  1. Nightblood was an ordinary sword that was Awakened and given the command to “destroy evil.” I’d assume that the other special things like how he makes good people sick and bad/greedy people lustful, or that he feeds off of investiture and turns people he touches into smoke when unsheathed was either built into the design of Nightblood, or was an interesting interpretation by the sword of what was necessary to allow Nightblood to obey the Command “destroy evil.”
  2. @StormyAngelI know I’m really late as I just finished Arcanum Unbounded, but if the Threnodites are dead, then what are the shades? Double dead?
  3. Maybe not originally, but I think something happened in her past to lower her opinions and expectations of most men.
  4. What kind of spren would they trap, though? I don’t know what spren has abilities to imitate a Nahel bond. Plus Shardblades don’t require Stormlight, like fabrials do. Even Shardplate requires infused gemstones to work, and could be an armor version of the Veden half-shard shields. Shardblade in general just seems fundamentally different.
  5. I think that smile was more icy and poisonous than warm and friendly. Maybe an “I know I’m about to reveal a logical fallacy in your argument, which is something that I like doing because you’re a man and I think men are stupid” smile. Probably not a “ooh I like that you’re challenging me let’s have babies” smile. Just saying.
  6. @insert_anagram_here That one Shardblade may use heliodor, but I don’t think that all dead Shardblades use that same Polestone. It seems that in fabrials, there is consistently one gemstone that is used to trap the spren and make the fabrial. Again, ruby for Conjoining, amethyst for Reversing, heliodor for Alerting. This may not be true for Augmenter and Diminisher fabrials. I still think there is no way that Shardblades are fabrials. Honorblades and Knight Radiant Blades don’t have gemstones, only dead Shardblades, which are there so that people can bond the dead Blades. I haven’t heard of a single fabrial without a gemstone, so I just don’t think it’s possible. He’s saying that it’s one combination, but by changing the amount of each you can make a slightly different alloy, and these 10 slightly different alloys are the metals that are in Shardblades. In other words, yes, each order of Radiant blades is made of a different alloy.
  7. @insert_anagram_here I know that heliodor is for Alerter fabrials, rubies are for Conjoining, and there’s no single gemstone for Shardblades/plate. I think amethyst is something too, maybe the Reverse ones?
  8. Navani explained that after trapping the spren, you can trigger a certain reaction from the spren by touching the gemstone with a metal or perform some other specific action that will elicit a response from the spren, causing heat, pain, etc.
  9. Not really a topic but I wanted to bless y’all with some nice Stormlight memes
  10. Yeah I think he put too much into it for it to mean nothing in the end
  11. I just read Oathbringer though and I don’t want to completely miss all of the fun
  12. Sorry talking about that Elhokar scene reminded me of this meme
  13. I liked the part where Szeth finally realized that he didn’t have to listen to the Oathstone and took responsibility for his murders. Also the iconic “you cannot have my pain.” Or really any Dalinar moment in the end of that book tbh
  14. Yeah, but a romantic relationship isn’t required for that to happen. Things could stay friendly without straying into relationship territory, and still help Kaladin to get over his prejudice against lighteyes. There are plenty of ways to highlight Shallan’s issues without agitating/exciting fans for no reason. She doesn’t need Kaladin to show her personas. You can look at the different attitudes, mannerisms, interests, etc. It was just uneccessary and disappointing to Shalladin shippers and anxiety-inducing to Shadolin shippers. His being in the love triangle didn’t really fuel character development or do much of anything at all.
  15. No. just no. There wasn't really any chemistry between them at all, and that age gap. Not to mention Jasnah is probably asexual and aromantic. They also haven't thought of each other at all, which you wouldn't expect from a potential match. For example, you see Dalinar and Navani thinking of each other, Shallan and Kaladin, Shallan thinking about Adolin, etc.
  16. Maybe the Honorblades will create a Dawnshard when united
  17. Maybe? I’ve always wondered if Lift can still consume Stormlight, or only get investiture from food. Even if she can't use Stormlight for Radiant stuff, though, she's still exposed to it, though if she truly is immune, this theory could make sense. Maybe something like this happened to the Shin, where the humans were given immunity to the small amounts of Stormlight from the highstorms, but the amount of Stormight outside of Shinovar vastly overpowered the partial immunity granted, affecting the height of people? I feel like that's grasping at straws. The Alethi are definitely taller than most Rosharans, but I think most people on Roshar are still taller than the average human. Kaladin's a bit shorter than Rock, who is seven feet tall. Kaladin is tall even among the Alethi, but seven feet is ridiculous, especially if a Rosharan foot is longer than a foot on Earth. To us normal humans, seven feet isn't tall; it massive. I think that for Rosharans to view the Alethi as merely tall when they're approaching seven feet, all Rosharans would have to have a skewed perspective by being taller themselves.
  18. I don’t think he would need more Stormlight. You’re right that with Vin, she is pushing metal away from her. Kaladin can probably make the projectiles stray easily, without extra effort. Vin’s weight wouldn’t be fighting Kaladin’s Lashing unless they were directly opposite; as long as the metal is being pushed away from Vin, the Steelpush will keep going without having to fight any other forces, even it isn’t where Vin intended it to go.
  19. That could be it. I think the hardest thing to figure out is why the Shin aren’t changing as well. There would have to be some kind of separation to make the environment on Shinovar fundamentally different than that of the rest of Roshar. Depending on whether or not the Shin have Stormlight, though, could explain it.
  20. He originally thought that too, and that was probably a part of it. When he went to Jah Keved, however, he said that what he originally thought was him becoming immune to the Thrill was actually the Thrill moving away to Jah Keved, and that’s why he could feel it so strongly again.
