  1. Overheard: We usually see multiple magic systems in a world, are there more magic systems in Warbreaker that we haven't seen yet? Answer: No, there's just the one system in Warbreaker, and it's also a world with only one Shard on it. Paraphrased, but this was the gist of it. I told Chaos about it while we were there.
  2. Maybe Seekers aren't seeing Feruchemists because Feruchemy affects the Spiritual realm differently. Where Allomancy is sent out as pulses, maybe Feruchemy is more of a tone? Which would mesh with Chaos's idea of it being on a weird "frequency".
  3. Slightly off topic, but I asked Brandon what happens when you Compound copper, and he RAFO'd me. Frustrating, but also interesting. I think he intends to use this later.
  4. I came to the same conclusion on what storing Investiture means. However, I'm not sure why you put quotes around the word magic (because the abilties in the cosmere are...y'know...magic). I would say that this is how TLR does his mass soothings, but nobody knew about nicrosil during the Final Empire, including TLR, despite his knowledge of other metals. I'd say that duralumin wouldn't work because that uses up your power really fast, too fast for TLR's extended soothings. Thinking of a Nicrosil Compounder, I asked Brandon whether increased skill in Nicrosil had any actual effect (phrasing it as a hemalurgy question), and he said that there was, that someone more powerful with a metal would get more out of it, no matter what metal you're using. Thus, Compounding Investiture would create a super powerful Nicrosil Misting.
  5. Yes, Harmony is Sazed, yes, he is a god. Harmony and Wax are having a conversation, so there's alternating lines of thought text for each one speaking. Yes, it's Marsh. No, he didn't die, he could heal from his injuries and has atium allomancy and feruchemy so he's immortal. Yes, we need a spoiler tag on this thread.
  6. I picked up the last Inheritance book, and in order to finish it before I go into the MTC, I'm picking back up on my reread, I'm about two thirds of the way through Eldest right now. I also read the Maze Runner last week, it was really good.
  7. I think Cuaiir's got it. Brandon has described burning a Feruchemical storage (I think in annotations) as creating a new allomantic metal.
  8. I'm against the idea of premium membership, it just seems like a bad idea for the community as a whole to create such a noticeable divide. Plushies, t-shirts, ads, go for whatever you need, just not that.
  9. I will accept your curse while cradling my copies.
  10. I'm pretty sure that Sliverism is the religion of the Steel Ministry passed down by Yomen and his Obligators over the centuries. The deity there would be TLR, and Ironeyes, as a Steel Inquisitor, a kind of "prophet" if you will, having a position of reverence in their doctrine. Remember, the Inquisitors were highly placed in the Ministry, probably preached as TLR's holy servants during the Final Empire. Whereas Survivorism would consider Inquisitors devils, due to their god slaying one just before TLR struck him down. The belief that Mistings and Feruchemists are "special" appears to be something that Miles used to rationalize his actions. He had special placing as a magic user and thus was allowed to do things that others can't. Trellism is in the Words of Founding (read: Sazed's copperminds), and as a pre-Ascension religion would have very little to say about Allomancy.
  11. The thing about speed is that you're not storing the rate of speed, but the capability for speed. Sazed describes storing speed as moving through molasses. Brandon kind of explained it like this to us at AoL, but in this example he's referring to strength. A person who can bench 300 lbs will have greater returns on their stored strength than someone who can only bench 100 lbs. If the 300 lb lifter stores half his strength, he will only be able to lift 150 lbs while storing, and can tap that to gain his strength half again for the same amount of time, meaning that he will be able to lift 450 lbs. Where someone who benches 100 lbs storing half his strength would lift 50 lbs and tap for 150 lbs. I think that's related to what you're referring to, anyway.
  12. I emailed Peter again. Should I inquire further on this topic?
  13. I emailed Peter about the rate from marks to broams and here's the response I got. The question I asked got a very clear answer, but the bit on the end is not quite something I understand. I'll have to ask him about that one.
  14. I had a blast last night, though it was a bit of a roller coaster not knowing if I would get a copy or not. But it all worked out!
  15. This seems like a good list, and I agree with your assessment of Chromium and Cadmium. The other four have been a conundrum that has plagued me for a while. Chaos suggested to me that they steal more human attributes like the Base in the upper half of the chart do, and I agree that it's possible. However, I like the idea that they can steal abilities from different magic systems, that each can steal powers from magic systems relating to a specific group of Shards. The division on that one is a little shaky, since Ruin and Preservation wouldn't be part of that, leaving 14 Shards, which doesn't split evenly into four groups. So I'm not really sure. The Ars Arcanum essay from AoL seems to suggest that this might be the case, but the evidence for more human attributes seems pretty good as well. Though I haven't the foggiest what they would steal. The new Feruchemy powers would suggest that Nicrosil and Duralumin would steal Spiritual aspects, but what Bendalloy and Electrum would steal baffles me.
  16. With a bunch of other WriMos at the write-in! Making some good progress, I think. Can't see my wordcount on this computer.

  17. I was hoping to be there in the morning on Monday, but that's looking less and less likely since I still don't have a ride and I'll need to use the family car, which won't be available until about six or six thirty. :\ Looks like I'll be up there in the evening. What time were you thinking for the 17S meet and greet, Rubix?
  18. I'm doing it. I'm 6K in and I'm going 2K a day so I end a few days early.
  19. I'm headed to the Argentina Cordoba mission, if that helps. I might see your friend anyway if we're going in on the same day. What's his name?

  20. I remember snippets, mostly. Probably the most vivid one (apart from a really nasty nightmare) is that I was in a car with my cousin, and we were driving off a series of cliffs, bouncing then falling repeatedly down cliffs. The feeling of falling is very distinct.
  21. This made Rock THE DOR/DOOR CANNOT BE KILLED! IT IS IMMORTAL!
  22. The fights in the second and third round are both 4 person fights. In round 2, it's two on two, round 3 is 4 way free for all. Frost, things look good, I just want you to put in where the Grid points are going. 2 for the Grid, 2 for the Evolver (since you're just over the limit on Forms, I'm assuming that's what you're doing), and one more that I don't know where it is. And, now that it is officially November, I have an announcement to make. If you've been following my posts around the forums for the last few months, you probably know that I'm leaving on an LDS mission to Argentina at the end of the month. I'll be gone for two years. One of my bigger worries about what I'm leaving behind is Nexus, as odd as that sounds. I don't want to leave you guys hanging. If it was only about six months, I'd just put the RP on hiatus while I'm gone, but it's not. I doubt we would be able to get traction again after two years of no activity. Thus, my plan has been to select someone to fill my place. I've asked Cuaiir to take over my role as GM while I'm gone, and he's accepted. We've been talking a lot about the future and the world of Nexus, and my plans and ideas for the RP. And, during this last month, we'll be co-GMing, to help smooth the transition. I honestly don't expect the changes to be too huge, but it'll most likely be jarring for a while to see someone other than me doing authority stuff here. But don't worry, I think he'll do a brilliant job, and I expect you guys to give him your full support.
  23. It has come again! NaNoWriMo starts on Tuesday! I've got a pretty good idea of what I'm doing, though there's that I really should get an idea for before I start. Sound off, NaNos! EDIT: BTW, I'm Keys on Fire on the nano site, if you want to add me as a writing buddy.
  24. High density plastic has magical effects, but only special trash cans can compress it enough, the other trash mixed in with it determines what kind of effect it has. Tumblr
