Hero of Ages! Going to jump back into WoR before I start those though.

What are you playing right now?
NottTheBrave replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Been bouncing around a little bit of Call of Duty, Witcher 3, Days Gone, and this week I bought FF12 on switch, so that as well. -
Not necessarily an update on me (I'm still reading Mistborn, nearly finished!) but something I'm happy with. I got my mom to start Way of Kings while she was up to visit for Memorial Day, and she's almost done! She'll finish it tonight, so we went out and got her Words of Radiance today! Very excited to have gotten her into it!

The links are no longer working. Got any active ones, I'd love to check these out!

Today is going to be a fun day. I dropped out of my university last semester. Well, turns out they kept me registered for this semester anyways, and I now owe several grand. I'm going in to talk to the office about the fact that I had requested to drop out the previous semester, and they apparently just decided to not listen to me even though they said they would. -
Finished The Last Wish. Loved it! While out today, I bought Sword of Destiny and Time of Contempt. Already had Blood of Elves. I'll get to them soon. Went back to Mistborn and I'm already hooked back into that. I'll finish Mistborn and then jump back into Words of Radiance.

I haven't read emperors soul, so I suppose not, lol. Either way, I'd take whatever they make, as long as it's not in the FromSoftware Souls style. I adore the Souls trilogy (plus demons) and Bloodborne is one of my favorite games of all time. I'm burnt out though. Sekiro did nothing for me, and I'm just quite over the frustration of their games. Except Bloodborne 2. I'll play that.
-
Nearly finished with The Last Wish, a collection of short stories introducing the Witcher. I've had it partially started for ages, and felt like knocking something out real quick while working on Words of Radiance. I'll have finished the whole thing in about two days. It's nice to knock out some smaller books while working on a bigger one.
-
I'd like a game that doesn't raise my blood pressure to play. I'd certainly like a game, but I think a dev like CDProjekt Red would be more equipped to make an interesting mass market game that would get new fans of Sandersons works.

Game of Thrones (Spoilers for the latest episodes)
NottTheBrave replied to Wander89's topic in Entertainment Discussion
It's also incredibly hypocritical. At this point, nearly every single main character has killed evil people in the series. The logic that "good person killed bad person and that's bad" is incredibly non-sensical. The writers basically treat Arya as a god, and that is the entierity of her character. Good girl kills all the bad guys. Except they didn't try to phone in a nonsense message that we're all awful people for having liked Arya. -
Star Wars KOTOR Movie In Development?
NottTheBrave replied to Use the Falchion's topic in Entertainment Discussion
An Old Republic set of films probably has me the most excited out of everything they could do theatrically. But how will they do it? Start at the games startpoint? Earlier? There's so much lore and character there. There's a lot to adapt if they want to.
