Playing Tales from Arise.

The entire series so far is on sale on GOG with all historic lows, for anyone looking to jump in on PC and or double dip. Trails in the Sky is only $10 for those who want a taste of the first game that hooked us all…

Regarding the end of ROW and whether Hoid was conned or did the conning, I’m in the latter camp. I only skimmed the thread but I’d also like to mention the theory floating around that the coin Hoid uses in the scene immediately prior to confronting Odium is an unkeyed metalmind which had backups of his memories, meaning he anticipated Odium attacking his breaths.

There’s lots of theories out there about where is best to start. I’m one of the few that thinks it doesn’t matter. Whatever your gateway drug into the cosmere is, is fine. Sure, there’s a few connections you’ll miss, but I’m assuming most readers will at least have re-read or read a detailed summary of the books which point these out afterwards.
i started with Stormlight and then read everything else.

Started Secret History since apparently the last 500 pages of RoW are better if you have, and it's a bit weird. I loved Kelsier back when I read TFE. Now at times I like him a lot and at times I dislike him a lot. I guess it's a good thing but it's a weird change in perception.
Oh boy oh boy, my favorite novella in the cosmere. What did you think? Feel free to post on my profile or whatever if you wanna do open spoilers

This scene hit me, but not in a sad way: I was storming PISSED at Moash. He’ll get his, one day…grrrr

"What's a man's life worth?" in Way of Kings.
"What's the most important step a man can take? Always the next one." in Oathbringer.
Hoid's stories in general. From "Fleet kept running!" over The Dog and the Dragon to The Girl Who Stood Up.
Definitely the Fourth Ideal, especially with Teft's "Say it, lad!" thrown in there.
Kelsier's death, especially Vin's reaction to it.
Their short reunion in the Cognitive Realm.
Marsh managing to pull the earring and Vin exploding into Preservation's power.
The Catacendre, of course.
Ham didn't die, and Kelsier didn't watch Dox die, he was told by Leras after the fact, so that scene's probably what you mean? It is impactful!
Yes. Thank you for correcting my faulty memory! When Leras tells Kel that Dox cursed his name as he died…I had to put the book down. Just ROUGHED me up.

I thought of another one in Secret History. When Kelsier is watching Dox, Ham, etc die. But specifically Dox cursing Kelsier as he died, that really hits me hard.

Thanks for sharing, this is an incredible theory and I’m on board with it.

Re-reading Mistborn, from the Final Empire to Bands of Mourning. Some of it on audio, tho.

For me it was in the Stormlight Archives. This scene from RoW had me sobbing:
The meeting between Kaldin and Tien right before Kal declared his 4th ideal. All in all one of the most powerful scenes I ever read.
The scenes you talk about are also very good, to say the least, but for me the one above hit home the most.
That is an excellent one, and one I totally forgot in the context of this post! Yeah, it DID get pretty dusty in here when I read that scene .
Also from RoW, Raboniel’s entire arc and motivation are rather tragic overall. Didn’t move me to tears, but certainly made me blue.

Thinking I might give Final Fantasy III pixel remaster a go today.

I'm re-reading Mistborn series 1 right now and I absolutely choke up like nothing else every time Kelsier leaves Vin - "You still have some things to learn about friendship, Vin. I hope someday you realize what they are." The bookend scene to this one in Secret History, where Vin turns the line around on Kelsier before choosing to go to the Beyond with Elend also gets me equally. Something about the way Brandon wrote these parts just really hits home, but I also feel it's super impactful to me just because Kel and Vin are among Brandon's best developed characters
I wouldn't even say The Final Empire is my favorite book in the Cosmere, but I don't think anything has had the emotional impact that that scene and line has on me every time I read or hear it. Gun to my head, I'd probably choose Stormlight as my favorite Cosmere series, but I really can't say anything in it has ever made me cry like these scenes. On the tragedy scale, Vasher's backstory is also pretty sad, but since we don't really see it, I guess it hasn't impacted me the same. Wax killing Lessie didn't impact me the same way because I had no idea who either were, yet. Though I would say overall, I sense some melancholy in all of the Mistborn books that I don't really pick up in others.
Anyway, I just wanted to get the emotions out there and off my chest, but also see what moments have impacted folks here in different ways. Am I forgetting something obvious in other books? Have you cried during other Cosmere scenes?

That's weird. Most fan translators drop the project as soon as an official release is announced.
Welp, NISA already sent them a C&D, so it’s dead, Jim

Looks like we might have an actual fan translation of Reverie by early next spring, if this comes together.

Trying to find my groove in another game, since I finished the Kiseki (so far) series. I think I might go back and replay The Last of Us 2, the 60FPS free update sounds pretty nice. I also haven’t played FF7 remake new chapter (inter grade), so may go in that direction.

I really don’t know what to play tonight haha. I’ve been chipping away here so long…

Wrapped CSIV true ending last night. I found it to be a satisfying conclusion to that arc.
Wow. I started this journey with Trails in the Sky on my vita back in late January. I guess I’m fully initiated into Kiseki, now. Gonna be a long wait for Reverie and Kuro, but I’ve been waiting for various games my whole life, so I’ll make due.
after I’ve had some time to digest maybe I’ll post a game ranking and a lot of spoilered thoughts. Overall, I’m really glad I got over bouncing off the series because I didn’t understand the ornament system. In terms of just character design and battle systems, the entire series ranks very highly for me among JRPGs.0 -
Oh my god, ALL THE TEARS
CSIV act 3 stuff
Rutger and Fie’s last goodbye. Maybe it’s cause I’m a dad, but I’m bawling
Not quite Mistborn 3/Secret History levels of ugly crying here, but we close0 -
Started Act 3 of CSIV last night. A certain boss was a major roadblock for me, but I was pretty sleepy. Hopefully I can manage tonight. I’m not under level AFAIK and I’ve got great gear and equipment, but.,,
boss spoiler:
Crimson Roselia as the Holy Beast in the Luna shrine is no joke. Since I was tired I didn’t mess with changing accessories to prevent status effects and pretty much got delayed into oblivion.

Still plugging my way through CSIV.
Having so many characters to choose from is fun, but also kinda sucks, cause I'm always leaving out someone I want to have in the party.
Currently, story wise, I'm at
The Pentagruel, after liberating Leeves. So far, still enjoying the game. Especially like that I finally got to see all of both class VIIs, the SSS, and the Bright crew all together at once.

Enjoy the conclusion, it's quite a ride to the finish!
Yeah, I’m going to try and take it really slow, because once I finish I’m gonna be waiting for new Kiseki like the rest of y’all.
I wish I could put together more coherent thoughts on why I enjoyed CS3 so much. The mixed cast of old and new class VII was certainly one. I also feel like you get more answers in one chapter of CS3 than you get in CS1/2 combined. The nods in the game for having played the Crossbell games is awesome, too. So many little cameos, references, etc.
One thing that shocked me was the death ofOlivert
.
]So many people come back from the dead in this series I’m not sure whether I hope it’s not permanent because that person is one of my favorite characters, or that I do hope it’s permanent because it would be one of the most sad and poignant and evil things that has happened so far.
I played a bit of the prologue for CS4 today so far and I had to stop because I’m just having so much fun with the cameos and playable characters from past games. Feels like the best kinda fan service.

Ok y’all should remember since I’ve said multiple times in thread that I’m console only. I’m very excited now about that new Steam Deck. Getting access to these games ensures I will buy a unit.
Yeah, I got a preorder in for Q2 next year. Since my steam library is extensive and switch leaves a lot to be desired (IMO), I’m excited. I think this will be the definitive way to experience the early Trails games, best of all worlds.

Yeah, I’m playing on PC, so not sure. I like the game overall so far!
