Noticed some nice fantasy references in Trails in the Sky SC and 3rd so far. Obvious one is the Wheel of Time. Also, in the PSP version of Trails SC, one of the revive spells is called Athelas. I see in the PC version/3rd that's changed to just Thelas. Wonder if the Tolkien estate sent Nihon Falcom a nice little letter about that :-) I'm sure I've missed others in the first two games and few chapters of 3rd I've played so far. In any case, I really enjoy the orbment magic system now that I get it. It reminds me of materia from FF7, both in terms of looks and also how equipping it works. I also like the (what I can only assume) are nods to Xenogears - granted, that could just be the edgy borrowing of Judeo-Christian names and iconography, but the Merkabah's being prominent is one example. So far, my favorite character is Olivier, by leaps and bounds. Seig is pretty awesome, too Trails in the Sky SC Chapter 8/end spoilers

The writing is Trails in the Sky 3rd is very funny, in a good way. I’ve had several real laugh out loud moments. I’m really enjoying playing with all these secondary cast members.

lol, I got the bug, and with the pandemic, even more time than normal on my hands to game. Bring on the quality JRPG dialogue! Loving the ride so far. At some point I'll actually do a quality post rather than stream of consciousness, but glad I finally got into the series.

Goes without saying but having jumped into Trails 3rd on PC after a couple of ported psp on vita games, I’m almost dizzy with the frame rate and screen size haha. Kinda a nice change of pace so far in the prologue with a new main character and sidekick! The game is gorgeous in 4K, I love the art/pixel work.

My God the finale chapter of Trails SC just keeps going. Too much of a good thing. Come on. Wrap it up quicker after the billionth boss fight

Wow. Chapter 8 in Trails SC was mind blowing. No idea how far I have to go in the finale but I’m really enjoying this game. Going to jump into FC today on PC, if I am able to wrap SC up!

Well, while they’re here, lemme twist their arm and say read some Sanderson between Kiseki games! as for me, I’m about 24 hours into trails in the Sky SC. Still digging it. Much better pacing than part 1!

Today is the 35th anniversary of the franchise, first release in Japan.

Been playing Trails in the Sky and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. I'm super hyped about the Triangle Strategy Game (working title) Square Enix announced on the Nintendo Direct yesterday. Looks like a spiritual successor to FFT or Vagrant Story, with HD2D Octopath Traveler aesthetic.

Yeah, not gonna lie, I love JRPGS, and dont mind a slow burn, but man, Trails 1 was the slowest of all burns. Thank goodness the character development kept me interested. I'm eager now having seen the end of part 1 to find out where this is all going. I'm still planning on working my way up to the crossbell PC fan translations, and then starting on Trails of Cold Steel. I already have Cold Steel 1 and 2 on my Vita, and 3 on Switch, will probably get 4 on Switch as well. I'd love to double dip and get all these on PC, but they really dont ever seem to go on deep sale!

After bouncing off it 2-3 times, I finally played through and finished Trails in the Sky. Gonna start Trails SC tonight.

Well, I hope that's true. I certainly am left feeling that Brandon wants us to think that Rock is dead, at least. But such a casual throwaway line...I still think he's alive and kicking. Just not "Rock" anymore.

I searched for discussion of this but couldn’t find a specific thread. Was Rock executed? In chapter 114, we find out that: “Skar and Drehy had relayed the news after returning to the Shattered Plains. It seemed Kaladin wouldn’t be seeing Rock again.” Maybe I’m being pessimistic, and Brandon wouldn’t kill Rock offscreen like that, but I dunno, sounds pretty definite. What is the consensus here?

My new PC is all set up since last night and holllllly cow what a monster. I love it. Star Wars Squadrons is a great game btw, especially at its lower price point ($40).

I have a new gaming PC set to come on Monday and I'm sooooooooooo psyched to play Star Wars Squadrons on it, not to mention Cyberpunk 2077 next month(!! where is the time going!?). My plan this next gen is PC for multiplatform games, PS5 for sony first party, Switch/Switch Pro for Nintendo first party and multiplatform JRPGS. My new PC is a beast so I expect it to handle things better than PS5 or XSX will. Nothing makes me feel like a kid again quite like new gaming hardware. CANT WAIT

@Use the Falchion are you playing P5 Royal or P5 Vanilla? I plat'd the Vanilla, I just dont have the heart (nor do I want to pay) for largely the same game with a little additional content.

That FF16 trailer was HOT. I've got my PS5 preorder and a new PC preorder locked in. Lets go, next gen! Can't wait to play the rebuilt Demon's Souls.
