  1. “Tom,” Jaywalk said. “Your time has come. Tanika does not want you. Leave the poor girl alone.”
  2. “Go, AJ. Look out the window.” On a side note, the story got real depressing, but this is some quality storytelling. Excellent work, Narrators.
  3. “Wait,” Jaywalk said. “There’s one thing I can do.” He reached out to AJ’s mind, whispering memory and rememberance. Star could not suffer this much for nothing. ”Your love is in danger. You need to help her.”
  4. Bozo reappeared next to Jaywalk. “I couldn’t do it...” ”It’s all right. There’s nothing more we can try.”
  5. Bozo nibbled his way through the edge of the void, bounding over to Star. “My lady...”
  6. “Go, Bozo,” Jaywalk said. “Help the poor girl.”
  7. Jaywalk’s robe was stained with streaks of blood. Bozo sat beside him, revolver clutched between his paws. ”What shall we do?” Bozo asked. ”There’s nothing we can do,” Jaywalk replied. “Tom has powers beyond my comprehension.”
  8. Through the window she could see AJ, laughing and joking with his children.
  9. I’m excited to see Soren grow more over the course of the show. I love how morally gray all the characters are, which is something we don’t get a lot in animated shows(at least ones directed toward children).
  10. Star seemed unresponsive, tears pooling around her head, matting her hair to the stone of the floor.
  11. But not before Marsh strangled him, slamming his body to the floor next to Star.
  12. Nowhere was disturbed. How had they discovered his secret identity?
  13. Marsh drunk in the view of the suffering Star, letting the sorrow flow over himself. He savored it.
  14. Or not. The cut didn’t seem to faze Tom Joebob. Jaywalk stepped back, mortified. This was a power older than that of the Narrators’.
  15. Jaywalk couldn’t take any more of this. He stepped out of the void, hooked his arm around Tom’s neck, and slit Joebob’s throat.
  16. A bloody tear rolled down Jaywalk’s cheek. He wiped it away, staining his palm crimson.
  17. Marsh twisted Star’s broken wrist, reveling in her suffering.
  18. Jaywalk shook his head. “I never wanted this to happen,” he sobbed. “I should have stopped it while I could...”
  19. Jaywalk lay his head back on his throne of nothingness...waiting. Who am I? he wondered.
  20. A single tear rolled down Jaywalk’s cheek as he watched from inside his void. “Bozo,” he said. “Help the poor girl, would you?”
  21. Marsh brushed a strand of hair from Star’s face, kissed her on the forehead, and grabbed her wrist, crunching bone.
  22. “It was your fault,” Marsh whispered into her ear. “All of this was your fault.
  23. “You don’t,” he said, a giddy smile plastered on his face. “You need to suffer.” He placed the tip of the spike against her throat.
