  4. Chuck Norris sleeps with a pillow under his gun.
  5. Jenny couldn’t stop smiling slightly, which was really annoying. She was probably making Edgar feel uncomfortable. But she couldn’t quit wondering if he actually did feel the same way. She noticed that Harold had exited the car rapidly and was glad for the distraction. ”Harold, are you ok?” Maybe he didn’t like cars. Or he just wanted to run again. Was Apollo the god of running or something? @The Clarinetist
  6. Jenny followed Edgar and Harold out, internally panicking. She had no idea what to do. She considered bumping Edgar with her shoulder, but that had gone poorly last time, so she just stood next to him. Very, very awkwardly. She’d gone and made things awkward, hadn’t she? Now everyone else on the quest was seeing how awkward Jenny was. They probably would look down on her like everyone else did now.
  7. Jenny grinned back. He was smiling a lot. Maybe it actually did mean what she hoped. No, it couldn’t. No one would ever think about Jenny that way. But it was starting to seem otherwise, at least a little bit. ”I like it too.” Jenny was very annoyed that they had arrived already. She probably shouldn’t have been since it meant the sisters had done their job well, but she was frustrated anyways. @The Clarinetist @Scars of Hathsin
  8. Water is just a scam by big H2O to sell more products. They aren’t sad if you stay in denial! Food can be purchased at grocery stores.
  9. “No.” Jenny said that a little too quickly, which just made her blush more. She was gonna stub her toe from kicking herself at this rate. Edgar had asked if she wanted him to move. Did that mean he actually wanted to stay? She spiraled a little. Being unable to read people made situations like this incredibly difficult for her, although she hadn’t been in a situation like this before.
  10. Edgar was smiling. That was good. He wasn’t moving away from her, either. That was also good, if unexpected. It probably didn’t mean what she hoped it did, but it was nice anyways. She blushed a little bit despite herself. She internally kicked herself for that. It wouldn’t do any good to set herself up for rejection. Jenny didn’t want to make things awkward.
  11. Edgar was listening to her. He was finally listening. She smiled. Hopefully he could see what she saw. A kind person who cared about others, who helped even when he could be excused for doing nothing. She liked how his arm felt around her shoulders. He was pretty handsome, too. His amber eyes were beautiful. It was unfortunate he probably wouldn’t feel the same way about her. Everyone else thought she was ugly, so he likely did as well. She didn’t move anyways.
  12. Chuck Norris once worked as a lumberjack in a forest called Sahara.
  13. Pshaw, I haven’t eaten in five weeks and I feel fi Birds have feathers.
  14. Jenny eventually stopped shaking. She was ok. He was right. She was ok. Even though she was being a massive inconvenience, he still was helping her. You didn’t do that for someone you merely pitied. She wanted to apologize for that, and she suddenly understood Edgar. She whispered to him. ”Thank you. I understand now, I think. You aren’t fair to yourself.” She turned so she was looking at Edgar. “I’ve figured out part of why you make me happy. You’re like a mirror. We’re alike. I see me in you, and I like you. So it makes me like myself too.”
  15. Jenny drifted. She felt separate from her body, from everything. It wasn’t good or bad. It just was. But she knew she was missing something. It nagged at her. That hadn’t happened when she drifted before. There was a flash of recognition in her blank eyes when Edgar put his arm around her shoulders. It was the only thing tethering her to reality. She focused on it. It was like her thoughts were fighting through a sandstorm. She couldn’t see, so she went in the direction of Edgar’s presence. The glass shattered, and she was back in reality. Jenny started crying. She managed to keep it silent- she had lots of practice with it. Jenny didn’t want to disturb the others too much. She suddenly felt like everything was too heavy, so she leaned against Edgar, tears streaming down her cheeks. She shook slightly from the muted sobs.
  16. “Why do you hate yourself so much, then? It doesn’t make sense. I don’t- I-“ Jenny’s voice had started shaking enough that she couldn’t speak anymore. She buried her face in her hands. The thoughts that had caught fire were now nothing more than ashes. Her brain shut down. She stayed like that for a few moments. When she looked up again, her eyes were glassy.
  17. “Stop lying. If you think all those bad things mean you aren’t a good person, then you think I’m an awful person too.” Edgar was being a liar. She stared at him. Her eyes were angry. ”Don’t pity me.”
  18. “You’ve shown me more kindness than anyone has for eleven years. Edgar, I’m just you but worse.” Jenny felt sick. Edgar thought she was a terrible, worthless person who had to apologize for existing. He left Kylee to die. Jenny had done the deed herself. He was bad with people. She couldn’t understand if someone was yelling at her or praising her. He was a disappointment to his father. Her father hated her. The voice was right. Edgar only pitied her.
  19. Jenny wilted, looking downwards. ”Edgar, you’re describing me.”
  20. The thoughts trying to flee out of the windows had now also caught on fire. He’s admitting it, Jenny. He isn’t telling you what he is doing wrong on purpose. He wants to hurt you. Why would you ever think someone would like you? Jenny felt trapped. She was stuck in the limo and couldn’t escape. But she didn’t want to abandon Edgar, did she? He’d been nice to her. Maybe he was just confused. He’s calling you stupid, Jenny. Too stupid to notice all of the terrible things he’s been doing. ”Edgar, please just tell me. I don’t understand this. I’ve never been able to understand anything like this. I can’t see what other people feel, what they really mean. I’m blind to it.” He’s forcing you to admit that in front of everyone else. He’s playing you, Jenny.
  21. “But you aren’t doing anything! I like who you are! You make me happy. Happier than I’ve been for a long time. I don’t understand…” Jenny was just so confused. Why did Edgar laugh? Did he think it was funny? Had she missed a joke? How did he think he was hurting her? By existing, somehow? What did he mean by ‘a lot of things’?
  22. It’s already released in my heart. Most people have ten fingers.
  23. If your brain could catch on fire and send all coherent thoughts jumping out of the windows, then that was what was happening to Jenny. She didn’t understand. Sorry? Why was he sorry? Why was Edgar always sorry? People say sorry when they do something bad, Jenny. He’s doing something bad. ”I don’t know why you’re apologizing. Please tell me what’s going on.” Jenny was getting desperate. If he was apologizing, then that meant she hadn’t done something wrong. What had Edgar done? Why was he always sorry? She didn’t notice Aaron speaking. @Scars of Hathsin
  24. Edgar seemed ok. Maybe. He was looking at her and not actively crying. Maybe she’d fixed it. But she still didn’t know what she had been fixing. Jenny hesitantly smiled. “You’re welcome.” Flowers. Edgar liked flowers. Jenny really didn’t want to give Roy a poisonous flower, but refusing might just make things worse. She hadn’t told him about their properties, so hopefully he wouldn’t know that he could use them as poison. Jenny found the smallest one and picked off a few petals so that it wouldn’t have enough poison for a lethal dose. Probably. She very reluctantly held it out to him. She whispered to Edgar. ”Watch your food.”
  25. Edgar whimpered. Had he heard what Jenny had said? She’d just screwed everything up, hadn’t she? The liar is scared by the truth. ”Everyone lies sometimes.” Her voice was now an imperceptible whisper. EXCUSES. You’re better than this, Jenny. You’re better than him. She shut the voice away. But it made some good points… no it didn’t. It didn’t. It couldn’t. Jenny dug through her pack frantically. There was one other thing she knew had made Edgar happy before. She eventually found a small pouch and hastily retrieved a flower from it. She held it out to Edgar. ”Do you want a death flower?”
