    Thought didn't like death. War had made her sick when she was a Shard. She could sense the handerfels dying. Like faraway lights being extinguished. Not something you could see or quite feel, but the air was dimmer. She was ashamed to admit, even to herself, that she was scared. She squeezed AJ's hand. "We can't wait this out. What is her name?" --- AJ itched to move, but he was hesitant to interfere with things he didn't understand. He stayed silent and still.

    Astral looked at him flatly. "Sand?"

    "But how?" Astral didn't want to suck in any more darkness than she already had. It hurt sometimes if she focused on it too much. If she was honest with herself, she would rather fade to nothing or even fight forever than take it all in. But that wasn't what Marsh would have expected at all. He would have borne it all.

    Astral looked down. She licked her lips. "What if..." She swallowed, unsure of herself. "What if we were to trap them... within ourselves?"

    Astral bounded up to Road. "We should stop this," she said.

    Astral punched the rat in the face, her fist bleeding into her black essence the moment before it hit, piercing the rat's red eyes. She smiled. This felt good. Her bat had been gone when she'd come back for it. It didn't really matter to her, but she did wish she could fly. Well, she could, technically. She could do anything she imagined and was bold enough to write. A spider approached her and she blew a stream of air at it, throwing it backward against the wall. Continuing to blow, she walked confidently up to it and stabbed it in the chest. It slid to the floor as she walked away, its blood staining the wall. For as fun as this was, she did wish that it wasn't all the same. Fighting enemy after enemy. This would end eventually anyway, and what after that? Did it matter? Did any of this matter? The smile left her face and she ran off toward Road.

    Oh yeah. I'm in the same boat. Everything is just... empty. Plus my English teacher won't let me read any more fantasy books for pages which sucks.

    You have such an interesting style. I love it! You should post more of your stuff. My days are pretty packed right now otherwise I'd have started on Astral. I may be able to start today though.

    Really it's just preference. Different styles, different genres. Different people.

    I would like to disagree. As much as I love SA, Mistborn is so much more... focused. You get to know the main character and the ending is just so perfect in every way. Who knows? When in a thousand years give or take, SA is finally finished, maybe I will change my opinion. The other reason I love Mistborn so much is how much I connected with the characters. I know I'm not the only one who Kelsier taught to smile. Honestly, the message of Mistborn is, I think, that you - anyone - can do hard things. You could argue that for SA too, I suppose, I just read the books at the right time in my life. It's hard to explain. Edit: I suppose what I'm trying to say is, the most epic thing is your own experience with the words on the pages.

    AJ tensed. He had no place in this. Noticing Thought's pale expression, he took her hand. --- Thought tried to breathe normally. "What does she want with me?" she muttered. There was an ugly feeling aboard this ship. Dissonant Intents, screaming at one another. Her head started pounding.
