Postmortal consequences of hemalurgy with respect to a emotional Allomancy
Karger replied to Oltux72's question in Cosmere Q&A
Probably not? A returned is a CS not a spiritual one. They copy your self image not your soul. Also your are now much more heavily invested. That may make you harder to control. -
I personally hope it is not one dramatic big thing. I want Dalinar to notice that Kaladin is slipping and reassign him. The drama does not seem in keeping with Kaladin's struggle. It is not one big problem that is overwhelming him. He is just getting pretty close to the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Laying Down the Shards: Two Recreance theories
Karger replied to Aeshdan's topic in Stormlight Archive
I can't image that in over three thousand years no radiant of third ideal or higher over break their oaths. Yes thank you! Rshara got the WoB. I was correct. -
Do either of those count? Both of those refer to thinks people are "saying." David's formal education was limited. It makes sense he would make grammatical errors.

The process of storing power in a metal effectively changes the metal itself. For gold it turns from regular gold(burning gives visions of the past) to invested healing gold(burning heals). Miles uses his feruchemical bloodmaker abilities to create invested healing gold metalminds and then burns them with his misting augur ability. Burning depletes his stock of gold which is why he always needs more.

Laying Down the Shards: Two Recreance theories
Karger replied to Aeshdan's topic in Stormlight Archive
I can't find it either. But consider. Radiants of a third oath or higher must have broken oaths before at sometime during the several thousand year history. They would have known about dead blades. We know that they were not perfect. One of them had to executed for fraternization with the enemy according to WoR. -
Either would make sense. We don't really know how Urithiru works or the surge of transportation for that matter.
-
In this case I actually agree. If what was suggested was a concern the Radiants would have been stupid not to develop a countermeasure against it.

Laying Down the Shards: Two Recreance theories
Karger replied to Aeshdan's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think there is a WoB about this. There were a few but they were rare. This I find interesting. It also jives well with them leaving a history behind and not destroying the tower first. A warning and a guide just in case. -
On his last facebook post we got half a map. More cities in northern roshar and the implication that Brandon does not want us to see something in the western half of the map.
-
That is certainly one possibility.
-
No. Not exactly. The Heralds predate the spren bonding according to the Stormfather. Also we saw that he lived through a desolation in Dalinar's visions.
-
I agree. To go further live plate might be able to call fresh spren from across shadesmar to strengthen itself or recall the spren that have broken off as needed.

There are exactly four.

Torr's reread says this.

I think this might be a bigger problem then you realize. As long as Odium hears the challenge directly I think it still counts. Won't work. They locked the Oathgate from the other side. I don't think this is worth it. A few hundred humans could stall any number of enemies indefinitely down there. If they collapse the tunnel everyone you sent is wasted. Fliers can't do much damage from outside and a limited amount inside. Shardbearers can't hold ground. This would sacrifice a large number of Skybreakers for no real gain. Also if a radiant can reach the oathgate in time you might have to deal with tens of thousands of reinforcements showing up.

We talk a lot about this. That was my theory and a bunch of other people's

I am cool. Nobody else here is tho

I think this will probably be Kaladin's regression arc. He will travel a lot(perhaps delivering supplies like soulcasters and gemstones) to various parts of roshar and talk to radiants, ordinary people, and others from his past(I am thinking Tarah and sergeant Hav). He will look for answers but I doubt he will find any. Eventually this will prompt him to ask the right question and he will swear his ideal and then do what he needs to.

We don't know about the southern one and I imagine people do notice. Just not enough to be a big deal yet. They may be importing a lot of things. Breath, ideas, news, skilled laborers, works of art, or war materials like gold that are less valuable in pre industrial societies with a smaller population.

Truthwatcher Oaths(Like Willshaper Oaths based on what we have)
Karger replied to Karger's topic in Stormlight Archive
I did see that and I do view them as semi cannon but Brandon might have reason to refine or slightly alter them so I am going to wait a bit longer. -
I am both by quiz and temperament a Lightweaver. I have no theory on Lightweaver oaths as they are subjective and different from those of the other orders however I may as well give a my own opinion on our development. To do so I will be using the Hero's journey a summary of which can be found here for those who are not familiar. Almost every Hero begins a journey in the ordinary world(traditionally this is a farm boy but variation is of course applicable). The first and perhaps most important oddity of Lightweavers is that regardless of our profession or geographic location we do not really live in the ordinary world at the beginning of our adventure. A Lightweaver's mind is a vibrant Neverland. It contains myriad and fantastic, creatures, locations, and adventures of all kinds. I call this a "liar's palace." To us the call to adventure actually comes from the normal world. The mad place that others call ordinary. The real world can be a dangerous place for a Lightweaver. Our self image usually suffers from it. For Shallan it was desperation and financial need that drove her. For Elhokar it was a desire to prove himself. The reason for the call to adventure can be for many reasons. Sometimes they are mundane. A Lightweaver might have to engage more with the mundane because of financial reasons or because they have fallen in love or because they desire to prove themselves. We might resist these calls but eventually we usually accept. Another of our common oddities is a recklessness and curiosity that prompts us to do things we may end up regretting latter. Shallan engages in a foolhardy attempt to steal a soulcaster. Elhokar in a brash plan to save his kingdom. Both have cause to regret their actions. Traditionally a hero meets their mentor at this point. A Lightweaver's mentor is a cryptic. For most other heroes the mentor is a figure who understands the hero do to a common experience. Lightweavers instead get a being who can't understand lies any better then the Lightweaver can understand "objective truth." The cryptic can't really help the Lightweaver much beyond telling them what they need to do to advance and making them aware of what is holding them back. As Pattern says. "You cannot keep all the lies. Only the most important." This is the moment when the Lightweaver has to cross the threshold. Admit or give up a lie. Shallan had to give up her innocents. Prior to her journey Shallan's lies allowed her to be a quipping, naive, friendly, sister with an overbearing father and several loved brothers. I have to go now but I will post more later.

Welcome, favorite magic system?

It would be cool if it was somehow Venli but I doubt it. Nale would also be cool. (Two birds one stone) but I don't think we have a better candidate then Moash.
