  1. When you have a rose in a pewter vase (leftover from my parents' anniversary) and keep switching between thinking about Steven Universe and Mistborn. 'Cause... Rose... but pewter... Now that would be a weird crossover.
  2. Sixteen is just an all-around great number. Aside from being used in baking and nature and stuff, it's also a square number, and a member of the binary sequence. (You can divide it by 2 evenly until you get to 1 ) (Math nerd ) (That's probably why it was so cool in MB, because you could logically categorize the Allomantic metals in groups of eight, then groups of four, then groups of two...) (Math nerd again)
  3. ^Double post Also, what the rusts is homany?
  4. Uhhh... I think he's in the middle of WoA. I gave him Elantris, then TFE, and he was really confused at first because he thought they were the same series
  5. Yeah He said I'd better be ready for him to talk about it incessantly and the obvious response was that not even incessant discussion was enough to do the Cosmere justice
  6. When someone says the name "Devina" and I swear I thought he said "Vivenna" and looked around for our favorite hair-changing royal. Well, maybe second favorite. Though she did have some great development. Also, one of my friends is reading through all my Cosmere books at an insane pace (I have to give him two books at a time every couple days) (It's really great)
  7. Hi, welcome to the Shard! You're in the right place to discuss deep, nerdy details of Sanderson novels! Have you read Mistborn Era 1, 2, or both? What about Secret History?
  8. When you make your dad give nightly book reports on HoA, which he's listening to on audiobook on his commute. (The narrator kinda helped spoil who was writing the epigraphs...) (But I was still really shocked when he figured it out like four chapters in) (It took me the entire book)
  9. That'd be fun. Storms. I could teach that class. ... Wow. Anyway. YKYASF when, in your saved stuff, you find this: and laugh and then are vaguely disturbed at how true it is. (The answer to the person's question is, of course, yes. Absolutely.) EDIT: Also when you miss each and every book so much that you constantly want to reread every single one of them simultaneously.
  10. When, at a bookstore, you see a book titled "Night Blood" and go totally crazy wondering how on Nalthis you could have missed that release until you realize that it's completely unrelated. And are very disappointed.
  11. Uhhh.... I recommend reading Archer's signature for a quick background on the whole cookie deal. (Learn from my mistakes ) Anyway YKYASF when you do a strange double-take when you realize that Kaladin's hair is longer than yours.
  12. @ElendVenture 1) Welcome to the Shard! 2) I LOVE your profile name. Wish I'd thought of it. 3) Posting two things in a row is frowned upon; if you want to add something, you can click "edit" on your original post.
  13. a) Yesss I love that! I'm totally using it. b) It's actually bigger than a lot of pocket dictionaries I've seen... c) One of the pest parts of WoK. People ask how the storms a book can be so big, and you get to explain it and (hopefully) convert them!
  14. How... How do... Never mind. I never have figured out how the grammar structure works. When, in the middle of a perfectly normal English class, you suddenly squeal in joy and startle everyone around you. (The progress bar moved to 25%) When (pause) okay, a little background. My mom always wants to get out of the car immediately when we arrive somewhere, even when a really awesome song comes on. Her excuse is "You'll hear it again later!" Neither my sister or I like it. (play) your main objection to turning off awesome songs is the First Ideal. (I mean, yeah, I'll probably hear it again, but never in this specific moment, and also, what if like the world ends or something? Then I would be forever waiting to hear that song again.)
  15. When you obsessively refresh Brandon Sanderson's website every 3.325 minutes to see if the progress bars have moved at all EDIT: Also, this happened in Materials Science (we were playing with shrinky dinks)
  16. That was the FIRST thing I thought. Great minds, right? And anyway, the way I often describe the Rosharian ecosystem to people is that it's like a tide pool. All crabs and snails and stuff that retracts into shells. If you think about it, Roshar is more reminiscent of an aquatic environment than a terrestrial one.
  17. When you need a sandershelf but don't have time to make one because you're too busy reading the books that would live on the sandershelf.
  18. YKYASF when you read every TFE character in the voices that Michael Kramer gave them in the audiobook. Often with the same inflection.
  19. When you see this (the image... Not sure where it'll go) and immediately think of Wayne... When someone recognizes your Mistborn book and you whisper "There's always another secret" and slide sneakily away while grinning like a maniac. When you're studying WWI and you wonder how it would've been different if they had soulcasters. When you don't even realize "soulcasters" isn't a word until Google tells you so. When you make all your passwords Cosmere-related. My last one was L!feBe4D3ath (I'm not using it anymore, which is why I'm posting it here...)
  20. Mysterious, unknowable power with near infinite potential hidden away in a place that's different but the same and just out of reach? If my wifi wasn't called StarWars, I would get my dad to change it right now! Also!! My ring was (soul)cast into silver!!! It looks great!
  21. I never thought about it that way... But yeah. Definitely. I do that. It never works, though...
  22. Cheetos, Dr. Pepper, and Sanderson on audiobook. The BEST kind of road trips.
  23. I think another notable point about that picture that supports the theory that it's Vedel is that she's surrounded by lifespren. Little glowing green specks. Each order has a corresponding kind of mindless spren, and I would bet you ten bucks that lifespren correspond with the Edgedancers. Also, her crown thing has the Edgedancer glyph on it.
  24. When you see this and I swear I jumped across the room Context: My materials science class is making rings, and I was looking at other people's. (It's blue because it's wax right now; we'll (soul)cast them into metal later.) Edit: The rectangular one's mine. It's supposed to be half the Willshaper glyph, but some of the proportions are messed up. (I still know what it is, though. It's the Intent that matters, right? )
  25. Niiiice. Which cosmere character with blue eyes is your favorite?
