  1. That’s true, but the Thrill was fading for Dalinar by that point, which means that Nergaoul was leaving.
  2. Is he a weird case? The other two Bondsmiths would also have to be tied to powerful spren, like the Nightwatcher and whatever the third one is (the Sibling?) Maybe it’s because he’s able to manipulate whatever holds together and separates the Realms? Because he has adhesion? That would mean Windrunners could do that too, which they can’t
  3. So pulling power from the Spiritual Realm is a Bondsmith power, but combining the three Realms was something different, like a temporary Ascension. Pulling power from the Spiritual Realm isn’t a Surge, though. Can the Bondsmiths just do it because they’re special, then?
  4. @CrazyRioterCould there have been some kind of permanent alteration to gravity on Shinovar? This seems highly unlikely, though. That would mean that there is someone or something powering a constant use of the gravitation surge, and that would require a lot of Stormlight, which the Shin may not even get as they live in a place the storms don’t really reach. This gravity theory could be it, but like you said, the Shin should have gotten taller as well.
  5. I don’t think Nergaoul was with Kaladin at any point other than in Thaylen City. I think Nergaoul was involved in the Jah Keved succession war, and probably has much to do with that scene where Taravangian is walking through a field full of dead bodies. Dalinar also mentioned that most armies collapse after 10% losses, but the Vedens had kept fighting for an inordinately long time. The succession was happened in Words of Radiance, so by the middle of Oathbringer, Nergaoul wouldn’t still be on the Shattered Plains. The plateau runs against Parshendi were over and there was no reason to be there anymore.
  6. Kaladin was in Amaram’s army, while Nergaoul was in the Shattered Plains. While he was a bridgeman, he would have no reason to feel the Thrill as he didn’t fight. I guess he maybe could have been able to feel it while fighting as Dalinar’s bodyguard, but I don’t think he really was fighting that many people. If you think about it, the Thrill seems to arise during battle against many enemies, not fending off a few people. Not to mention, Nergaoul would have moved to Jah Keved by this time. Nergaol was definitely in Jah Keved by the time Kaladin became a full Radiant and moved to Urithiru. The only time should’ve felt the Thrill would be at the Battle for Thaylen City, where he was fighting Amaram and the Fused. In general, he just seems to have not been in the right place at the right time and doing the right thing in order to experience the Thrill, though Syl does have something to do with it as well.
  7. Ok, so this really has no impact on the story whatsoever, but it’s been on my mind. In Oathbringer, Jasnah reveals that Roshar originally belonged to the listeners, and that humans eventually invaded. Someone (I think it was also Jasnah, though it might’ve been Odium) said that Shinovar was given to the humans as a place where they could live in a similar environment as their native one, where the humans plants could grow and they could thrive. Most obviously moved on from Shinovar, and settled elsewhere. However, if Shinovar was the equivalent of their Rosharan homeland, then why are the Shin short compared to everyone else? Seeing as the Shin would have no obvious catalyst for a significant change in stature (their environment was the same on Roshar as it was before Roshar), the other Rosharans would have had to have grown in order to adapt to their new environment, though the reason they would need to adapt why remains a mystery to me. A second theory is that before leaving their previous planet, the humans had different nationalities, and this carried over when they took over Roshar. This theory seems the most likely, and would explain why the people in the homeland are comparatively short, as they wouldn’t accurately represent the entire pre-Roshar population. Another possibility is that the different countries were founded by a few people, and the different genes carried through generations. This theory makes less sense, however, as the humans probably had to fight the listeners in order to take over Roshar, and that couldn’t be done by a few people, meaning that a few peoples’ similar genes couldn’t control the genes of the whole country.
  8. Yeah you're right my math was very off on that one, sorry! My brain loves the complex stuff, but messes up way too often on simple math : ) You're probably right about this one, though I still stick with my overall statement about Kaladin having advantage in a ranged fight because of the Reverse Lashing. Now that I think about it though, Vin's weight is behind the metal she's throwing, so would that mean that the Reverse Lashing would have to be stronger than the force of her weight?
  9. Was she actually confirmed as bisexual? I thought Brandon just said that she had "latent bi tendencies." People talk about her fawning over Jasnah, but it's really about Jasnah's looks, so that could just be her admiring Jasnah, especially since she's an artist an has an eye for things that look good. Or she really is bisexual; I don't claim to know.
  10. Actually, Reverse Lashings require the least Stormlight of all. From the Ars Arcanum on Reverse Lashings: This is not true; Windrunners can Lash things to a point. In the prologue of Way of Kings, Szeth Lashed himself to a specific point in space. I don’t know if moving the point of fixation will affect the Lashing once the projectile is launched, but this system does seem to have more accurate aim than simply pushing an object away from you. If I roll a barrel towards someone, it may or may not go in the direction I intended. However, if I tow a barrel towards me with a rope, it would be hard for the barrel to not come to me. You also mentioned that Kaladin would run out of projectiles, though he could just fire back whatever metal Vin throws at him. Lastly, you said that It would take multiple Lashings in order to create effective projectiles. This, however, depends on the distance. You have to remember that Lashing isn’t flying, it’s falling. If a rock or piece of debris falls on you from a few inches in the air, it probably won’t hurt. If that rock falls on you from 10 meters in the air... that rock is traveling at 98 m/s. Ouch. So if Kaladin is really close to Vin, it won’t hurt her much; but for every meter that Kaladin travels away from Vin, that projectile is traveling 9.8 m/s faster (this is just physics btw in case anyone’s confused as 9.8 m/s squared is the acceleration of gravity, and, again, Lashing is simply falling in the wrong direction).
  11. I’ve heard and said a lot about this already, so I’ll just say this: I’ve heard sooo many people complaining that adding Kaladin into the love triangle did nothing but agitate Shadolin shippers and get the Shalladin shippers hopes up, and they’re right that Kaladin didn’t have an impact. I don’t think Brandon is capable of writing or saying something that isn’t dripping with meaning and foreshadowing, so I think that this triangle isn’t over. Maybe for now, but things will certainly open back up again.
  12. This question has probably been asked before, but does traveling between worlds change your investiture? I was wondering because Nightblood fed on Breaths, but then was able to feed on Stormlight when it was transported to Roshar. Was Nightblood designed in a way that would allow it to be invested in different ways, or is investiture somehow changed when you travel to another world?
  13. I disagree. Again, Kaladin definitely has the advantage with a ranged fight, as Kaladin can use his Lashings to fire more than metal. Also, Basic Lashings work by changing gravity and affixing it to a certain direction or point, but Steelpushes just push the metal away from you. Kaladin could just aim stuff at Vin with increased accuracy, as the projectiles are essentially falling in her direction. Kaladin could use Reverse Lashings to avoid her metal. Kaladin could win this one.
  14. No. In a ranged fight, Kaladin has every advantage. Vin can shoot metal. Kaladin can shoot... pretty much anything. Kaladin can deflect shots with reverse Lashings. Vin cannot. Kaladin can also fly away to give himself time to heal. In a close fight, he might have advantage as well. He is a highly skilled soldier, and could heal injuries. He also can summon a versatile weapon/shield. Vin’s only advantage is strength and the fact that she doesn’t need to touch something to make it move. Oh, and tin, but that isn’t really useful at a distance.
  15. I think you all are forgetting that Kaladin can heal almost any wound and has a Shardblade. This fight could really go either way. If Vin can deal a critical injury, then she’ll probably win; same with Kal, except that it’s much easier to ruin a vial of metals than a “bag” of Stormlight. Kaladin also has much more mobility in the sky than Vin, as well as a wider range of projectiles and more control over the speed/force of those projectiles, and Kaladin’s reverse Lashing gives him a serious edge when it comes to dodging/diverting said projectiles. While pewter grants Bin superior strength, Kaladin has superior combat skill. I might be putting my money on Kaladin on this one. I also haven’t read Mistborn in a while so Vin’s awesomeness isn’t fresh in my mind, and I wasn’t accounting for atium. For the bonus round, I definitely say Kaladin. Stormlight heals, whereas pewter only lets Vin power through injuries.Kaladin could always go where Vin can’t reach, as his Lashings are less limited than Steelpushes/Ironpulls. Again, however, atium is dangerous and a different story, though I guess it doesn’t matter what you can see in the future if you can’t stop it.
  16. Blonde I’d say, as it represents joy and excitement
  17. Oops posted this in the wrong place oh well
  18. Could someone theoretically use Hemalurgy on a Mistborn, Knights Radiant, a Feruchemist, Awakener, etc.? They could become like a god. What about using Hemalurgy on a Shard?
  19. So when Dalinar unites the Realms, he refers to the Spiritual Realm not as a place, but all places at once. Since it seems that Bondsmiths are able to join the Realms and create portals between them, could one theoretically travel through a Bondsmith’s perpendicularity and use the Spiritual Realm for instantaneous travel? I don’t think this would work for going anywhere, as the rift only connects to one place in the Physical Realm, but one might be able to travel to a different perpendicularity, as that path to the Physical/Cognitive Realm already exists. If this is possible, however, that would make Bondsmiths extremely powerful. It actually makes me wonder how Radiants with the Transportation Surge travel, though I’m pretty sure this isn’t it.
  20. Oh thanks I was sure there was a word for it but Shardbearer just came to mind
  21. This isn’t completely related to the question, but it does involve Odium and the Voidbringers. So we know now that the Voidbringers are humans, not parshmen. So why, then, did Odium, god of the Voidbringers (as Syl said), side with the parshmen during the whole Oathbringer conflict? And why did Honor help the people who took the world of others, enslaving them? This behavior seems the opposite of “honorable behavior,” as the honorable thing to do would be helping the listeners fend off the invaders.
  22. I’m still a little new to the Cosmere, but isn’t Ascension when someone becomes a Shardbearer (like someone with a Shard, not the other kind of Shardbearer with Blade/Plate)? If that’s correct, then what Shard’s power would Dalinar be holding? Honor is dead/splintered, so I don’t know if Dalinar could hold his power. When Dalinar combined the three Realms, he said “‘I am Unity.’” Unity with a capital U. Could he be referring to another Shard, or perhaps have somehow pulled together the splintered Honor into something else, or part of something else? This is the theory of a friend of mine. She also believes that maybe if all of the Bondsmiths of splintered Shards got together, they might actually be able to create a Shard from the splinters of the old ones, and that Shard would be Unity. I don’t know how likely this theory is, but I guess it’s worth consideration.
  23. I hope that Adolin won’t become an Edgedancer. I feel as though everyone is becoming a Knight Radiant, and I want at least one person to remain a normal human being. I don’t think he could become a Skybreakers, as, regardless of one’s personality, it’s about the spren. The spren are attracted to certain people (ex. Honorspren are attracted to honorable people, liespren are attracted to liars) but I doubt Adolin could change the kind of spren that Maya is, no matter his personality or preferred order. She is cultivationspren, so, if they bonded, he would become an Edgedancer. That won’t happen though, unless something happens to Adolin to break him (apparently you must be broken to become a Knight Radiant).
  24. I couldn’t have said it better myself. This also brings up something that I’ve heard a few people talk about. When Adolin chose “Shallan” and Shallan chose him, the person he chose wasn’t any more “Shallan” than Veil, though maybe a bit more than Radiant (Radiant is partially a manifestation of Shallan, but also what Shallan think people expect of a Knight Radiant). When he chose “Shallan” over Veil and Radiant, it shows that he doesn’t really know and love her, just the part of herself that she presents to society.
