  1. Note that Returned can slide their ages around, but can't (AFAIK) regenerate.
  2. You missed another tidbit, by the way. Hmm... given how shadesmar is described, it seems like the shortest distance between any two points would be 'as the mole digs' - that is, straight through the unpopulated and compressed core of the planet.
  3. Check his conversation with Kaladin... I don't have an ebook, lemme dig up my paper copy for a transcript...
  4. Look at bendalloy, though. Let's say you spend a day drinking a hundred liters of water and filling up your bendalloymind. At the end of the day you're still at normal hydration, even though you drank most of niagra falls. If you then go into a desert and get really thirsty, you can tap your bendalloymind and refresh yourself - and you'll stay refreshed even after you've stopped tapping. It would be far more useful for Bronze to be storing 'mental energy' or 'sleep'. (IE: you sleep while storing bronze and end up getting less rested, but you can later tap for extra hours of sleep). As is, you're always going to end up with a worse ratio of time spent conscious to time spent unconscious. Which seems kinda unbalanced. The whole 'you go into a trance, neither getting more tired nor less' is very different from how feruchemy normally works as well. The entire ability is bizarre.
  5. He says that Hoid is a pseudonym in Stormlight Archive, IIRC.
  6. Ah, fair enough then. Personally I kind of think that storing wakefulness seems like kind of a ripoff. If you spend eight hours sleeping, you gain 16 hours of wakefulness out. On the other hand, if you spend 8 hours storing wakefulness with feruchemy, you get 8 hours (or less!) of wakefulness. It seems odd that it's a time-dependant thing, instead of just draining you and leaving you sleepy immediately.
  7. Ah, okay then. That's a little hard to locate. I'd kind of like the forums to be a litle bit... dimmer. The background is a little eyestraining. Also, is there a way to turn off the dynamic text editor in my preferences? It tends to have issues with copypasting from different formats, and I really prefer bbcode to WYSIWYG.
  8. I'm pretty sure he didn't fill weight while asleep.
  9. Of course technically he's always under a false name.
  10. Hey, I can't find the button for 'recently updated topics'. Can someone direct me to it?
  11. And he's so obvious in book one that Sanderson is obviously going to throw a curveball and have his plans all work out in the end.
  12. I don't think you can fill metalminds while asleep, so I don't see a reason why you'd be able to tap them.
  13. While we're at it, can we put in some sticky threads for frequently asked questions? The 'rule of 16 mist snapping' question, for instance, comes up in mistborn rather frequently, and having a sticky thread with the relevant quotes would be handy.
  14. He probably would have had Szeth change his clothing and go to bed, and properly dealt with him on a high int day.
  15. Is there a sheet of the alloy of law symbols anywhere?
  16. You could argue previously that having a powerful spirit automatically made you more heavily invested or vice versa - ie, having a heftier dose of preservation's power makes you more spirited, or being a drab (and less invested) resutls in being less spirited.
  17. Also Hoid is carrying around a bead of the stuff and could spike a ferring's drink with it for kicks and giggles. Edit: Edited for language
  18. I'd assume via lerasium you could.
  19. Well, Vin refers to them as Lord Rulers...
  20. Well, a distinct thing from spirit.
  21. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=715#1 http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=593 Question of mistborn vs shardbearer is kinda given.
  22. If I'm reading this right, odium left some power behind that wasn't there before.
  23. Actually, the latest few reddit responses are leading me to consider the possibility that there might be non-shard-based magic sources. Of course I could be reading WAY too much into this but... "In all of the cosmere's Shard-based magics, the greater portion of a bisected body regrows the lesser portion" opens up the possibility of non-Shard-based magics. And if odium is leaving some extra power on Sel that isn't his... I think our 'shards seen' count is up to date. Unless he dropped off a chunk of one of the other shards we already saw, it has to be some other source of power.
  24. Is that the case for Forging any more than it is for the kung-fu dor-access?
