Dalinar seems to be thinking along these lines, although he probably doesn't have a name for em nor all the facts. He's starting to believe in something greater than the shards of Adonalsium.

Hey all Something I am curious about the age range of this forum as it currently stands. I wanted to do it in such a way as to not be too intrusive and luckily the poll option that hides usernames comes to the rescue. And a brief mention to the mods: Cheers

Vasher seems the active type to me pre-Zahel-level-boredom. I think we're going to have to agree to disagree given the amount of qualifiers. (Ie. the lack of real information on his past.) We just don't know.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Dalakaar replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted, no one gets to drive. I want to watch Hoid meet all of my favourite characters from other series. -
I dunno how he does it but I'm both impressed and glad he does! Sanderbot Branthousand Proliferize!

Millions no, but it's worth considering how Vasher typically uses him. He goes through quite a few people every time Vasher drops him at their feet and lets em kill themselves. And we know Vasher has been around for a long time (hundreds of years) presumably, doing exactly that to people he doesn't like. So again, millions not likely, but thousands? Actually quite plausible. I wasn't keeping a kill-counter but in Warbreaker alone Vasher uses that tactic frequently. That aside not sure about the theory as I have a couple ideas that contradict a few things. Sounds interesting though. It does make me ponder something along similar lines... What if Nightblood was used against an Unmade?
-
Interesting idea that could work, I value the limitation more than the particulars. I've said before I bet Lift will be in a situation with other KR where she's the only one that gets to be awesome.

I start to disassociate with characters at a certain point when magic solves more problems than it creates. Healing for instance is a very fine line to me. It's starting to crop up and I'm curious how actively it'll be used. Too much, or too powerful, and a sense of danger is lost. An example of this would be Szeths return. Sort of pondering how much of Szeth would've been left to work with.
-
Too much magic runs the risk of dehumanizing the perspective though. Magic isn't rare but keeping the street level eye keeps things interesting. Even if magic abounds around them. Something like this↓ but (much) worse.
-
I actually did but deleted it as I thought the poll might get a bit convoluted if I did. Probably should've but oh well!
-
My completely unbiased poll for no apparent reason. Do you want Adolin to resurrect Maya and become an Edgedancer? Me personally I want him to resurrect Maya but I don't want Maya capable of a bond. A shardblade yes, a KR no. Part of my desire is to have fewer KR PoVs, and part of it is that I'd like to see some consequences attached to what happened to Maya in the first place. She can be brought back from certain doom but some things just can't be fixed, and I find magic in worlds tend to devalue consequences like that.
-
For this line of discussion that is very true. Super disagree with this though. That seems like a failure of imagination and sort of emphasizes why I want a non-magical/KR PoV. Actually why I want multiple PoVs that aren't KRs. Definitely agree with though! She's a great insight into the world of fabrials. I'll go make a poll topic to move this tangent outta here too.
-
Cool and alarming idea, not something I considered before. Be a fun turnaround and a bit of a flipped finger to the thunderclasts. "You use stone, we use stone." I'm not so sure about that.
-
I don't see why every PoV character has to be a KR. And to turn that around I'd say more people want that happening than don't. We can make a poll if you want for some completely unnecessary and irrelevant confirmation. I don't mind Maya coming backing, but I don't feel the need to see Adolin become a KR. In fact I see the need for a certain amount of PoVs to not be KRs to keep things in perspective. Adolin works well in that capacity, and was written in for his unique perspective on things already. I already have an unsettling feeling of power-creep becoming a problem from the OB conclusion.

I believe the Dawnshards are directly related to Odium in some way. Basing loosely off these things: - Odiums interesting visual ascetic. - Possible real world inspiration being a rarely heard name for Satan, Son of the Morning/Daystar. (A personal fav) - Dawnshards being confirmed powerful enough to destroy a world. Certainly nothing concrete but a pet theory of mine nonetheless. I am also guessing that the Dawnshard(s) are in Aimia and are responsible or partially responsible for Aimia's destruction.

Ditto, made the same connection. In Arcanum Unbounded they mention that fire reacts unexpectedly as well which is another reason stormlight is used more frequently than torches/lanterns. I remember world-building about 16 years ago and trying to come up with various reasons for super-sized chitinous creatures. I just decided that they had an endo and an exo skeleton on my old world to support their size along with, you got it, more oxygen. Funny thing, before I had ever heard of GRRM I had a massive walled off section in the middle of an industrial plains/hills type continent that was always winter and full of undead. I found the concept of undead in winter to be quite the brutal double-whammy.

Did some digging between watching Angel with my girl. You're right, specifically the same person that broke it. Kaladin al'Thor You mentioned before that it would be possible to revive a dead shard[blade], but it would be very difficult-- Brandon Sanderson Very difficult. Kaladin al'Thor Like I think what you said is that it would have to be the same person that broke the bond? Brandon Sanderson That would be the-- Yeah. Kaladin al'Thor So if it was an Edgedancer's blade if he made those same oaths could potentially he… Brandon Sanderson That would most likely not be enough. Something else would have to happen. Good guess though. source That's interesting as it means the more plausible way for Maya to come back is if she was bonded to someone who is still alive from back then. That narrows the list bit, most likely suspect being Vedeledev. Which brings me to another WoB. Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] Are these old Radiants? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] Those are Heralds. That's Ash, who you'll see that the very end of this [Oathbringer]. That's Jezrien who's also near the end. You haven't met her [Vedel] yet. Ishar, you have heard about. And it's identified in this book who he is. But those are artist interpretations of them, in-world. They're like the Sistine Chapel versions of the Heralds. They might not look exactly like that, but that is an in-world interpretation of them by an artist. Footnote: Question refers to the Oathbringer endpaper art source Yet... Yet? Yet!?

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)

Granted! You get a special snowflake in a safe space that doesn’t melt. (It’s not snow FYI) *** Hmm I would like one poster to give me my boon and a separate one to give me my bane. -
I wonder what would happen if Renarin or Lift went into Shadesmar and tried Regrowth/some form of Progression on her... My personal hope is that Adolin doesn’t turn into a KR and Maya becomes something different if she’s “resurrected”.

Who is your favorite radiant
Dalakaar replied to Rashek of Bridge Four's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don’t have a problem with Dalinar ascending. I both think Brandon will do it well and believe it would be relevant to the Cosmere as a whole. If that happens it becomes a pattern true, but a pattern with a point. I’d love to see Dalinar join Sazed in an alliance of Unity and Harmony. You can boil every story down to a point where obvious comparisons abound. The devil that interests me is the details. I also wouldn’t so easily brush off the fact that Honor is splintered and the impact that could have on the overall story. -

Shallan's "Garden" on the Shattered Plains
Dalakaar replied to Lord Stickborn's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think it was less a "this might be something" moment and more a world-building demonstration showing how life finds a way to exist on Roshar. Like the little patches of grass and weeds growing between cracks on a sidewalk. I don't think it's unique, Roshar would be covered in them. Like oases in the desert, just gotta know where to look.- 8 replies

Heyas I've noticed there seems to be a link to the Arcanum missing on mobile that is there on desktop. At the top on desktop there is *News *Forums *Shardcast *Gallery *Coppermind *Arcanum *Links▼ On mobile of course the menu is different, but in the menu there doesn't seem to be the Arcanum link anywhere. Vertically it goes: Account > News Forums Shardcast Gallery Wiki Link > My Activity Steams > More > It's not in any of the options that lead to others either. (Account/Links/My Activity Streams/More) Anyways, if I missed it somewhere please lemme know!

I agree although I wonder how much healers would be beneficial if they were up against similarly powerful beings. To sort of put it in the perspective I'm coming at: Everyone does 1000-5000 dmg. Progression can heal 1000 hp. Yet people only have a health pool of 20. Yeah healing is great, but when you have Dustbringers nuking entire swathes of land/people healing stops becoming useful. Like sending a specialized surgeon to treat a nuclear bomb. The narrower the field between damage and health the more emphasis on healing there is. And healing is great, but only if there's something left to be healed. Mind you a creepy flip side to that is something I've been wondering about Progression. Can they make viruses progress? Ie. Can a skillful Truthwatcher become a Plaguebringer? Because then you really want a counter to that.
