  1. Could the Skybreakers have been told to remain by the spren?
  2. Hi! welcome to the Shard! let's see here. What Hoid's doing, he's just collecting powers. He's becoming an ordinary magic user in many systems. What you say could be possible, but that would require the magic user to have a special amount of power, such as God King amount of breaths, Lord Ruler Allomancy (he gave it to himself using the Well, not Lerasium), or Dalinar-as-Bondsmith level power. we don't know where his Fortune powers come from. So, essentially it requires Sliver or near-Sliver level power.
  3. Good luck! we'll miss you.
  4. Lin Davar wasn't supposed to have a soulcaster. in case someone from the Veden government came to look at where he was getting his marble, he probably wanted something to show to them. Also, secretly soulcasting a statue would raise the question of where the marble came from, as well as who carved it. Remember, Roshar is formed by crem erosion and buildup over millennia, since the continent is a fractal. I doubt there is much in the way of natural marble. Maybe a little, but not much.
  5. Also, Honor had pretty bad futuresight, unlike Preservation, so Tanavast's plan is just educated guesses, like a superpowered Diagram. Made by someone incredibly smart, but still unabl to actually see the future.
  6. Glad you can join us. I did the same thing as you, except I actually signed in to this account to lurk. I've been posting since yesterday.
  7. Hey! welcome to the Shard! Who's your favorite character? (nice coding reference, btw)
  8. I agree with this. Based on the red eyes, a kandra is actually more likely than a Sleepless, but still not very likely. Kandra are products of an Invested Art, and that magic completely changes them mentally. Of course, either one might have the ability to make their eyes red on purpose, but what reason would the Faceless Immortal have to do that?
  9. I'd imagine it's similar to current/voltage with electricity. in a highstorm, you're drawing from a functionally infinite source of power, so the investiture voltage is high, but the amount of investiture going through the soulcaster per minute (the investiture current), let's say, is comparably low, since the gemstones can only hold so much. so you might not be able to soulcast a god metal because you don't wield enough power at any one time. Maybe a Radiant soulcaster could.
  10. It's common sense that Hoid, who knows of most things, would have at least heard of Nightblood.
  11. actually, I like that. don't spren and their Radiants start becoming "one" anyway? like, the spren fills cracks in their Radiant's spiritweb?
  12. But what, then, about Syl? Kaladin wouldn't abandon her.
  13. Dalinar himself does not have to ascend. He could "unite" Honor's splinters and give them to someone else or even give them to the Stormfather, which might make the Stormfather like (Mistborn: Secret History spoilers)
  14. I lurked for a year (that's where my rank name comes from) and I'm on a posting spree right now. I don't think I posted anything until yesterday.
  15. Most likely if the poison was more dangerous than you have stormlight for, it will still harm/kill you. Bloodmaking runs the same risk of not having enough healing to purge/negate the poison. Gold compounding heals probably any fatal injury or illness, but you could still run out. And if you drank one of Forton's posons? You're probably dead, because the investiture in the poison would resist the healing investiture. It would be significantly harder to heal.
  16. You may be right. As we saw with Bleeder, the new metal does not change the eyes. The body quote by itself could mean a murderous kandra, but it would have to be a really investiturally messed up kandra to have red eyes. Not just a new spike. So, it's likely that the Faceless Immortal is something else.
  17. As for the quote about the stolen body, couldn't that just mean that the kandra or another Set member killed the beggar so the kandra could have the bones?
  18. Doesn't Lopen claim to be an Alethi king because his mother convinced Elhokar to abdicate temporarily? Edit. Found the WOB:
  19. Here are some options that I can think of: Kali or Venladin. I vote Venladin.
  20. A possible answer is that Kaladin is bonded to an Honorspren (Syl) and Dalinar is bonded to the Stormfather, who are both splinters of Honor. Or it could be some sort of foreshadowing.
  21. I started on SA, I do agree that it was hard to jump right into because of it’s complexity. I have since read everything except the Arcanum Unbounded novellas.
