The Ire's fortress wasn't built in the Selish CR, it's in the interplanetary space between Sel and Scadrial. If anything, it's probably closer to Scadrial as Kelsier was able to reach it without hitting the limit of his travel, suggesting he was still in the Scadrian sphere of influence. The Dor is probably still around and unlikely to disappear anytime soon, unless someone manages to ascend to either Devotion or Dominion.

So just a quick question I wanted to clarify. In the Arcanum Unbounded Entry for Sel, Khriss references "multiple empires". My question is, what are the three empires? One is Fjordell and another is the Rose Empire, but what is the third? The only other options are either Elantris/Aonic kingdoms (Arelon, Teod, Duladel), which doesn't seem to fit with the comparitive size/relationship of the other two, or JinDo which is technically a part of the Fjordell Empire.

Endowment as Dragon? Pfft. Obviously its the Survival Shard, who's living on Vax, with all the missing Shardblades and Kelsier and probably Unity as well. Who is also the Evil from Threnody, which was actually created by Hoid.

I like to think that his scars and new body is most similar to what we see in the Heralds. A new, physical body which contains an immortal cognitive shadow and keeps the same appearance (with cognitive blocks notwithstanding). Except created out of Hemalurgy instead of whatever the Oathpact is.

Why is MBE4 the end of the Cosmere story?
Slimy_Slider replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yeah, it was pretty cool to have one of my questions get answered. I did post about 5 or 6 and the kandra one was probably the least exciting one, but still good, especially considering the fact that I'm not likely to get to go to most Q&A/Signing events. -
You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Slimy_Slider replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you're doing your QCS test (for anyone who doesn't know, the Queensland Core Skills test is a big 4 part literacy/numeracy test you do in your final year of school as a means of scaling your grades to generate an Overall Position [OP] score) and one of the questions is about metals. And you freak out and get super annoyed because they listed bronze as being made up of copper and zinc when it should be copper and tin. -
Why is MBE4 the end of the Cosmere story?
Slimy_Slider replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I asked Brandon about Kandra lifespans in the Read for Pixels livestream the other week. His answer was that Kandra not only have a lifespan, but we've seen an example of ageing in the First Generation. Assuming that living a sedentary lifestyle may have made them a little less healthy, that's a sign of age-related degradation at about 1000 years. I mention the sedentary thing because TenSoon, ReLuur and Paalm were all of the third generation so come the time of Era 2, they would have been equivalent ages, yet they don't show anything similar to the First. So depending on how much time it takes to get to Era 4, that could potentially mean a loss of most, if not all of the current Kandra. Unless Harmony interferes to make more of course. -
Little bit of bitterness between Autonomy and Endowment slipping through into religion there?

Crackpot (probably) theory about Autonomy
Slimy_Slider replied to Fanghur Rahl's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I wonder, if we take the "Trell as Autonomy" theory and look at her fight with Harmony, if we can make a little assumption. Quick theory, Trell is stalling for help from Odium. Harmony is a powerful shard and while Autonomy might be better practiced at using the power, she is still likely worried about a direct confrontation. So, she has two options. 1. Don't fight face-to-face and use proxy agents to work against Harmony. We see her do this with the Set and as Trell. 2. Call in some backup. Autonomy and Odium have worked together against shards before, in some way. There is a WoB somewhere that Odium is worried about the potential threat of Harmony, so taking an alliance to deal with him would benefit both shards. If we look at both these ideas, we can see that "Trell" is definitely pursuing option 1. However, there's no reason not to do both. Miles' words during his executions are particularly interesting. AoL Spoilers: Red seems to be a colour that Trell is representing, at least, we see that the image Harmony shows Wax is red. Gold is the interesting part, though. Nowhere, at least as far as I know, is there a link between Trell and the colour gold. Who does like to be seen as golden? Odium. Throughout parts of OB, we see Odium wearing gold, appearing golden. His (presumed) God Metal is gold-like. And if you believe the theory that the 'Monster' ReLuur saw was a singer, then it could indicate that Odium has an involvement or is at least considering one. For the record, I do not believe that we will see Odium show up in The Lost Metal. That would reveal far too much about the events of Stormlight, which has been going on parallel to the whole Era 2. But I do think that there could be a few hints towards this hiding in the book. -
Why is MBE4 the end of the Cosmere story?
Slimy_Slider replied to Ripheus23's topic in Cosmere Discussion
While I can see Cognitive Worldhopping methods getting harder, I'm not sure that it's going to be ruled out totally. Even nowadays, in a modern society, most people don't really understand how big space is, relatively. There's a point at which out brains just lose all relative sense of numbers and size and it's not particuarly high. -
Unless a full feruchemist pops up in the North or Hemalurgy becomes a thing, thereby accelerating the localised production of medallions. Not likely to happen anytime soon but still, I imagine the first Northern person who is able to make a medallion is going to become very wealthy, very quickly.

Just what the Basin needs, more societal oppression and class discrimination. I can totally see this being a relevant point in The Lost Metal.

On a similar topic, I wonder if taking up the combined powers of Ruin and Preservation would have caused Sazed's mind to expand at a greater rate or to a greater extent than a single-shard ascension.

Mr Terry Pratchett would disagree with you on that point . She mentions in Edgedancer that there is a kind of Western animal (possibly Goat, Sheep or Cattle) that she didn't like the taste of. Also, the grain mash/paste thing that Stump gives her as part of the free meals she mentions she doesn't like.

Purely on the name, I'm gonna suggest Chemoarish, the Dustmother, might be somehow connected to the Dustbringers. Maybe that's why they preferred to be called Releasers. I've seen this idea suggested before and I like the theory that Ashertmarn could be an inverse of the Skybreakers, pleasure and emotion before all discipline to their total adherence to codes and lack of empathy. At least, the current Skybreakers and their leader are having some issues with that right now.

Nice. Always good to see more cosmere flavoured gaming additions. I'm pretty sure I've seen an Allomancy mod on the Workshop somewhere, but I can't remember what the traits actually added.

Most memorable emotional moment for me? When I read the last book in the Realm of the Elderlings collection, by Robin Hobb. Major spoilers for the entire collection below, by the way.

Possible end of perpendiculariry
Slimy_Slider replied to Kaladin_The_Stormblessed's question in Cosmere Q&A
Seeing as how Shardpools and Godmetals are just Shard-Keyed Investiture in different states, I don't see why it wouldn't be theoretically possible. The only issue is the power levels. Investiture resists Investiture and seeing as how both the initial and desired substance are just pure Investiture, it would probably be very difficult to force even more into it. It might be doable, but the power levels would have to be off the charts. Even if it was done, I assume that the newly solidified perpendicularity would either quickly degrade back to it's original form, the Investiture fighting the forced change, or a new perpendicularity would form as per the Shard's level of Investment on the planet. -
Let's make wolves the heroes for once
Slimy_Slider replied to KeyraDK's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Have you ever read Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy? I think you might enjoy some of it, if you want to see wolves in a positive light. -
Just watched the first two seasons of Detectorists on Netflix recently. Really great, a sitcom that is actually clever and funny, with engaging characters and proper stories is something that is pretty rare nowadays. Would highly recommend to anyone else who is looking for a low-octane, relaxing show. Can't wait for season 3 to get to Netflix.

About Szeth's Surgebinding Abilities
Slimy_Slider replied to Kaladin_The_Stormblessed's topic in Stormlight Archive
Keep in mind that at the Battle of Thaylen Field, Nale was hovering in the sky watching the entire time and he would probably count as a master Radiant. He does actually bond a spren at this point as well, it just hasn't come out yet. Possibly scared of the insane super-sword that loves to eat Investiture. -
The confusing Essence of Spark
Slimy_Slider replied to Shaukan-son-Hasweth's topic in Stormlight Archive
The only way I could see that wouldn't result in a massive explosion is that the missing/extra mass of the object would be transformed into Investiture, the amount of which would probably be based on the perception of how much mass/energy the user thought should be conserved. -
Two Accounts of the Girl Who Looked Up
Slimy_Slider replied to Pagerunner's topic in Stormlight Archive
I like the ideas here and I think you are probably very close with the metaphorical nature of the Story. As to the Rosharan Historical basis, I have my own theory that Hoid, as the girl who looked up, was responsible for triggering the desolations. He was close to the Singers at the time of the first desolations, his POV chapter at the end of OB mentions that he had danced with one of the fused before. As they were the original Singers who went to Odium, this implies pretty strongly that he was there. Hoid also mentions that if Odium and his forces discovered him in Kholinar, then the entire city would be Raysed (Sorry-not-Sorry). For the most part, the Fused seem to follow Odium but they are shown to disagree with him on some issues. Destroying an entire city which could be used by the new Singers is likely not something they would be eager to do and while Odium could force or threaten them, it would still be somewhat reluctant. Unless of course, the Fused themselves had a vested interest in finding him. Again, this is supported by more in-text references, as Hoid states that they had been "Trained to watch for him". So at one point, just before the desolations began, Hoid was besties with the Singers and now they all hate his guts enough to annihilate an entire city. I can only think of one thing which would cause such a rapid turnaround: Betrayal. Assuming that Hoid betrayed the Singers, by stealing Stormlight (God's Light could also apply here, as Stormlight is investiture and Adonalsium was basically a ton of Investiture) or otherwise prompting a human invasion. Possibly this could even relate to the betrayal of the spren referenced by the Listeners in WoR, where they swapped Singers for the more engaging Humans. As to why he would do this, Hoid has already told Dalinar that he would be willing to destroy Roshar for his goals. If starting thousands of years of war resulted in trapping Odium (and potentially defeating him, depending on how the series goes), would it be worth it to him? I think so. But hey, that's just a theory... A cosmere crackpot theory! Thanks for putting up with my insane ranting reading, feel free to put your helpful comments expertly WoB-supported refutations below.
