"Sure, great!" Dan said, a smile coming onto his face. Why was he getting excited about this, again? "Okay, follow me." The distance to the recreational field was small enough that Dan could run there without wanting to fly instead, and he really needed to exercise his legs more. He started running over to the field. Dan jumped down next to Shae and smiled nervously. "Hi. I was wondering, um, you said that you can fight and I can too, so could we, uh...?" @ShadowLord_Lith

Dan curled up in his nest and furled his wings in over his back. That is like the gayest thing I've done since I last kissed my old boyfriend... oh moons... He fell asleep after what felt like forever, still thinking about Shae. Dan flew to the roof of the school, envisioning the blueprints he'd memorized of the place, then landed on one part of the roof above the art room with a skylight in it, and knocked on the glass. He'd already checked and seen that Shae wasn't in his room, or pretty much anywhere else, but he just really didn't want to have to walk in those hallways again. It had been a week since the thing had happened, and he and Shae had started being comfortable around each other again, finally. They'd worked on pottery for a few hours twice on different days, and Dan had flown Shae around once, though they hadn't talked much during that. Now Dan had a new idea of how to break the tension. @ShadowLord_Lith

Oh Sisters, WHY DID I DO THAT. "Yeah, I'll see you." He let go of Shae and backed away a few feet, blushing furiously despite his greatest efforts towards calming his face. He saluted Shae, for some reason, then hastily flew up to the roof, not looking back at Shae even though he really wanted to, and landed in his nest on the roof, collapsing forward into the straw and sticks. @ShadowLord_Lith

What is it with you and these two words, doggo? Dan just kinda stood still for a moment, then, on an instinct, leaned down and hugged Shae for a moment. @ShadowLord_Lith

Dan picked up Shae, digging his claws into the roof to avoid falling over, then jumped off the roof and flew back down to the dorms, in front of the door that was closest to Shae's room. He set down Shae down and said, "You're okay, right?" He was worried that Shae would've been scared of how fast he'd been flying... but Shae was a tough little human... @ShadowLord_Lith

"Y-yeah," Dan stuttered. Great, now he was stuttering. Okay, looking at Shae's smile kinda made his heart stop for a half-second, so that might be why he wasn't getting his words out right. "Can you stand up, so I can pick you up." That's just the greatest wording, ain't it. @ShadowLord_Lith

"Um, okay," Dan said, standing up and shrugging. Why was he still embarrassed? Why was he embarrassed at all? @ShadowLord_Lith

Dan had no idea what the point Shae was making was supposed to be, but his face was still completely red, and his ears were pressed way back on his head. "I don't really, uh," Dan mumbled, "I don't know what I'm supposed to-- should I just take you back to the dorms?" @ShadowLord_Lith

Dan scrambled to sit up, blushing red as blood all over his face. Oh Sisters. I just kissed him. Well, uh, more like he fell on top of me and kissed me, but what if he’s not gay? Why do I care if he’s not gay? What’s the deal with me? “I’m sorry,” he mumbled to Shae. “I’m sorry.” @ShadowLord_Lith

Oh holy... geez... Dan tried to move his arms to shove Shae back, but he couldn’t conjure to focus to do so. @ShadowLord_Lith

Dan kept rolling and smiling. He hadn't felt this happy in a long time. @ShadowLord_Lith

Dan flopped back so he was lying down, involuntarily, and smiled the smile of a dog who is getting his belly rubbed. Thinking of Shae hurt, with a black eye... dampened his joy a little, but he still smiled. He rolled a little, and one of his legs kicked a few times. @ShadowLord_Lith

"You went through a Perpendicularity, or something?" Dan said, then blushed at what he immediately thought of. "Could you rub my ears again, please? I'll owe you for it." @ShadowLord_Lith

Oh, does he want me to lick it now? Dan leaned over and licked the wound thoroughly until it stopped bleeding. "Okay, does it hurt that much?" Dan asked, looking up at Shae's face with concern. He really wanted Shae to not be in pain, for some reason. Also... best of both worlds. Hearing that from Shae was like having a fire in Dan's heart, which was weird. @ShadowLord_Lith

“It’s a cat sound,” Dan repeated, “and cats are weird.” He scooted back over to Shae and flicked his ears forward. @ShadowLord_Lith

Dan blushed since Shae was blushing, and backed off a bit. “Sorry, but my saliva’ll clog the wound and make sure that you don’t bleed any more. It makes it hurt less, too, I think. Sorry.” @ShadowLord_Lith

“Wait, oh Sisters,” Dan said, going down to his knees next to Shae, “did I hit you with my horns? I’m so sorry.” He felt an urge to lick Shae’s arm, which would clog the cut and keep it from bleeding further. He didn’t know if Shae would be okay with that, but he also didn’t have any bandages, so he leaned over and licked Shae’s arm a few times. @ShadowLord_Lith

"Wait a sec!" Dan said, bolting to his feet. "I was making a cat noise. That is definitely not okay." Dan started to panic. @ShadowLord_Lith

Dan made a face, then, completely to his own surprise, actually purred. He hadn't even known that he could purr. @ShadowLord_Lith

This perfectly describes my best friend trying to climb walls. Coincidentally, these two words perfectly describe my best friend. Side note: It just occurred to me what I'm typing. A story about a guy scratching another guy's ears. Dan kept wriggling and panting for a minute, just enjoying the moment, before he furled his wings in and collapsed backward. @ShadowLord_Lith

A completely happy smile spread over Dan's face at this, and he wiggled his whole body, since he didn't have a tail. Hmm, Shae is definitely deserving of best friend-ness. Scratching a dude's dog-ears even though you don't have to? That's just awesome. @ShadowLord_Lith
