  1. Nice, now I want to read them. I wasn't aware of its existence, but then again, I'm not from the USA. Hell, not even an english native speaker. BTW, The Silmarillion is my favourite book ever.
  2. I'm currently halfway through The Well of Ascension, first read. And i'm finding it a little bit slower than i would like. In fact, a hundred pages or so into the book, I stopped reading it and switched to Warbreaker, which I had just bought. Only after finishing it I went back to TWoA, and now I remember why I left it in the first place. I get that Brandon is building up tension, with Luthadel being besieged and all, but still think it could go way faster. Did anyone else feel similarly?
  3. damnation it, I haven`t read Warbreaker yet. Is it Vivenna?
  4. Um, no, let's see... This character has a fondness for skaa girls. That's it, I'm giving him away with that.
  5. Getting closer. My character is a dead male nobleman from Scadrial and it's not an important character.
  6. Thanks! My turn: This character is a member of nobility. P.S: You tried to cheat copying 2 names on one post. Busted!
  7. I don't think it it the case, otherwise we would have already been presented with Dalinar's father as a character. But it's not impossible either, so I wouldn't discard the chance yet. Maybe it could have to do with Kholin house being descended from Sadees, who seemed to be in a hurry to "Unite them", by the sword, in his case.
  8. Do not discuss any further. The 4th ideal for the Windrunners is clearly the following: "I will wait until Stormlight book 4 to swear the fourth ideal, to keep the mistery about Shardplate".
  9. Those are not exclusive, indeed. I reckon Adonalsium is different from the shards that composed it/him only in quantity, not quality. I mean, I think it was a supershard 16 times more powerful than the ones we know, but with a vessel controlling it. I don't think it was the absolute force of the Cosmere, otherwise it couldn't have been shattered by only 16 regular people. Thus, I think there is a diference between the raw power of Adonalsium, and the guy driving it. The "guy" doesn't have to be human, though, as, for instance, Syl is a literal piece of a shard with sentience, but which also could turn into metal. Besides, Brandon RAFOing the related question makes me think that will have some importance. Maybe it actually is related to Dragonsteel, all jokes aside.
  10. I know he was a conscious entity. Maybe I should have expressed it differently: Is there an Adonalsium metal, much like there are other God metals named likewise? I'm thinking of the implications of that. For instance, a weapon made of that metal used to shatter a god, which could be what Rayse is using to splinter Shards. Or it may be what the Dawnshards are made of.
  11. So, I've been thinking about this since I knew about Lerasium and Atium. You can see the resemblance. But I didn't give it much real thought, until I found out there's WoB saying that Sharblades are also God metal: Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) I also got confirmed that the metal that spren turn into is god metal. Footnote: Unspecified question by yulerule. Arcanum Unbounded Hoboken signing (Dec. 3, 2016) And that that metal is being called (informally as of yet) Tanavastium. Moreover, there's confirmation that there's now Harmonium on Scadrial: youshallnotpass Will there be a metal called harmonium in the mistborn world? Brandon Sanderson RAFO. But good question. WeiryWriter Just an fyi but you have confirmed the existence of harmonium before. (And this is probably a RAFO, but is there a reason you didn't follow the convention of the other "god metals" and call it something like sazedium? "Harmonium" just seems out of place.) Brandon Sanderson Sazed didn't like the sound of Sazedium. /r/books AMA 2015 (July 6, 2015) Which also lets us know that there is a conscious decision from the shards in the naming of the God metals. But the part that actually got me thinking was this WoB: Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] Did Adonalsium have a god metal? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] RAFO. Skyward Chicago signing (Nov. 16, 2018) I always visualized the Shattering of Adonalsium as the breaking of something solid. I don't know why. But this makes me think I'm not that far from something important.
  12. Sorry, I didn't read any Wax & Wayne era books... Yet.
  13. Where can I find that conversation between Sigzil an Szeth? I've read it on Reddit some time ago. It was based on that WoB I posted above. IIRC, it was also based on the fact, stated by Brandon, that perception affects magic in the Cosmere. The same way Szeth needed 10 heartbeats to summon the Honorblade because he thought he needed them, applies to the Honorblades granting only 2 surges to people used to the fact of being allowed only 2. But, as I said, I don't think this is the case.
  14. I think this is possible. In fact, Brandon RAFOed a related question: mooglefrooglian Could Honor have made an Honorblade granting all the Surges at once, rather than just two? If so, why didn't he do that? Brandon Sanderson RAFO. /r/books AMA 2015 (June 8, 2015) I believe what you say has a high possibility. There's also a theory that says that Honorblades grant all of ten surges. I'm not quite convinced of that one, though
  15. Granted, but your bane is to suffer the guilt for the massive extinction of a whole species, which makes you abandon your plate and blade at feverstone keep, later to be killed by annoyed ecologists. I wish to have a bane that is actually quite helpful.
  16. Seems like you put those words yourself. You intervened in this thread only because you had to laugh at my comment. Not to follow the theme of the topic.
  17. Those quotes prove what I said. Jasnah was remarkable for making the connection parshendi=voidbringers, but had no confirmation to it yet. Read the chapter, she thinks parshmen are the natural form, and that they were changed INTO parshendi, which everybody on Roshar knows to be false by the time of OB. She doesn't know either of fused, of humans being the original voidbringers coming from Ashyn (which we know she finds out at the en of WoR), Odium, Eila Stele, etc. There's ton of information she doesn't know. It's irritating to write all of this again, but you ignored it on purpose last time. It's like talking to a wall. I am sorry to be still writing this on this topic, but it's not fair to suffer someone telling you in a condescending tone that he HAS TO laugh about you. And even more so if he's wrong. To continue the line of this thread, there's another phrase I could say, to Dalinar, eleven years ago: "Dude, don't burn Rathalas, Evi's inside!"
  18. That's the point. She does well in making sure she gathers more facts, as she doesn't know exactly what she thinks she know. Read again what she thinks of the parshendi, and the lack of knowledge she has on the other topics I mention.
  19. That's why I said During WoK. If you reread it, you'll find that at that time she didn't know about any of these things. She had only a theory about parshmen, and as a matter of fact, a flawed one, as she believed that the parshendi were "normal parshmen who were changed INTO parshendi", while we know it's the other way around. Given that, more shocking would be to her to know about the Fused. She didn't know about Odium either, and certainly was ignorant about the first Voidbringers being humans from Ashyn, as we know Hoid told her that at the end of WoR. I could also point to her the translation of the Eila stele, if proving it to everyone else was the problem. That was the joking in "finding out a way of telling this in 10 words". And even if she knew everything, there's proof that she'd be pleased to know there's another person who believes her in chapter 74, when she is noticeably happy to know Shallan has come to the same theory as her, being the first person to do so. For the final part of my post, I really hope you realize this topic was meant as a way to amuse each other in a humorous way. Lol to you, and my most sincere regards, sir.
