  1. Hey guys. I keep seeing my posts getting a star next to them instead of a dot. At first I thought it was just to show which were mine, but I noticed other people have stars next to theirs too. So I was just wondering what that meant. Thanks!
  2. "You must know better than to approach us by relying upon presumption of past relationship. You have spoken to one who cannot respond. We, instead, will take your communication to us – though we know not how you located us upon this world." to me this implies that the letter was meant for someone but another took it instead.
  3. I have a pretty weird but totally plausible (at least with my knowledge) theory about Aimia and Akinah. Here goes: I think that Autonomy has an avatar there. My first clue towards this is the Sleepless. They are a hive-minded group that literally break pieces of themselves off and send them to do certain things. This sounds JUST like Autonomy. My second clue is more obvious - Autonomy has a vested interest in Odium and Odium's mission. Autonomy, in her letter to Hoid, writes that she "admire(s) his initiative." Odium being trapped would give Autonomy interest in Roshar, a reason to be there. My third clue toward this theory is also located within her letter to Hoid. For full context, here's the letter: "Cephandrius, bearer of the First Gem, You must know better than to approach us by relying upon presumption of past relationship. You have spoken to one who cannot respond. We, instead, will take your communication to us – though we know not how you located us upon this world. We are indeed intrigued, for we thought it well hidden. Insignificant among our many realms. As the waves of the sea must continue to surge, so must our will continue resolute. Alone. Did you expect anything else from us? We need not suffer the interference of another. Rayse is contained, and we care not for his prison. Indeed, we admire his initiative. Perhaps if you had approached the correct one of us with your plea, it would have found favorable audience. But we stand in the sea, pleased with our domains. Leave us alone. We also instruct that you should not return to Obrodai. We have claimed that world, and a new avatar of our being is beginning to manifest there. She is young yet, and--as a precaution--she has been instilled with an intense and overpowering dislike of you. This is all we will say at this time. If you wish more, seek these waters in person and overcome the tests we have created. Only in this will you earn our respect." Note the first paragraph. She claims that Hoid targeted an avatar who "cannot respond." This reminds me of the Kaza interlude in Oathbringer where the Sleepless cook says, "I cannot speak, even to sate a dying command. There are those who could pull secrets from your soul, and the cost would be the end of worlds." Now lets look at the second paragraph. She speaks of being in the sea, which would make sense since Akinah is an island. She also speaks of a series of challenges that she has designed to presumably keep people out. This matches up well with Akinah; There is a storm that has sank many ships trying to approach, there are soulcast structures surrounding the island that not even a dinghy could get through, and there are also caverns underneath the city, possibly maze-like in structure. Who knows what other challenges there are. We know that the letter mentions Obrodai, but is not sent from there because the writer refers to it as "that world" but refers to their location as "these waters." It should also be noted that Hoid intended for the letter to go somewhere else, but the current author intercepted it. If Hoid wrote the letter from Roshar, which I am almost positive that he did, then it would make sense that it also got intercepted on or near Roshar. Anyways, tell me what you think. Is there anything else that supports this? Anything that directly contradicts it? I am really interested in the feedback this gets because it makes a ton of sense to me.
  4. Kaza from the OB Interludes because I need to know what she knew!!!!!
  5. Granted! But you now have lost all of your senses. Sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing no longer work for you. I wish for the ability to read the minds of people, regardless of where they are in proximity of me.
  6. Ok that clears that up for me. But now I have a new question. If all investiture in the Cosmere belongs to a Shard, how do spirit webs factor in? Because souls or spirits in the Cosmere are pure Investiture.
  7. Awesome. Also apparently I was wrong about Szeth in the first place. Basically the wiki was giving an example of what the Fourth Ideal would sound like coming from Szeth, not referencing him actually saying it.
  8. Guys and gals... ignore this. I am a moron and forgot that wikis can be updated by anyone and not a specific crew. Anyone know if it is possible to delete a topic? I am still brand new here.
  9. Welcome! My first day was yesterday. Hope you enjoy your future reads. Still a ways to go but its a great journey. Sooooo I would recommend reading Hero of Ages soonish because of Mistborn era 2 and the novella that seperates them (which is canonically right after/during age 1, but should probably be read after book 6). Just my 2 cents though.
  10. On the Skybreakers page, under "Known Skybreakers," it says that Szeth is of the Third Ideal, but he's actually of the Fourth Ideal (Oathbringer ch. 121).
  11. Granted!!! But now you have an abnormal fear that the robots are all out to get you. I wish I could have better internet.
  12. Granted. You will now always smell like the inside of a dumpster. I wish for the ability to will away any sickness or ailments.
  13. I was on the Coppermind reading about the Heralds and came across the page for the Skybreakers. On the page, it says that the Fifth Ideal of the Skybreakers is to "become the personification of judgement and justice." This was cool because just yesterday I commented on Reddit about how Judgement would be a cool name for the combination of Odium and Honor. This makes me really curious: has a Skybreaker ever, in the whole history of Roshar, sworn the Fifth Ideal? Maybe their Fifth Ideal is to vow to take the Shards and combine Odium and Honor.
  14. It is really going to be 50/50. The Bridge Four crew continues to be important in the series and more get named. Some minor ones die occasionally. Bridge Thirteen is where I am watching for interesting characters. So while the guy you are reading about could be important, he also equally couldn't be.
  15. This makes a bit more sense to me now. I noticed the Brandon stressed that Elantrian and Scadrian magics were both similar and thought it was somehow relevant beyond just standard mechanics. Thank you!
  16. I would love to see Taravangian die. It would be bitter-sweet because he is a really cool concept and great execution, no pun intended. Also I want to see Nan Balat die. Like really... really badly. I HATE him. He deserves everything he got and then some. I wouldn't mind seeing Taravangians Dustbringer die, but I am hesitant to judge until we see more about them. Anyone on Scadrial working for Trell. And lastly, Mraize gives me the creeps, but I am really interested in him.
  17. That could make sense but I don't think it does really. Otherwise, why would Odium need to travel to Sel, Threnody, etc. to splinter the Shards? If their power is everywhere, why not just splinter them from a safe location? Also, the Dor is located ONLY in the Cognitive Realm surrounding Sel. If the Dor was the whole Cosmere, then worldhopping would be waaaay more dangerous regardless of where you go. In addition, lets say Harmony was permeating the whole Cosmere, then why aren't any Rosharans born with Connection to him? I am not trying to say you are wrong, because you could totally be right, I just do not understand how that would mesh with the current systems/situations that we see.
  18. Ok... I was thinking that Connection to Ruin/Preservation are what allows Scadrians to actually burn the metals, willing investiture through the molecular structure, and someone who could already access investiture, albeit from another planet and shard(s), could just automatically access the investiture from another if it knew the "key." At least I thought that that'd explain things like Nalthian worldhoppers wanting to go to Roshar to get Breaths easier and whatnot. I think my understanding is lacking less about the location-based aspects and more about the whole Connection system of the Cosmere. I guess it is time to do more research!
  19. Ok, so from a WOB a while back, it was said that Allomancy was powered by the pattern of the molecular structure of the metals, similar to the patterns that Elantrians must draw to access the Dor. This begs the question... would an Elantrian on Scadrial b able to draw the molecular pattern of... let’s say iron... and have access to the metallic arts? The whole “location based” aspect of the Magic really confuses me so there may be something I’m not understanding. This is a question I’ve had for a long time.
  20. Ok. So this whole “soul casting food in his stomach” got me thinking. We know the following things (I think. Correct me if I’m wrong): • some Magic’s that the Knight Radiant have come from Honor, some from Cultivation. • Lift was granted a boon from the Nightwatcher, and Brandon confirmed that the boon she gave lift was directly related to her specific magic. • Resonances are developed when one person has access to magic from 2 different shards. I may be misremembering and it can be from just one Shard. If so please correct me • Shallan has a resonance of being able to take Memories. That would imply that one of her powers is from Honor, the other from Cultivation. The whole Lightweaving one is based on “lies,” or false selves. This would seemingly be tied to Honor who is obsessed with things like truths, lies, oaths, etc. That would make the whole Soulcasting portion of her magic related to Cultivation. Does that mean that Lift’s conversion from food to Investiture could be related to Soulcasting / IS Soulcasting? jeez it took me a loooong time to get to this point.

    Hello

Cookies should ALWAYS be taken seriously. So is the RP thing inside the Cosmere? Or is it just for fans to get together and RP together?

    Hello

Favorite book? Hmmm I’m going to have to say... man that’s hard. It’s definitely Stormlight but idk which one I like the most. I’ll say Way of Kings stuck with me the most. Favorite character? Wayne or Syl. I’m generally going to err on the side of funny when it comes to characters. I’ve read everything Cosmere except White Sands 2 so far so that’s going to be my final answer until something new comes out and changes my mind.
