Nice. Have any of the DLCs or just scouring for shrines/Korok seeds?

Still splatoon, Paladins (basically overwatch but Switch supports it, and apparently came first...?) Smash 4 in preparation for Smash Ultimate (just pre-ordered it with the dlc and a gamecube controller. Delta Rune (just started)

Yes, I have both DLCs.  I have finished most of the DLC content, but haven't yet finished the Trials of the Sword.\

Hmm... I've never played any of the other games you mentioned.

As I understand it, the resealers basically for all intents and purposes had to clone his brain. Getting an arrow through your brain would pretty much be invariably fatal (unless you’re either ludicrously lucky or are Shallan/Veil, though I honestly think that Brandon put that in there purely for the lulz). So yeah, he would have been dead, and as Calderis said, his soul would have moved Beyond.

Unless, of course, Ashravan took a path similar to that of Kelsier, trapping himself in the Cognitive Realm...

    But that seems highly unlikely.

    The Rithmatist

    Spoiler

A boy who likes drawing with chalk meets a girl who likes drawing unicorns, the two then stop a bad guy from doing bad stuff.

The people of the Cosmere are culturally diverse. On Roshar the ten essences of Soulcasting look like the accepted wisdom.
On Scadrial however, Wax speaks of "eka-boron" as a component of an aluminium alloy. By our understanding eka-boron is aluminium. Hence he is refering to scandium. If you go strictly by by atomic number, that will be your answer. Hence they do not know quantum mechanics or atomic shells. It would be interesting to know whether they know spectroscopy.

Interesting examination, I had forgotten that part of the Mistborn Era Two quartet (currently a trilogy)-- time to re-read it!

IDK, sulfur is brimstone so I could guess at a few thematic reasons for it to matter otherwise, too...

True, and some elements of the Cosmere are inspired by real-world religions.

However, I don't think that sulfur is connected to evil (basically Odium) in the setting.

I highly doubt sulfur has any Cosmere significance. This is because metals interact more with investiture than nonmetals.

Denizens of the Cosmere have the same Periodic table as we do, only with the god metals added, please see Alloy of Law and Wax's metallurgy hobby.

Ah, I am still not sure that the people of the Cosmere have organized the elements by atomic density and electron/proton/neutron placement, but I know that they have the same elements as we do.

My post may not have made it clear, but I agree with you.  Sulfur likely has no significance in the Cosmere.  My "nebulous ideas" were idle speculations that even I found ridiculous.

  8. I suppose it may be possible, but I think that the divine aspect of 16 in the Cosmere probably relates more to its mathematical qualities.

Furthermore, I don't think that the denizens of the Cosmere have the same periodic table that we do.

However, possibilities for Sulfur in the Cosmere could be very interesting; here are a few nebulous ideas that I had:

    1. Compounding Sulfur could be affected by Shardic Investiture to a greater extent than other types of compounding.

    2. Sulfur-metal materials could have greater Hemalurgic potential.

Spoilers for Sixth of the Dusk, and future series:

First off, we know that Sixth of the Dusk takes place farthest forward in time of any Cosmere story. Second, we have a WoB confirming that we've met the Ones Above before in another book. Finally, in interviews, Brandon has said that he plans to do a Mistborn space opera in the future.

All these in mind, I'd like to propose that the Ones Above are, in fact, Scadrians. The only other major contender in my mind are the Selish, and them only because the cognitive realm is nigh inpossible to traverse on Sel.

Congratulations, I reached this conclusion on my own just a few months back.  I absolutely support the theory.
