“Darn.” Jenny was hungry too. Being kinda-dead seemed to remove your sense of taste. There’s a way to get it back. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. She ignored the voice, trying to eat her food as quickly as possible to just get it over with. The sheer amount of salt made the burger a bit crunchy. She lowered the volume of her voice a bit. ”What do you think is up with that waiter?” @Anguished_One

Yup, although I haven’t actually looked at it in ages. TPBM has skinned their knee within the past two weeks.

Even with the copious amounts of seasoning Jenny had added to her burger, she still couldn’t taste very much. She grabbed a salt shaker, unscrewed the top, removed the bun, then poured a rather large pile of salt on top of the patty. Replacing the bun, she squished it down, then took a bite. It tasted somewhat salty, which was good enough. ”The burgers here aren’t very good.” @Weaver of Lies

Out of an abundance of caution, Jenny scooted away from Ed before removing her gloves to eat her burger. It tasted rather bland, so she put quite a bit of extra salt and pepper on it using the table’s shakers. Despite her food’s poor taste, she ate quickly. @Weaver of Lies

Jenny smiled at seeing Ed’s smile. It always made her happy when he was happy. She blinked, and for a brief flash, it looked like he was a desiccated corpse, rotten skin pulled tightly against a broken skull. She tensed up briefly, but calmed quickly. This was probably just a hallucination similar to the dead grass. That didn’t mean it wasn’t terrifying, though.
-
“Ok.” That didn’t involve touching her face, so it was probably fine. And Ed was warm. She felt cold, and her jacket seemed to not help at all.
-
“I…” He’s fine. You aren’t going to kill him, at least not this way. “Alright.” Jenny moved to sit next to Ed. She replaced her glove, resisting the urge to touch him again. It had made her feel better, less empty. She was ashamed of how much she wanted to experience that again.
-
Jenny stayed frozen in place for a moment before she managed to process what she was seeing. She suddenly recoiled in horror. Why had she touched Ed? He’d been smiling, but she’d probably been hurting him. ”I’m so sorry!” The extra spark of life quickly left her eyes, and Edgar would feel his energy return.

Y’know, after saying “I’ve doomed myself to three hours of sleep, but it’s fiiiiiiiiine,” I really should just go to sleep. At this rate I’ll probably doom myself to two hours instead, though.

I babysat my brother’s friend and his sister a few times. Both were very well behaved. It was a really sweet gig, I played with them for two hours and then played games on my phone after they went to sleep. I probably got paid too much for that Do you write more formally than you speak?

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)

A distant voice piped up to mention that midterms are approaching as well, then noted that a certain author really needed to start studying for hers.- 111811 replies

Suddenly, Jenny felt hungry. Starving. It wasn’t for food, but it was for something needed to sustain herself. As if in a trance, she slowly removed a glove, then leaned across the table and touched the side of Edgar’s face with her bare hand. Edgar saw some of the life return to her eyes. Jenny saw some leave his. @Weaver of Lies

Jenny scooted back to where she’d been sitting once the waiter moved on to another table. She set Timothy on the table so Gift could return to Ed if it wanted to, giving him a final pat on the head. @Weaver of Lies

Jenny narrowed her eyes, now suspicious of the waiter. ”I’d like fries, please.” She didn’t trust them, but she was also really hungry. The food was worth the risk.
-
“I’d like a burger, please.” Jenny scooted away from the waiter a bit. She wasn’t sure if mortals would be more vulnerable to her potential death-thing than demigods. @Weaver of Lies

“You being here for me helps.” Jenny smiled a soft but genuine smile. She then grabbed a menu and looked it over, attempting to change the subject so neither of them would have to think about their current problems. ”I’m gonna get a burger. How about you?”
-
“You can once this gets figured out. I don’t want to lose you before that happens, though. You need to stay safe from me.” She replaced her glove. This really, really stunk. She’d have to ask Jace about it some time soon. Unbeknownst to Jenny, her eyes were starting to look empty. Not in the glassy way they had been before, just lifeless.
-
“You needed my help to walk, and it might just take a while for the effects to impact things.” She sighed. ”I don’t want it to be like this either. We can just pretend like I’m sick with something really contagious.” Jenny removed a glove and inspected her hand to see if there was anything weird about it. Her pale skin actually did look pretty sickly.
-
Jenny very gently removed Ed’s arm and pushed him along the booth’s bench until he could lean against the wall. She then moved so that she was sitting across from him on the outside edge of the booth. ”I’m not sure if proximity to me is enough to hurt someone. I’d rather be safe than sorry.” She gave an apologetic, sad smile.

Jenny nodded wordlessly. She didn’t deserve Ed. She was glad that he didn’t seem to care.
-
Jenny cautiously hugged him back, a bit surprised. Ed probably should’ve been more careful around her. She really appreciated it, though. ”I love you.”
