I totally agree as for my imagination of Ryshadium also goes for Fresians (or perhaps Shire horses which might be closer to the Clydesdale, I don't know in mind and I'm nearly asleep ). I also agree on the origin of Ryshadium as an equivalent to the former war horses.

Horse ==|== horse. So the real question is: What type or race of horse is "normal" to the Rosharians? Aside from that question I personally think that horses (or dogs or cats etc) are sentient and more or less sapient, too. edit: And I'm sure they are special, anyway BS said there is Investiture involved.

A mod might do, yes. It's not possible to delete a post but you can hide it. Next to "edit" is "hide". (It goes: report - edit - hide - multiquote - quote.)

@Andarist: If you don't mind I'd advice to edit one post for additional thoughts so don't do double posts. It might be a mod will hint you at that too. This! (Though I don't no know the English original.) I very much like it. But it's not a male PoV neither (at least mostly). edit: what an embarrassing typo

@ Smurf: Maxal said what I thought reading your answer.

@ Delightful: I'm sorry ... @ Smurf: Though you might have given information somewhere I don't know about your healthwise background. But I agree with Traceria that you should try to see a doctor. "Self-medication" seems not to be the right thing (though I'm not really sure I understood your post right.) @ all: You and your abbreviations I found what "GP" means, but what is a "HR Person"?

Metals And Mists: Questions On Allomantic Fundamentals
Meg replied to Moogle's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@ Skaa: Thanks again for your explanation. And excuse me for my bad wording. I should have written "adjusting" or a similar word instead of correcting (though if I'm definitely wrong I appreciate correcting too). It's around midnight here and I won't answer now for the sake of more clarity. The Well of Ascension is not Ruin's Shardpool. Where did you get this information? Ruin's Shardpool are the Pits of Hatsin.1 -
Metals And Mists: Questions On Allomantic Fundamentals

@Skaa: Thank you very much for your reply. As for I'm at work I can't read it intensly at the moment, but be assured that I do really appreciate when one is replying (and -- if necessary -- correcting) me. -
Metals And Mists: Questions On Allomantic Fundamentals
Meg replied to Moogle's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Why do some of you think there are different types of Investiture? I've found that WoB I spoke in Blaze's thread of -- it's quoted in Moogle's opening post in this thread: source I emphasized more than Moogle in his post because I think that whole description is fundamental. My gut says there is only one Investiture. That is somewhere around where it has to be drawn from through the means of the "manifestations of this power in mortal form." So there is Investiture, the Power of Creation. As for Adonalsium is shattered the Shards grant access to Investiture. The Shards have different Intents, but the Investiture is always the same. The use of Investiture on the different Shardworlds is siphoned by the Shards and their Intents and how the Shards created or adjusted the SpiritWebs of the inhabitants on their Shardworlds. So I think there is no converting of Preservation to Ruin or such. But I also think there is no converting of "Commanded Breath" to "Breath" or vice versa. Breath is Breath, Investiture is Investiture. The only difference is if the "magic" is end-positive, end-neutral or end-negative. But that's not a thing of Investiture but of the form of magic used. The Investiture, the power used to do "magic", is always the same, only the means by which this power is accessed and used differs because there are different "distributors" with different Intents. Presumably Surgebinding is the "manifestation of this power in mortal form" on Roshar. As well as Breathes are on Nalthis. Different Shards did create different possibilities to access Investiture and different adjustments in "their" human's SpiritWeb, probably in relation to their Intents and their intentions when they created or moved to their Shardworlds. Surely this is disputable. Edit: I found a WoB that seems to contradict my ideas above: source, Weller Book Works Signing, Nov 6th, 2012 Though if Odium would pick up pieces of Devotion it would change him. But then: Devotion's Investiture is -- by my theory -- Investiture "siphoned" by Devotion's Intent, so not the basic Investiture would change Odium but Devotion's "stamp" on Investiture. It's too late, I fear I babbled around. -
That's how I understand the following two excerpts from WoBs that I stole from Moogles OP in his related thread (emphasizes mine): source source And there is a WoB or may be it comes from an annotation or such, that says that the metals are the means by which the Scadrials understand to use the Scadrial "magic system". I can't find it now, I'm too tired, sorry.

Metals And Mists: Questions On Allomantic Fundamentals

If I understand the description in The Well of Ascension write, Vin did swallow the liquid from the pool. The Well of Ascension, Chapter 58 At least I think that she didn't spit out what "choked and gagged" her. A normal reflex would be to swallow, wouldn't it? -
Metals And Mists: Questions On Allomantic Fundamentals
Meg replied to Moogle's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@Moogle: Bear with me, if I'm totally wrong. This could be on the one hand because I've not yet read Alloy of Law and on the other hand because I might have misunderstood your problem. I see one great difference between a Misting or a *normal* Mistborn and Vin. IIRC only she used the mists directly. And only Vin used the Well of Ascension! Though she's 'only' a Sliver, she surely has the best connection to the power of creation of all the people around her (since The Lord Ruler was dead). Thus I think she could draw directly on the mists (with all the side effects). source edit: deleting br-commands and adding quote -
Thanks a lot!

It's interesting to read through that thread. I knew that my dislike of Mistborn -- and I still haven't read Alloy -- is a minority opinion. But it seems I'm total in the contrary to most. I like them all Elantris as well as Warbreaker and I'm totally sucked in with The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance. I love Kaladin and Dalinar. I like most of the characters though my true favorite is Syl. I don't like Shallan. I didn't like her in TWoK and I don't like her in WoR. She feels too exaggerated to me. The poor girl who leaves home for saving her family. I dislike her as I do Vin (Lift might join this list, I'm not sure yet, we'll have to read more about her). Sorry for being off topic, I just had to say that.

Did you finish that book already? I'm curious about your "review" when you're through. I've read (though in German translation) Black Company years ago and I liked them very much. Thus if The Thousand Names were similar I'd give it a try. edit: Might I kindly ask if you could tell about his the writing style of this author. Is it more like Mr. Sanderson's style or more like Rothfuss? Thanks in advance. As for I normally don't search around for authors and such I hope I don't hit a nerve when I say that I'm a bit surprised nobody mentioned Michael Stackpole's The Dragencrown War or the Crown Colonies series or Realms of Chaos. Does he have such a bad reputation?

*hugs* I hope you can find another job soon. I've always been to cowardly to make this step and leave. Now I'm over 25 years at this work and I love it and I hate it, same goes for myself. I'm doing the German equivalent of a paralegal though I don't have any ideas about what a paralegal exactly does. I mean, here in Germany it is mostly about doing secretarial work including making invoices and foreclosure -- at least that's how it works in my office. Dict.cc tells me that the translation for "Rechtsanwaltsfachangestellte" (I'd translate it as lawyer's qualified employee ) is paralegal or legal assistant. As for I only know my office I can't tell if there's a lot of us doing more than mentioned above, but some sure do, as I found out by reading through forums. I totally understand your frustration when receiving that email. As if it wouldn't be embarrassing enough to not get needed information, it's really like getting hit when such reactions follow. Anyways I don't understand why some people think that one has to know all, without getting informed themselves. My colleagues (or coworkers? I don't really understand the difference) come and ask me things that really make me wonder if they believe I can read minds (those of my bosses or other colleagues). As a side note: Last year when I was in holidays (I've only been at home and told them, they could call me if they need help), the colleague called me and asked me if I knew how to send an express letter to the USA. So -- am I a post office? For each and every bagatelle they ask google, but not how to send (and frank) an express letter to the USA. I couldn't help but laugh and tell them, they should look in the Internet or ask the post office. I haven't been angry with them but this example shows how they sometimes rely on me as an roundabout information office. And my bosses aren't much better (though they give less information ...). Yeah, it's all weird.

Thanks Blaze and Traceria for your words and the hugs. It helps to see that others, too, can see the "wrongness" in this event.

The one scene is in Words of Radiance, Chapter 59 "Fleet" and the other is in Words of Radiance, Chapter 46 "Patriots".

Today one of our clients came -- needless to say: without appointment. He's done this at least around 15 or 20 times before, and was always told that it doesn't work this way. Unsuccessfully, as can be seen. When I told him my chief isn't in, he dared say, he came to talk to me. But then, I'm only the secretary and had talked to him about his problems (not for the first time) just a few days ago. I can't go into details, but in short: It's outside of our (my chiefs) influence to achieve the result the client wants in the time frame that he demands. We can only remind the authorities but we can not press. These facts were told to the client a few times before and in the phone call a few days ago and personally today. But he didn't give in and pestered me long enough that I raised my voice. Apparently until I shouted. This in front of other clients. Then, in addition, the technician -- long awaited -- came for some problems with our phone lines. As for I couldn't help the client, and because we had the same discussion a few days ago on the phone, I said he should go now and backed away to help the technician. But I saw that the client didn't leave. I've been on the brink of getting a crying fit and asked another chief to rid me (is this right?) of this person. Talking about the problem with the phone lines with the technician made me calm down a bit, though I still was on edge. And then: My chief managed to make the client go but came at me, why I was shouting, and shouting -- especially in front of other clients -- is an absolute no-no ... This happened in the corridor, where all others could hear it. And ran away in my office, slammed the door shut and shouted "Thanks for your help." (that was meant sarcastic). And now I couldn't choke back the crying fit anymore. I've been that disappointed? Why didn't someone come when they noticed I had a problem with this client? Come for help or to take my away for a "calm down"? Why wait until I'm shouting? It's not that I don't know or don't see that it's a no-go to shout at clients. I know this! But in such moments I feel helpless and then such things happen. Why? Why not help but come at me? She could at least have waited until I calmed down a bit, not there on the corridor and while other clients and the technician where around? I, as for I'm an idiot, I would have tried to help. I should at least stop this!

You didn't look at that part in The Way of Kings, did you? Then you would have seen that it's not at all about the scene with Tien. Its the last sentence of Chapter 41 (as Slowswift said). Your mixing up two -- yet important -- phrases that Kaladin has imprinted in his head. What you mean is: The Way of Kings, Chapter 32 It comes up in other chapters, too, also in the chapter with Tien's death.

Reading of snow here I remembered that the weather forecast told of snow for the night. And really it's a bit whiter than yesterday. And it actually snows but only little snowflakes that don't help for a white landscape. Living not far from the German-Austrian Alps I'm used to snow. I admit that I can't imagine what it would be like to never have seen snow. Having winter forever -- I wouldn't want it. That's too cold. edit: The emoticon crashed the post.

In such cases the first thing is to try (and err ). Since I get bored if that doesn't work I would look for similarities or if I'm able to see kind of a scheme. This is how Meg works . Thus I'm sorry, I can't provide you with how exactly I did this. Edit and PS: Your post showed how it doesn't work so I hadn't to include those possibilities. And what made it quite more fascinating was the fact that I haven't done something on the wiki for a long time and some of the wiki-commands are replaced (so that making trouble).

You're welcome. I didn't know, too, but I wanted to know. It took time but I figured out how it works. edit: typo

I think that most of the "immortals" we saw yet are not really immortal but don't die by age. I believe that Hoid is such an immortal. But what about the Heralds. They "die" but then suffer from torture and they came back for every desolation. This might be the reason why their Honorblades don't stay in the Physical Realm when they "die". It seems to me that the only "really Immortals" we yet know of are the Heralds. (Did anyone ever ask what happens to a Herald if they were killed after the Last Desolation and after they left the Oathpact?) If it wouldn't matter in any way it should be cast out. Though you are right that the reputation points shouldn't matter -- especially because it seems that most of them are given for role playing or other "games" -- it's nice to get points. And to be downvoted without any obvious reason is frustrating.
