How exactly does one steal the investiture of a radiant using hemalurgy? I would assume an atium spike is needed since atium is supposed to be able to steal any attribute, but when you steal their investiture do you force the spren to bond to you via the spike or do you simply take their ability to use stormlight without the spren?

Well yes, how much your body can handle is a limit, but I suppose one could ignore that. It isn't really a limit of what you can do, more what you'd want to do. So then there isn't a limit to what one can do, it just then may have negative side effects. But yes, either way there is still the issue with your body handling everything and honestly I'm not sure how to answer that. Brandon himself has said it's like bullet time and if you were going fast enough for that to be the case the forces acting on your body would be insane. Perhaps this is where Brandon's answer is 'magic'?

Perhaps, but no where else in feruchemy are there limits as to how much of an attribute you can tap, aside from how much you have stored of course. So perhaps there is a proportional amount of enhancement (i.e. not breaking under the forces and acceleration etc) provided to the amount of steel tapped?

You make a good point, a human wouldn't survive at supersonic speeds if they were not equipped correctly. But if a person is moving at ten times their usual speed (and that would include all their movements not just their legs) then their limbs would be moving so fast you likely would be unable to react fast enough. Someone doesn't simply have to be a blur for them to be moving faster than the human body can physically react. Atium doesn't enhance the body at all, only the mind, so a seer would still be too slow to react to the attacks. With pewter, maybe their reflexes would be improved enough to stop them, but only maybe.

Even if the people she shot weren't expecting her there, the fact that she shot four shots from four different places all aimed and accurate whilst they all were so close together it sounded like a single shot, then she was literally moving faster than sound.

Perhaps, But if a seer were to do that then they could even get the drop on a fulborn. Of course the seer has an inane advantage over anyone they are able to surprise, however this scenario was more of a fight between the two, not really if the seer were assassinating the steelrunner. So if the two encountered each other on the batlefield say, they would both quickly realise the abilities of the other and be able to use their own to try and counter this.

Welcome! I'm pretty new myself, but it is really fun on here.

Well that isn't ominous

Thanks for that.

Since I'm new I have no idea what Alleyverse is, I assume it's some sort of rp? How does it work and when/where do I use it?

So how much would a small metalmind, say a ring or an earring, actually be able to store? Sazed's rings in WoA which he prepares for the Battle of Luthadel had about ten minutes of charge in each, but it is implied that the reason for this is because he only had a short time to fill them. So presumably, they could have stored more. Since they are small I wouldn't imagine that they could store very much, but maybe an hour or so of charge could fit in something like a ring. An earring maybe less, more like half an hour perhaps? If anyone actually knows I would appreciate your input, either way I welcome discussion.

Yeah, I imagine they would just tap gold to deal with it, however I have on several occasions entertained the idea of implanted metalminds to prevent it being affected by allomancy. Perhaps a gold plated implant (so as to not react with the body) and then having an end exposed to the skin to allow for tapping of the metalmind?

Perhaps, but even with regular earings infections can be quite common. And on top of that, the main reason we can't use metals like iron or steel for implants is because the body will naturally oppose and try to remove the metal from the body (therefore the use of titanium). So why then wouldn't this issue translate to internal metal minds for feruchemists. Actually, the continued contact of metal with skin may very well cause irritation, perticularly once sweat gets involved, even on external metalminds. An easy solution is that the investiture stored in a piece of metal making it a metalmind alters it's effects on the human body. Any ideas?

Would there be any negative effects to a feruchemist having their metalminds inside their body for certain metals? This includes earings and piercings. Gold metalminds would have little issue as gold is largely inert (partly why it is popular in jewelry), however, having any other metal, especially copper, in your body would likely not be comfortable and become infected, whether it is in the form of an earing, or somehow an implant like The Lord Rulers bands of mourning or (temporarily) the rings in Sazed's abdomen. Does their nature as a metalmind remove the risk of infection or expulsion from the body? If not then why aren't feruchemists going around with infected piercings? An oversight by Brandon perhaps?

This isn't actually too spectacular. In real life people have come close to being able to catch arrows (not actually succeeding but coming quite close), and considering the fact that she was burning both pewter and atium would make up for that gap. Simply put, no matter what you can see in the future, if you can't react in time then all that foresight grants you is to know how you die.

I suppose having a full goldmind to heal any wounds they deal you would be a handy advantage.

Good to know.

I still wonder how exactly one would 'checkmate' an atium user. A seer would be easier, but how would you checkmate a mistborn. Not only can they see what you will do but they can react in many ways. Is this perhaps where feruchemical foresight may help?

Whilst that is insanely cool, is gold feruchemy actually capable of healing the soul? Whether it's compounded or not I was under the impression that it heals physically.

So Rashek is pretty much the most powerful being Brandon has created then.
-
Oh look! Another human. Hello human.

So I joined this place a few weeks ago and got straight into it rather than making an introduction post. So here it is. Hi all, I hope to improve my knowledge of the cosmere in my time here and to perhaps provide some useful input. I expect this to be rather fun.
-
How exactly did Rashek become as powerful as he did? Yes, his feruchemy was enhanced via compounding but that doesn't explain his immense strength as a mistborn. Nor was the fact that he became mistborn from lerasium because even Elend wasn't as strong as he. Was his power a result of a strong connection to preservation after ascending? If that's the case then why wasn't Vin uber strong after ascension? Or was he simply a savant in all metals, using feruchemy to heal the negative effects of his savantism? I welcome your input.
-
Yeah that seems the most likely scenario. I had always assumed as I read the series that Sazed had to learn as he went along and just managed to survive most of the time because he could rely so much on feruchemy.

That's similar to what I was suggesting Well all Sazed does when he saves Vin is whack the inquisitor with a rock. And in the siege of Luthadel when Sazed is preparing himself to fight the Koloss he reflects that he has no experience fighting. Also we don't know that Tindwyl fought very much. Ahe could simply have led her men (she is familiar with leadership) then die as soon as she had to fight.
