  1. I'm pretty sure that the only reason the cognitive realm is able to be used for worldhopping is that no one in the cosmere so far has any concept of space, or the sheer vastness of the universe. So, in the cognitive realm, the worlds are not that far apart. Is it possible that in the future, with a proper understanding of the distance between worlds, the cognitive realm could change to match the way people think of the cosmere?
  2. Yes, but he also claims that he has experienced a world without gravity, which implies that he actually succeeds later on. you have to keep in mind that Alcatraz is not in full control of his talent. Remember that Alcatraz the first broke time itself.
  3. Hoid is not The Doctor. The Doctor is Hoid.
  4. Please don't use his name in vain.
  5. That is absolutely adorable. You know you're a Sanderfan when you have to write a review for an autobiography for English class, and you submit a review of Alcatraz vs The Evil Librarians.
  6. just found this WOB Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] Back to Stormlight. Is there significance to the color of moons? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] Yes, there is a significance to the colors of the moons in Stormlight, but it is not a major player in theories. There is a significance, but it's not, like, one of these things that you're going to read book seven and be like "The colors of the moons! It was there all along!" Sometimes, I put stuff like that in, right? It's not like that. Oathbringer Glasgow signing (Dec. 2, 2017)
  7. The ending of the Mistborn trilogy was absolutely amazing. I did not see it coming at all, despite the fact that all of the signs clearly point to Sazed being the Hero of Ages. However, I was recently listening to the series on audible, and while I think Michael Kramer, for the most part, does a good job with the series, the first thing that stood out to me on the third book was that he simply used Sazed's Voice at the introduction to each chapter. You can clearly hear Sazed claiming to be the Hero of Ages at the beginning, and you can clearly tell that it is him throughout the entire book. Am I the only one who feels as though this kind of ruins the amazing ending?
  8. I think that you could say that all things that exist are already broken. A table is a broken tree, glass is a material forged from thousands of broken grains of rock, and ultimately, the entire universe is made up of material from long-dead (broken) supernovas. so yes, I would say that Alcatraz can break objects that are already broken.
  9. Alcatraz does have a tendency to break indestructible swords.
  10. The technical term is "Awesome".
  11. That makes sense. so let's say that she is a mistborn. Do you think that she would simply be incapable of drawing power from food, or would she only be able to use food to power one allomantic ability, or do you think something else would happen? what if "burning food" would give Lift access to all allomantic powers at once.
  12. If lift were to become an allomancer , would she be able to convert food into metal?
  13. lashings work by changing the direction that gravity pulls on a person or object. If Kaladin were to lash a bar while someone is holding it, chances are, the bar would not be heavy enough to weigh someone down, so it would end up doing nothing unless he infused it with the same amount of stormlight as he would have to infuse a person. as for the wagon, it would be heavy enough to carry someone, but there wouldn't be much point considering that you would have to infuse it with enough stormlight to carry the weight of both the wagon, and the people inside.
  14. speed=distance/time, so that is X amount of miles divided by 0 seconds. division by zero is inappropriate. so the oathgates transport people at an inappropriate speed.
  15. yes we do. It is said a few times in the books that it is impossible to affect one's own emotions through allowmancy.
  16. when I read that part, I just assumed it was a chasmfiend being illuminated by lightning. I figured it was just brandon showing how the giant crustaceans survive highstorms in the chasms.
  17. Humans did not evolve from apes. Humans and apes evolved from the same species, and apes are the closest living relative to humans.
  18. I think that I should point this out, but this fight specifically excludes shards. In my opinion, being directly powered by a shard counts as a shard being involved in the fight. So I don't think that we can count the heralds being powered by Honor anymore than we could count Rashek in the Well of Ascension, or Vin being powered by the mists.
  19. I agree that the Heralds are overpowered, however, I don't think that they were written for the sole purpose of being overpowered. At least not in the same way that the Lord Ruler was.
  20. Yea. Not counting Hoid
  21. While regarding Rashek, I think that we must consider one crucial point. The Lord Ruler's purpose, that is, the very reason Brandon Sanderson wrote him, was to be overpowered. he has not written any other character in the Cosmere, aside from the shards for this reason alone. That's not to say that there are not any other OP characters in the Cosmere, however none of these characters were created from a base trait of overpowerdness. In my opinion, aside from the shards, The Lord Ruler has the most valid claim to Godhood out of any character in the Cosmere so far.
  22. think about the Quicksilver scene in X-Men. now imagine if quicksilver had insane strength, healing factor, and the ability to (sort of) fly. come to think of it, Rashek would not even have to tap speed. anyone around him would simply lose the will to fight. his insane alomantic soothing would prevent anyone from having the motivation to fight.
  23. it doesn't matter how powerful everyone else is. it doesn't matter if soulcasters have the ability to harm him or not. either way, everyone in the arena would be dead before they have the opportunity to use these powers. compounded speed, both physical and mental, will allow the Lord Ruler to end the fight before it even truly starts.
  24. Rashek could simply compound speed and kill everyone in the arena before anyone could blink.
  25. I have a hard time imagining, not just a fullborn, but the Lord Ruler himself, being stopped by any amount of fabric.
