  1. I was under the impression that the majority of ships where controlled remotely. Which was how Spensa was able to anticipate what the ships where going to do. However FTL ejection might still apply for the manned ships.
  2. The question is why would they wait? One explanation is that they tolerated the humans until some humans attacked them. Which made the aliens decide that humans needed to be contained.
  3. A Dyson sphere is supposed to harvest energy whereas the debris field in this case is putting energy into the planet via the giant skylights. I think it would be best if we called it we called it something else since a Dyson sphere means something else.
  4. Be Adorable I just want to see what happens,
  5. As a bibliophile someone interested in philosophy and the mechanic of politics i'm definitely half Elend. I'm one third Renarin mostly because he matches my charisma more closely than Elend. Then i'm one 6th Pattern, honest and interested in "lies" though i still don't think that's the best name for them.
  6. Granted but it's not written by Brandon. I wish for more wishes.
  7. We know that we'll eventually see FTL travel be developed, probably using time bubbles to achieve speeds a few times faster than the speed of light. This while fast would still mean that journeys take months or years. However we've seen teleportation on Elantris and Roshar which cuts travel time down to the few hours typically spent getting into and out of airports. As such we can expect that anyone near to a place capable of teleportation like Sel would travel there and then be sent to their destination. For transporting vessels this processes would be fun, as the ship would have to get close enough to elantris. If the range in which aons function does not extend sufficiently far upwards then ships would have to descend into the atmosphere and go through reentry until they where in range. Ideally the aons would be in geostationary orbit, but if that's not possible floating aons in turn suspended by other aons would be second best. This is because being higher up would reduce the need for features enabling the spacecraft to survive reentry and a planetary environment. For the aons to be sufficiently powerful they would have to be large and possibly complicated. Due to this the aons would probably take months to construct and launch making them expensive, but ultimately well worth the cost. it should be noted that due to the stars moving relative to each other you would be unable to be teleported directly to another planet but would instead have to make a short in-system flight to your destination. To Clarify my proposal for the Elantris system would be one way A similar thing may be accomplished using fabreils similar to the oathgates which would have the benefit of being able to move with your destination and being two way. However we don't know much about their construction, how the cost of transportation scales with range, and the access to significant amounts of storm-light away from Roshar seems unlikely. As such if this method is used it will probably be used infrequently and only with one end always being on Roshar.
  8. I think the worries are somewhat overblown. Time bubbles are overly complicated so that objects entering and exiting don't have more speed. So Scadrians are only on track to make undetectable projectiles with near instant travel times, but there not weapons of mass destruction unless you strap on ettmetal or somesuch. As for antimatter i think the 10 essences are solidly fixed in matter. Though there is the possibility of soul-casting a pure lump of plutonium or other radioactive metals and instantly creating a fission bomb or radiation poisoning. So Roshar is doomed either way. Elantrians can teleport things into space and then let them fall on you. I take back what i said, they're doomed.
  9. Speaking of Steelheart when he got the scar he wouldn't have being able to identify whether he was being shot at by someone afraid of him or someone unafraid of him. So it can't be a purely psychological effect.
  10. If I remove time from myself so that i'm say a year younger then break my leg, what would happen when i revert to my previous age? Would it be overwritten, or would some new present be created.
  11. I don't think radiants can make flexible weapons. What's more turning a spren into a single arrow seems like it would generally be a waste of potential. It'd make more sense to me to make shardspears or javelins, which are thrown or lashed.
  12. It seems unlikely as the reason for destroying the world is that the Scadrians are getting too advanced. Forcing them into space isn't going to help with that. As for the personalities from what we know i'd imagine it'd be more like cultivation putting some of herself into making the night-watcher. It's not so much alternate personality as a distinct personality which may be subservient, though that seems unlikely given autonomy being autonomy.
  13. if it was based purely on conductivity copper would be more effective and probably cheaper too. Something else is at play.
  14. If Nightblood is still around it will be relevant. Bullets are useful but obliterating walls, having mind control powers (if the victims evil) etc. are useful. Especially since Nightblood is getting more invested over time.
  15. That instance was unusual and we'll probably have to wait to the next book till we get a good understanding. Shardblades don't cut each other. Think of it as the difference between bringing too steel knives against each other and cutting steel wool with a steel knife. Shardblades are tough that spren wasn't.
  16. To the nearest available spren: Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination
  17. I don't think so their missing their original soul, and breath isn't enough to fully restore them and doesn't match the body like the soul does. That being said a new organismish thing might be formed, that heamalurgy could work but I think if that would work it would take more breath. As for the ability to not need food, you couldn't spike that. This is because it's not an ability providing sustenance but a lack of need since it's a dead body you'd have just as much luck spiking the alibility from an animated broom.
  18. That seems unlikely since Brandon wants there to be negative consequences for Savantism. I think it's more likely that it would mess with the perception of an objects speed.
  19. I wonder whether we'll see something like this with the emergence of the spanreed network. Though since we haven't seen any library/book-spren I doubt that will happen. Though of course even if it's possible the Rosharn's are far away from conjuring some new voidspren variants.
  20. Granted but you are now a topaz soulcasting savant (your bodies stony).
  21. Aqua Regia is one of the few solvents capable of dissolving gold and pretty much anything else. So what you need is to cover the Lord ruler in aqua Regia which will have the added benefit of burning his flesh at the same time. Whether it's practical to get the lord ruler still while you burn away his flesh is questionable.
  22. I think the key to managing his Savantism was feruchemy. Alomancy does things quickly. The lord ruler would probably be constantly tapping metalmind such as tin to counter his various weakness's brought on by Savantism. Being a fullborn is just over powered.
  23. Do we know if misting/Ferring type is heritable? Because if so then the fact that some allomantic powers such as steel being more useful might result in people possessing them having more children. Which would naturally producer more of them over time. We don't have good data, but this would explain why we've seen two gold feruchemists (Miles and Wayne), since this power is probably the most beneficial in terms of surviving.
  24. Smartest hundred year old (hopefully). On account of immunity to senility. Unfortunately I think I'd also still be conscious while undergoing surgery, hope the pain is stopped at the end of the nerves otherwise I think it will hurt a littlie.
  25. Savantism takes years to develop in most cases however cadmium would take stake substantially longer due to the time compression. In our world cadmium was discovered in 1817 and industrial scale production began in the 1930s-1940s. It's production requires electricity and as such small scale production could only have began recently, further evidenced by it's high cost. Coming up with a number that seems reasonable we can say cadmium production began 20 years ago. So if some rich cadmium misting decided to go to the future 20 years ago and burned non-stop excluding sleep breaks would they have become a cadmium savant yet? Sadly it seems unlikely we'll never see a cadmium savant.
