I would go with Yolen as well. While the Liar of Partinel chapters Are now quite old, the master-pupil relationship Hoid has with his master seems a key focus

That’s the joy of dealing with Weller Books!

I am down for this- there should be certain levels of membership depending on how many titbits of information we have been able to coerce out of Brandon through book signings and other interviews...
-
It’s Warbreaker- we all thought it was less significant as a stand-alone at the moment until we read Words of Radiance...

You forgot Endowment for Warbreaker with the Tears of Edgli!

Welcome to the site! Check out the Coppermind Wiki- it will tell you everything you ever wanted to know (that we currently know!) Essentially in a nutshell, there was a Force/Power/Creator/God (delete as appropriate)- known as Adonalsium There was a plot to destroy Adonalsium that failed, and there were two sides to a conflict in relation to Adonalsium, that we know of. For unknown reasons, Adonalsium Shattered, and 16 living beings (not all necessarily human) took up a Shard, or Aspect of Adonalsium, and they became known as Vessels. These Vessels ended up emboding certain traits of these Shards, sometimes changing them entirely, while others seemed to appeal more to others. Welcome to the Rabbit Hole, we will embrace you with open arms as you jump right in!

Well damnation, I apologise

So I have got massively bored at work, so I thought I would make a light hearted attempt at humour: bring forth the Sanderson memes!

The reason Nightblood is a bit wonky with that command is because it is so subjective- Destroy Evil may mean one thing to one holder, and a completely different thing to another. Taravangian’s plans can be seen as evil but also can be argued as being for the greater good....

Khriss and Baon are both from Taldain itself- from Darkside. White Sand is one of the original novels Brandon wrote- I think number 3 or 4, even before Elantris- you can still request copies of the original text- just be aware that there have been some major changes and gender swops

This is Khriss- excellent spot! You will start to see her elsewhere in other ‘cameos’ throughout the books- my favourite that I got to quiz Brandon on was that she is Vathi in Sixth if the Dusk!

I have always assumed that with the ending of BoM that everyone accepted that Kelsier would become the Vessel of the Survival Shard

Doesn’t Vasher make a comment at some point that Nightblood would start to consume his Breaths, including his Breath if he didn’t manage to get investiture in another way?

In page 789 of the American Version, Hoid-as-Wit and Shallan are discussing the story of 'The Girl who Looked Up', with Hoid-as-Wit stating that "It's a story from long ago...things were different in that time." However, when Shallan creates the Illusion, he says "...it's not dark enough" (page 790), with the illusion "leaving them standing in the darkness of night, lit only by a frail set of stars." Hoid then goes on to say that people still had to live, even without light, living, farming and eating in the darkness, except for the one girl who wanted to find out the answers about the wall, and eventually climbing the wall to find that on the other side was "God's Light" (page 792), and that she sneaked up to the Light, and she brought it back with her. "To the other side. To the...to the land of shadows..." according to Shallan. This sounds very similar to the story of Khriss in White Sand, the ever inquisitive girl who goes from the Darkside to Dayside in her quest to find the Sand Masters, and to those who have read White Sand Prime, we know that she takes Sand back with her to Darkside at the end of the book. What d'y'all think? Am i clutching at straws here?

I completely agree with the Second Letter being Autonomy - the variety of personas is interesting - but it sounds as if the different personas have differing agendas and opinions, so could they be less collection, more self aware large splinters of Autonomy? Maybe like a Horcrux, becoming less and less like the original.... Where do we get that Uli Da is Ambition? And Harmony's servants - Hoid-Kandra interaction is going to be interesting!

Fellow Sharders, fans, friends! If you have not read about this yet, I urge you to go over to Chaos' post and read about it. This kickstarter campaign, supported by Brandon, is attempting to give TWoK it's own cinematic stylings by creating a soundtrack for the book. As their own page says: This is not just some random group of people who have come together to do a fan-based project. Working with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, musicians who have worked on Wonder Woman, and some of the composers themselves having worked on monumental films such as 'Fantastic Beasts' - this is something truly unique and truly special. There is currently only SIX days left before this project closes, and they are currently $48,000 short of their target of making this a reality - so I am writing this, as a fan, a backer, as someone who loves Brandon and the Cosmere as much as anyone here, I write this and ask you to pledge whatever you can - to join and support and make this project a reality!

A Theory on the Initial Distribution of the Shards
imriel452 replied to Amanuensis's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I would like to raise a note of caution when discussing fainlife- and it is because of Edgedancer in AU. Brandon will often edit and adapt elements from older novels, such as taking Decay from 'The Aether of Night' (it is suggested that an Aether is in the Worldhoppers collection in WoR) and turning him into Ruin for 'Mistborn' In Edgedancer, Lift meets Arclo the Dysian Aimian, member of the Sleepless and associate of Axies the Collector. Arclo refers to his 'Hordelings', with the specialisms they possess. Brandon, many years ago, wrote 'Star's End', a hard sci-fi unpublished novel that he is not fond of now, looking back! In this book, there are a race of aliens known simply as 'Climaxi's Horde', which have specialisms, both simple and very specific. To me, it seems clear that Brandon has recycled this idea, and that brings me back to the original point. I am not 100% sure of the canonic status of The Liar of Partinel at the moment, and while it does refer to fainlife within the text, I would probably (and personally) suggest that we treat the reference in AU as the only canonical reference for the moment! -
Hoid "being named for a rock" references a previous alias - Topaz. This is also referenced in the Letter or the Second Letter (I forget which)

Hoid with the bead of Lerasium (Spoilers)
imriel452 replied to FlailingMunchies's topic in Cosmere Discussion
We could easily argue that Feruchemy as the combined power of Ruin and Preservation is but an example of the power of Adonalsium? Perhaps Investiture on Yolen was different for different people/nations/races - that sDNA is a racial remnant from Yolen - we may see examples of Feruchemy, alongside Lightcasting and Aon based magics - who knows!
