Eza immediately started devouring the food. She ate surprisingly fast for someone so small. Normally, she only ate what she could steal. Eza was rarely able to have large meals all at once. She spoke in between bites.
”I don’t really have anyone to ‘accompany’ me, I guess. I’ve been on my own for a while. And if you’re a poor kid on your own, you gotta be good at stealing. I’ve always been good at that, though.”
She burned the remaining iron in her stomach and shot a now empty plate into her hand.
”People aren’t too kind to those like me. And this thing makes ‘em scared of me, sometimes.”
She pointed to the large scar stretching from her temple to her chin.
”People said that Alleycity had a lot of weird folks. Heard stories about people with strange powers and odd looks. Figured I’d fit in here. Stand out less.”
She chugged the remainder of her juice and pulled out a file, beginning to make a small pile of iron shavings from the flask.
”You’re one of those people with strange powers, right?”
