  1. "Happy? No. Entertained? Absolutely. This was the most fun I've had in a long time," Lance chuckled.
  2. "I will remain standing. That way you may focus on deciphering my body language as well. A more...subtle art, but surely you don't think it beyond your ken," Lance said, grinning ferally.
  3. "You've offered me a grand total of nothing to get this thing you ask of me, one way or the other. Information is not free, as I'm sure you well know."
  4. Lance, taking a drink from his "special" flask, threw up a small speedbubble and moved close to Nerin before dropping it with a flare of his mistcoat. "You look like one who has questions but needs to find a way to ask. Good luck," he chuckled. @ZincAboutIt
  5. "Well that's not very fun indeed. Oh well. Not a good use of my dramatics, I suppose. It was worth a shot," Lance sighed.
  6. Lance tapped just a little more electrum, losing just a hair of the mystery and fey attitude. "I'm fine, thanks. Besides, I have more flasks," he said, pulling out another from inside his coat. "Now that I could get behind. What's your organization, friend, and how would I go about learning more?" Lance asked, always looking for a place to ply his drama.
  7. "Ah, there's nothing wrong with a little, or a lot, of drama, my friend! Better than being bored, yeah?" Lance slid sideways in his seat and drained his flask of whiskey. "Nothing wrong with drama at all."
  8. "Well that's certainly the question, isn't it? I'd say I'm on the side of myself above all else. Past that, who knows? Round and round the story goes, round and round the circle comes. The world may never know." Lance had formally decided to embrace randomness now that his planned information was seeded. @ZincAboutIt
  9. "Wrong with me? Wrong with me? Absolutely nothing, my friend. As I stand before you, I am a pinnacle of humanity's strength. The question you should be asking instead is what's wrong with you," Lance said, smirking harder than ever before.
  10. "People do talk in here. That's why I thought, of all places, those of you here would already know about recent events. Oh well. You'll hear soon enough, one way or the other. An honest face, though? You work in a Soothing parlor, so that's false. If you're going to lie, try something believable. Since you haven't heard, though, count this as your warning that very soon, things will change. Be careful which side you're on." Lance settled back into his chair, his part said and the information delivered.
  11. "Oh, you're one that's quick with a quip, aren't you? I suppose that's fair. After all, how else could you manage have a competent conversation with me? I suppose I did deserve that one, honestly, but I'm more talking about the rumblings. The warnings. The coming disaster. The war. The Farriers. Perhaps that will gallop your memory functions." Lance maintained his smirk, sure it was setting her off her balance.
  12. Lance felt the Soothing increase beyond his ability to ignore normally and began tapping a minor flow of determination to focus himself and counteract it, staring this Soother in the eyes and smirking as if nothing was wrong at all. "I brought my own, thanks," he said, pulling out a flask and swigging. "I'm going to be frank. Have you ever heard of the Farriers?"
  13. "My name is Lance," he said to them both as he handily towed a chair to the area underneath the window he obliterated. "But as to paying for that? I'll pay in advice: don't make window panes out of metal next time. That's all the payment you're going to get."
  14. "Maybe next time don't make the panelines of metal, hmm? Seems like a poor idea in a city with Metalborn and yet more metal to Push from just across the street." Lance chuckled. "Not that anything you could have done would have actually kept me out, of course. That is not an easy task. To date, there's a 100 percent failure rate on it, in fact." Lance clapped his hands. "So. Anything fun happening, or did I pop in for nothing?"
  15. I can't wait for it, and I love that they're trying to use the Gateway systems as a jumping-off point for deep space launches as well.
  16. As Aben's trailing sentence was responded to with a question, the northernmost window shattered, the metal pane separators twisting outwards forcefully just before a shadowed figure hurtled through the gap where the window used to be, masked, with a black mistcoat, landing with one knee on the ground and his hand outstretched before him. "I hope that I'm not late to the party," he said, standing slowly. "I do so dislike errors of punctuality." @ZincAboutIt @Dr. Dapper
  17. Talking about the end of OB? Yeah, I didn't cry, I just got angry. That was when I started hating Moash.
  18. I have yet to cry at a moment in the cosmere. 100% promise I'm telling the truth.
  19. Yay Subnautica! (I still prefer the OG layout of bars over the circle format).
  20. A few of them.
  21. Alright, fair. Let's see...the magic could be powered by the excess energy within the universe from atomic and molecular shifting.
  22. Can I get a few more details so I know what you're trying to do with it? I might be able to find something cool to fit with said details.
  23. Works for me. Sorry for getting so off topic.
  24. There's a difference between killing someone in an unexpected way because their death serves to further the plot and shock value death. If I thought Sanderson would shock value kill Dalinar, I'd be as mad about it as you are, but I choose to believe that if Dalinar dies, it'll be a necessity. That's the difference. Waste versus use. If/when Dalinar dies, he'll be useful in death like he was in life. So be it. I never said it'll destroy Odium, many apologies if it came off that way, but it'll delay him and that's the best thing you can hope for when facing 1/16th of the functional God. Also, as a side note, you're asserting this very forcefully based 90% on your own assumptions as to where the story is headed. You okay? Edit: This last bit has been ninja'd by Calderis. Yay.
  25. I didn't say I'd be satisfied with that ending to Dalinar, but I'd understand it. I'd understand Odium removing a lynchpin player and I'd understand it being shocking to the audience. That happens sometimes. Not everyone gets a satisfying ending, even on the heroes side, and fantasy itself is more predisposed to being predictable with the heroes escaping unharmed. I would also argue the point of it being bad writing to have had this built up and it be revealed that it wasn't what we thought it was in terms of importance. A red herring? Yes. Bad writing? Not if it's done right.
