  1. As Max felt his breath catch and his heart pound, he felt her lips touch and he exploded with passion. The feeling, the softness. He closed his eyes for the moment and savoured it. Then, when it was over, he slowly pulled away, his hands moving up to her head. “I love you,” he said. Then, slowly, he nodded to himself. “And yes. I think I’m ready.” He kissed her again.
  2. Max listened quietly to Althea, not saying anything. There was no one here but the two of them, in the wedding hall, in the middle of pouring rain. No one else to see him this in grief, this... vulnerable. She stroked his back, and Max accepted the gesture, the comfort. It made him feel just a little bit warmer. "Thanks," he said, loosening the hug, but still not wanting to exit the moment. He paused, then stood up a little straighter. "But I'm already fine." He smiled. "Honestly. This all, it's helped, a lot."
  3. She moved to hug him. “Oh, don’t ruin your clothes,” he tried to say, concerned for her but she’d already hugged him. Max felt the hug, the comfort, and relaxed into her grip. Althea said she panicked. “It’s okay,” he whispered, hugging her back. “Sorry for leaving, it’s just -” he choked up. “Master Sheonar died. He was the closest thing to a father for me and now... now he’s gone.” He hadn’t really said how he’d felt to anyone, but he felt comfortable around Althea.
  4. Suddenly a figure burst through the double doors of the wedding building, dripping water on the carpet as he stopped, and looked up at the wedding altar. Althea wasn't there. Panting, Max checked his reflection in a window. He was a mess. His suit was ripped, and dirty, and soaked in water. Outside, it began pouring rain. He was so cold, but the inside of this building was warmer, and dry, which was amazing. And now, after everything, was Althea also gone? "Althea?" He called, but didn't have the strength to make it too loud.
  5. Max nodded absently as Silphio led him out. The last thing he saw as he exited was Astiel trying on the Canton robes. Together. All three of them would run the Canton together. As he closed the door, Max considered all that had happened, and slumped against the wall. He wanted to give up, to just... but no. He couldn't. Running to his quarters in the Canton and placing the case on his bed for later, Max ran out of the building in the rain, and tried running back to the wedding hall. He slipped a couple times on the way, the cobblestones were really slippery during rain and his balance issues weren't doing him any favours. All the time he was running, the same thoughts repeated in his head. The same thoughts, that he couldn't stop thinking, that he couldn't stop from plaguing him. He tried running away from those, too, but they always seemed to catch up. It was like he was in a ocean of feelings, of sadness. He had to make it to the lighthouse, the safe haven. He turned a corner and saw the wedding building. There it was.
  6. Max listened as Silph spoke, feeling increasingly dejected. Silph didn’t deserve this, to have so much responsibility suddenly thrust upon him. Max moved to sit down but stopped himself. It felt wrong, so wrong. It made him sick just to be in this room. It reminded him of Master Sheonar. The happy memories of him only pained Max more. Silph didn’t deserve this. No one did. Looking up from the ground, Max observed the cases, the robes. He had to help. He had to. He looked down again. But what about the wedding? What about Althea? This was their day. But... later. It could be done later, right? No! He thought, forcing his head up. Not later. You’ve always pushed it to later. It was supposed to be now. Now, with Althea. But he couldn’t just leave Silph, right? He couldn’t leave him to the bureaucracy, to the training. He couldn’t. “Silph,” he said, looking up. “I...” He struggled to form the words so he just gestures to his clothing, a tattered tuxedo. “It’s my wedding day,” he said. “And I, I promise, I will help you. I promise I will wear the robes. But I can’t today, Silph, I’m so sorry,” he looked back down.
  7. It took about 15 minutes of constant running to get to the Canton. Max didn’t have his armour anymore, and every 5 or so minutes he’d stumble and fall to the pavement, before bringing himself up and running. The suit was annoying. It stifled his movements. By the time Max reached the familiar Canton gate, it was ripped in a couple places and was a mess. His feelings still surged. Master Sheonar had raised him. Him and Mara. And now, Master Sheonar was also dead. “Silph!” he called, now inside the Canton. He’d said he needed to talk with Max in person. It began to rain lightly. @Nohadon
  8. Just as Max asked about invites a pigeon came flying through the hall. Before it flew off it dropped a piece of paper, which Max caught, still keeping a hand on Althea to not collapse. Opening it, he saw that it was in Silphio’s handwriting. That was great! A message from him on Max’s wedding day! Smiling he began to read. Max smiled. A little brother. He wondered what Silph would think of him now, getting married to the loved of his life. He needed Max’s help, however. Max read on. Max’s breath caught, and he read over the line of handwriting again. And again. And again. He began to feel a numbness, and a surge of emotions. Dead? Dead. Dead! He suddenly felt powerless. No, it couldn’t be. Not now! Not today! Max wanted to say something, but his throat wouldn’t do it. His face dropped. This was a nightmare, invading his dream. He couldn’t ignore it. But what about now? With Althea? But, Silph. He needed him. “I’m going to be back,” he whispered to Althea. “Just taking a quick jog to the Canton to tell them about the marriage.” And he took off, running, but four steps in and he lost his balance and hit the ground hard. Forcing himself to get up, to adjust to the sudden lightness he felt without his armour, he trudged on, to the Canton.
  9. Seeing Nekorb run off, Alask tried thinking of how to explain the Metallurgy and Investiture sale. “It was sort of a mall for items of Investiture,” he said. “Definitely one of the more commercialised shopping places. It’s quite old, and it hasn’t been used all that often lately, but maybe that’s to be inconspicuous.” He looked at the match book. Where could it have come from?
  10. So, how do you join the Reckoners RPG? I mean, like where do you put character sheets and things like that?
  11. But while DA members are powerful, they aren’t edgelords, they’re pointlords. (get it? because spikes don’t have edges, they have... okay, I’ll go now)
  12. I mean, people like the overpowered edgelords that are already here, so you should be fine :-)
  13. “Are you alright?” Max looked over himself and shook his head. “No, I’m pretty uninjured, it seems. It’s just, my balance is a bit off, since I spent so many days wearing that armour.” He was grateful for it, though. That way he could continue holding onto Althea, and they could continue standing together. She said she could take him to the hospital, and Max felt happy at how much she cared, but shook his head. Taking a deep breath he looked around. “So,” he said, his heart still not slowing. “A wedding. Should we send invites or something?”
  14. She'd smiled. That was good. It meant Max had said the right thing. He thought. She began to walk towards him, and Max stopped leaning against the wall for balance as she took his hands. Hers were cool, and soft. Standing up straight, Max was grateful for the hands, they helped him balance after wearing the armour for so long. He realised this was the first time Althea had actually touched him. Not his armour, but him. He smiled more as he realised this was the first time he'd had physical contact with her as well. Now. It was all now. They'd endured until later, and now they could celebrate. And it made Max happy, this moment, in the hall. He met her eye contact and she complimented him, which only made him grow warmer inside. "Thanks," he said, looking at Althea. He realised just how pretty she looked in the dress, how her eyes just shined perfectly in the light. Like a dream. "And you're really..." how could he describe it? The way everything came together, how she looked. "I can't describe it. You're just tyat beautiful." Ever since he'd first met her, this was the longest she'd smiled. And that made him keep smiling too. "And I want to stay with you too," he said. "Together."
  15. One moment Max was kneeling by Solace, and in the next he was somewhere else. In some sort of hall, with chairs lined up, and an altar? Standing up Max immediately collapsed on the ground, smiling. He hadn't felt this light in forever! He'd become so used to wearing his armour around, now that he was somehow wearing a suit, he felt so light. Continuing to lie on the ground, he listened to Althea. She was right, Solace had saved them again. She asked if he wanted her to check the link, but then said it could wait. Max found it difficult to contain worry for Solace, but he pushed that to later and focused on now. If Solace teleported them... it meant he'd used his powers for good. Which meant he'd faced his fears. Which meant he was practically in no danger from the wannabe lord and his demonic Kandra. Getting into a crouching position and slowly leaning on a wall to get him up, he looked around. "What do you think of this?" Althea spoke and Max turned, and saw her, and blinked. She was also in different clothes. She was in a dress, and she gestured to it, as well as the hall. Max looked to her, and the hall, wondering what she meant. What did he think of the hall? Then it all clicked. The dress, the altar, the clothes. It was a wedding hall. Immediately a spike of shock went through him and his heartbeat started racing. Woah. A wedding? He hadn't been to many weddings. What was he supposed to do? On one hand, it was awesome. On the other... He looked to Althea and saw her face. It looked worried. Did she want to do the wedding? Max didn't want to put pressure on her. Realising he hadn't answered the question, Max wondered what to say. "It's..." he swallowed his doubts and smiled. "It's pretty cool, I think. I mean, unless you don't think that. We can talk abo- it's just really unexpected, and - I mean - I'm fine with whether that's bad or just really good." He winced, realising he hadn't made any sense. "What about you?"
  16. “Thanks,” Alask said, taking the money and jogging back to Laonin. Now he had the money and the materials, all from a simple theft. It wasn’t unethical if nobody knew about it, right? But, you did leave around thirty corpses in Alleyzon, not to mention everyone who died on the plane. But Alask shut that thought out. Arriving to Laonin, he hid the money pouch and leaned over. He could help with this. “So, there’s three prominent places to shop,” he said. “The Craftsmen, Alleyzon, and the Metalurgy and Investiture sale. I don’t know which one it is, but it’s definitely between those three, I think.”
  17. Max remained stationary. “And once we remove the forcefield, what’s to say you won’t kill him anyway? It’s clearly your goal.” Still fixing his eyes on Idos, he whispered to Solace. “Now or never, Solace.”
  18. Max looked at Idos through the forcefield. “Funny how you hate Investiture,” he said. “When you literally deal in Atium, which is the solidified Investiture of Ruin.” Turning back to Solace, he winced and quit the Rioting. “Fine,” he said, kneeling down. Perhaps comforting was not the right technique. Maybe Max could try and get Solace to fight his fears another way. “But you need to understand. You’re not alone. You think you’re the only one with trauma? Look at her,” he pointed to Althea. “You saw her mind, you’ve seen everything that’s been done to her, the only difference being she’s standing up there while you’re lying down here. She didn’t go evil. She didn’t give in. She faced her fears. “And I did too. I’ve been insane, I’ve been mentally unstable, but...” but I did go evil, he thought. But I did kill all those people, back in Oasis. “But I’ve dealt with it,” he lied. “You think you’re the only one with issues? Think again. We’re like you. We understand you. But we’re here defending you. And just like us, you can push through. “There’ll always be time to mourn later. But not now. Not while there’s work to be done.”
  19. Infinity Gauntlets. As my mama always said, always carry a backup infinity gauntlet if your primary throws a tantrum.
  20. Max looked up at the sudden people in here. The leading man appeared to have a disdain for Investiture, though Max could clearly see he had a few powers of his own. Maintaining the Rioting on Solace, Rioting courage and bravery, he responded to Althea. I think we should defend. Solace hopefully won't take long to face his fears. I'm fine with fighting, but I'm not throwing the first punch. If they try anything against Solace, then we can retaliate. Instincively, he made the Forcefield smaller, encompassing only Althea, Solace and himself. That way, the newcomer, Idos, wouldn't be abe to attack Solace unless he used Investiture of his own. He knelt down to Solace, still Rioting. "C'mon, man. Face it. Face your fears. We need you."
