  1. Some mild spoilers here.
  2. Alfie swayed a bit. He was really tired. He had been up and about for too long with the attack of the bandits and the mind screw up of the spike. He could hear Satsu doing his thing but he just didn't have the energy... he went into a room nearby and curled up in the corner, sleeping.
  3. In a suit like that you do not have any stealth, everyone is going to notice your massive aluminum suit. You wouldn't be able to sneak around. He'd be able to hear you, or ask a nearby person to point you out. The inquisitors can access many baseline soldiers, they could probably get some people to attack you if they thought there was some serious threat. Looking like a nobody is helpful to most plans. If they can't see you, you may get one surprise hit.
  4. The problem is that the inquisitor may well be doing some attack against you, such as a pewter aided punch or some emotional allomancy. If you burst him then suddenly he's going to be hitting you with more force than a truck or destroying your emotional stability. Your quote in no way contradicts mine. As it says, true sleep is different. And it seems everyone knew it anyway.
  5. "Feruchemists use Bronze to store wakefulness, during which they become drowsy. Storing enough wakefulness can send a Feruchemist into a trance-like state that can only be disrupted by violent changes in his or her immediate environment. This state isn’t true sleep, and the Feruchemist comes out of it neither more rested nor more tired." You can't store wakefulness while asleep. Storing it does not leave you more rested.
  6. Alfie paced the door after the Butler, staying far back and out of range. He didn't want to be spotted and he was sure the Butler was more than used by now to cats watching him with cold eyes. Following him through the house they eventually reached the kitchen. Alfie hid behind a large wooden drawer and watched. The butler approached two women, focusing on one. She was leaning on a cabinet next to another female whom he presumed was another maid who she had been gossiping with. He listened as they spoke. "Susan, sir is in and he may want a meal at some hour. Would you please make sure that if he desires a delectable snack you are well prepared." She flicked her hand out in a dismissive manner. "Way ahead of you, we always keep a little stuff going just in case one of his strays wander in and he seems to like a lot of the same meals." She shook her head and sighed. "I love the little people but they can be very aggressive and demanding when they get hungry. It's like dealing with children. We'll be ready if he gets hungry. So, about Satsu, who is he screwing lately? Has he gotten a girl?" The butler looked straight at her, in what Alfie interpreted as a disapproving way. "Sir came alone, and you would do best to not speculate on his love life." Alfie spotted something. The woman had some metal in her stomach. He looked at the lines. It didn't feel like the pewter inside Satsu. A mental one, mostly likely. Maybe she was a rioter and liked enflamming passions. He followed the Butler around for a while, listening to his conversations, listening to him talk to people and send letters. There was a lot of speculation about Satsu's sexual habits, griping about work conditions and cats watching them. No evidence of any traitors. He got the same impression from the other people. He searched Satsu's quarters as well, sending electrum ghosts in and around to check it out. There were no bombs or poisons he could see. It seemed they weren't immediately plotting Satsu's death. Yet.
  7. "Tapping a Goldmind: Gold a rare exception to the general tapping rules, in that its effects are felt for a period longer than a single action. For each charge you tap, your Health temporarily increases by 1. This lasts for one hour, after which the extra Health is lost again. Should this drop your Health to 0 you fall unconscious, and if it drops your Health below 0 you collapse and will die unless someone can stabilize you with a Wits 3 roll (see page 183)." When you are tapping gold your health and resilience to damage increases. For comparison, a normal person might have 5 health. And a gold compounder can tap dozens of charges of health. They can survive serious injuries, like an explosion to the face. "Wincing, he moved Wayne. His friend had fallen on them and blocked the brunt of the explosion from above. His duster had been shredded, his back exposed, blackened and burned, blood dribbling down his sides." Wayne fell with them, but he did take the brunt of the explosion.
  8. "I do not discount any when considering stealth, but are street urchins and servants really that important beyond that? I understand you must ensure loyalty of those beneath you, but is it really worth the risk doing it yourself? Another could easily be paid to do it, one whose loyalty you could better vet, one who could watch their every move and see if one was skulking off to be paid off by some criminal." He looked up at Satsu. "I have seen many who got too friendly with their servants. Who sought to ensure loyalty. It only left them vulnerable to another to exploit them, their guards lowered enough to not check when danger came. Loyalty is a two way street. You trust your butler. What if he was paid off by your enemies and poisoned your food with something too subtle for even our noses, avoiding the eyes of the cats who made him ever so uncomfortable with their almost human staring? What if your bath was strapped with an explosive your metal sight could not see? Or even poisoned with some sedative strong enough to overcome your pewter. Maybe not today, but your trust could be your downfall. Getting loyalty with someone who you can't watch is impossible." Alfie sighed and looked down. Trust was not his strong point. Satsu continued and he nodded at his words. "I know I could kill, but as you said it attracts unwanted attention. I prefer to remain out of sight and run, then ambush the childhood bully on the way home with a group of loyal friends to teach him a lesson. I watch from afar, I wait, I plan." He unsheathed his claws. "Then I attack." Alfie stabbed his claws into the air. He then heard a man coming in and walked into the shadows, waiting to see if the man was hostile, then react as necessary if appropriate. Otherwise he would go to check the bath and study for any poisons or traps with tin and electrum, go to listen to the servants and check their loyalty, and then wander around and explore.
  9. http://www.brandonsanderson.com/annotation/198/Mistborn-2-Chapter-Twelve It's not a matter of power. Edit. With the mistborn adventure game, becoming a savant is not automatic.
  10. Chromium is pretty cool. You might be able to ambush them. Go to them and say you have some key news, touch their hand. Then while they are reeling rip spikes out. The problem with steel is you'd be unlikely to get a confirmed kill. If you have superior combat skills as a trained warrior you might be able to overwhelm an inquisitor. Punch them in the head and knife them in the chest, then while they are stunned rip out a spike. A baseline human could do that. You could even cut their head off with one powerful surprise stroke. Atium and electrum aren't usable by you or by inquisitors? Inquisitors seeing internal metals is a matter of skill, Brandon mentions in the annotations somewhere that anyone theoretically could do it. Some may have had duralumin, but it was a rare metal as you'd have to spike a mistborn to get it.
  11. Iron and steel aren't that useful as they simply allow you to do minor damage. The inquisitor can easily heal a small blow. They could be useful for fleeing. Tin would not be that useful. They could see you burn it and your speed and strength is not enhanced. Pewter would be very useful, by removing spikes you could kill them instantly. Smash them once in the head, rip out spikes until they run out. It would fail if they had atium. Zinc and brass aren't effective on them without a nicroburst, copper lets you hide from them, bronze lets you find them and as such avoid them. Cadmium could be used to isolate an inquisitor while backup was brought. Bendalloy could be used to avoid an inquisitor. Gold wouldn't be useful to you. Electrum would let you counter atium. Chromium would let you destroy their powers, rendering them reasonably harmless. Nicrosil, duralumin, and aluminium wouldn't be that useful on your own. So I would have three obvious choices. Chromium, electrum, or pewter. I'd probably go for Chromium. Hopefully the shock they would have at losing their powers would give me enough time to rip some spikes out. Behind that, I would chose electrum to resist atium, or pewter. As a ferring, I would likely chose to be a steel one. The enhanced speed would let me dodge most blows and rip out spikes. Likewise as a twinborn. Pewter is tempting but you're not any tougher as a pewter ferring.
  12. Alfie remembered the picture he had been shown a while ago. Most things he had seen with tin stuck in his memory pretty hard because they were so vivid and intense and so he could easily bring up the mental image of the map. "I could likely find it, yes, I can picture the route now, but if I was being chased I'd want to know the way in and where to hide without any delays. All the power in the world is useless if you are a second late with your movement." Alfie paced on, his tail swishing back and forth with each step, pride in his movements. He was back in his element. The street, full of people who he could sway and an alley to run away in each corner. "You are a man of great power, and I hope my finding of the book of terris magics will help you grow even greater." As they approached he switched to speaking in mews and mrows and purrs, mindful of hiding who they were. "He calls you sir. He's your bitch. He says I am of the street, I am powerful. Silly humans." Mewing and mrowing to him, he continued pacing behind him. He was aware his speech was awkward, but you could only communicate so much in your natural language. "That man was not hidden. He deserved being eaten and beaten by the big men. The weak die." He followed him in, watching carefully to see what was occuring but not too agitated. This was a safe place.
  13. Alfie rubbed his neck against Satsu's hand, purring as they approached the station. Then he nodded at his question and walked out with him, pacing at his heel. A guard walked up to him. He was old, with long greying hair and numerous wrinkles. He looked like he'd smiled a lot in his lifetime and now a huge grin spread across his face. "Alfie? It's you! What are you doing here? Aren't you a good kitty? I haven't seen your family a long time. Did you get stolen?" He rubbed Alfie behind his ears. Alfie purred again. "I should take you back to your family. My shift ends in a few hours. Meanwhile..." The man reached into a pocket, going for what looked like a rather unappealing snack of some sort. Alfie, not wanting to be bothered, quickly tapped a nearby piece of metal with his steel and rioted the man's curiosity. He turned round and Alfie escaped into the crowd, vanishing again. He then followed Satsu to the canal. "I want to know where to run if everything goes bad before I start exploring."
  14. Most couldn't, but in theory a very strong steel or iron pusher who could do some cognitive mind trickery to convince himself that his arm wasn't part of him could. This is a cognitive magic of the sort that the guy who looked for alespren in way of kings did, or the forger did in TES. We don't know exactly how it would work.
  15. Alfie shook his neck, trying to relieve the strain. That had been one heavy book. He replied to Satsu. "Thank you, but you humans make books way too big. And I looked inside with my steel sight, there's not even that many pictures to add to the beauty of it." He sighed. "I shall eat. Thank you for your delicious foods." He went over to the supplies and nibbled on a fish. The taste and texture was always so intense and delicious when he was burning tin. He kept it on a simmer to avoid the pain and harshness of it, but even just a simmer made everything brighter. He licked a scale off his paw and dived into the meaty fishy deliciousness. A while later, Alfie slightly fatter and the food significantly decreased he heard the cat man... Satsu. Names were important to humans. He repeated the word a few times in his head to fix it there. Satsu was talking to the air. "I did well?" He purred and nuzzled his head against Satsu's leg. "Thank you, I did good." Alfie smiled. "I am ready to go. My metals are restocked and ready. You lead the way." He started off, looking back and addressing Satsu. "I remember when I first came here. My master was a ferring, a connector. A lot of the old miners were. The mines were one of the most few places they could go and be free from the rules of their close knit community and not be rejected. My master never paid for a ticket, not once. He didn't believe in it, and neither did the guards once they felt his feruchemy. I never got petted or looked at when he was doing his business. It'll be good to be the cute and cuddly this time when I leave."
  16. Since the armor takes several days to heal it is implied there is a limit to how much stormlight it can use at any one time, like an organic thing growing. Perhaps as Dalinar has more of the suit he can feed it more stormlight. It's possible there is a bond, but we have no evidence that there is a bond, and it doesn't seem to be a very strong one. I am aware of the definition of a Nahal bond but whatever the shardplates are isn't much like an Honor bond. This may be because the shardplate has been corrupted by Odium, as shardblades may be given Syl's reaction to it at the end of the book.
  17. What if I attacked him... burning electrum he peered into his future He strode forward, metals at the ready. One paw forward he... sent a pulse of steel forward, probably. His hand darted quickly from side to side, tracking something, sending pulses of steel ahead. He flew backwards, body strained, pushing some heavy object. He looked up and to his side, at the cat man. He could recognize his expression. He shook, something massive and physical happening, now unconscious. He questioned his further future self, whispering to the air and discussing it with him. His future self didn't give him that clear an answer. He was clearly still shocked by the blow. Drawing back, he tried to explain. "He has some... physical ability. Great speed, or dodging ability, a good throwing arm. Perhaps steel, or pewter, or even zinc or tin if he's just that fit. I remember when I saw him he had silvery bands around his arm. It could be chromium even, extreme luck. It wasn't bronze or brass and probably wasn't any of the hybrid metals. Your plan seems... I hope he is asleep at least. He knocked out my future self." He looked up at Satsu, his eyes large and intense. "If I call, come." He started softly rioting the Terris man's boredom and tiredness while soothing his excitement and attention. He would find it harder and harder to read his book or do anything and find sleep more and more attractive as time went on. The effect wasn't large but over time the man's real tiredness and boredom would increase and his allomancy powers would start to become much more effective. He waited, watching for signs of tiredness. Eyes rubbed, yawns. Then he would slightly intensify the push and pull on his emotions. Edit. Part 2. Soon the man swayed over. Rubbing sleep from his eyes he put his book in his bag. Alfie then sneakily went through the windows and roof into his cabin. Sneaking around, ever so silent, Alfie padded up to the man. He was lying on the table, resting on one arm, the other hanging out down to the floor. His silvery bracelet was hanging on his arm. Alfie went forward and to lick it. He lightly dabbed his tongue on the bracelet, putting no pressure whatsoever on it. Numnum. It tasted... pushy. A physical metal. Pewter or steel probably. He flared tin for a moment. The train started shaking, the sound screeching, every light was like a flare burning him. He quickly turned it off. Steel. He nodded and pranced up onto the table in front of the man. His pack lay by his side, in the window seat. He grasped it with his teeth and carefully opened it. Lots of things within. There were earrings within a separate pocket. He couldn't easily open that one. And the book. He grasped it with his teeth and levered it out. He swung round with the book and his leg gave out. The book crashed to the table and made a massive gonging noise that echoed through the cabin. The Terris man stirred. Alfie froze, stiff, fearing capture and death. The Terrisman reached out to him, arm strong, and pulled him close, bearhuging Alfie. Alfie stayed frozen, picturing his imminent death and murder. The man murmured softly. "Oh Yella, you are so fine. And soft." Alfie waited. The man seemed to be asleep. He gently extracted himself from the man, closed his pack (he had forgotten before) and walked off to the door way. Nudging it open, using a little steel push, he walked back to Satsu. He then gently lay the drool covered book in front of him, his offering, and bowed his head. "I 'ave eet. Eeese mahn ees 'eel." He spat out some book. Ew."Steel."

    Feruchemy

http://twg.17thshard.com/index.php?topic=4819.msg68240#msg68240 You can see his thought process here.
  19. There is the Worldbringers, the Terris group that was maybe founded by Hoid like the Worldsingers in Roshar. He may have caught some feruchemy from shardic radiation back then. He could just be using the lerasium for its feruchemical properties which presumably would be immense and powerful given that it is a god metal. Yeah, maybe Chromium.
  20. Thank you for finding this out. We suspected he may have this power, but never knew for sure. I wonder how he knows the future. Perhaps there is an atium alloy that lets you store destiny? It has been stated that the atium alloys have temporal properties and Hoid could easily acquire some atium. Edit. Gold stores health. Malatium stores your time health. Maybe... an aluminium alloy, your time identity?
  21. So they can marshal together millions of troops if they need to. That means at least two million, probably not 10 million. So 2-9 million. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_troops Militaristic countries range from having 1-40% of their country in the military. So 5-900 million. If we eliminate the countries with heavy militaries and heavy conscription, 8-10% seems more realistic. Lebanon is the first one without conscription. So 20-900 million are possible numbers. When people say millions they normally mean something not too close to ten million. So perhaps we could say four million soldiers. So 20-400 million. I don't think we can go much further in terms of assumptions than that. Less than a half a billion, more than 19 million. It would be entirely reasonable for any of those numbers to be used.
  22. http://brandonsanderson.com/annotation/361/Mistborn-3-Chapter-Eighty-One-Part-4 Leras could have killed Ati once he took his power. Brandon makes it quite clear that the issue is that over time the shard corrupts you. Vin had an advantage due to her having Ruin in her, but the main thing is that over time you merge with your power. As he said, Leras was too corrupted implying it was a gradual process, perhaps taking millennia. Likewise with humans from other planets, though what shard was in them would likely determine how fast they were corrupted.

    Copper Stunts

In the RPG it's noted that copper can boost your willpower, allowing you to better resist blackmail or torture. Iron Will: While burning Copper, you ignore 1 point of Willpower damage from each successful attack. You may take this Stunt one additional time, increasing the Willpower damage you ignore to 2.
  24. Alfie nibbled the fish and restocked his metals, thanking Satsu. He wasn't that low on anything but electrum but it was always good to be stocked up. The metal tasted amazing. He loved the texture of the little balls on his tongue. Almost dirty. Delicious. He listened in to the conversation, repeating the words as he saw and heard them. "Earlier I heard a tekiel man talking to a Yomen man. Tekiel complained about their metal related bankrupcy. The Yoman man gave him a hint and said that house Yomen was researching a new refinery based off harnassing lighting. An arc furnace he said. He said chromium wasn't going to be profitable for much longer especially with the Terris on their side. And he thanked him for introducing his Tekiel hot sister to his Yomen socially awkward brother." He listened some more, and watched the Kandra walk away. He burned electrum a little and shivered at the future. "I'm glad we're not facing the kandra guy. That path would only lead to doom. That book he has though, that could be profitable. I saw it on my way out. It's filled with knowledge of feruchemy and Terrismen." Alfie stretched out his legs and readied his metals. "I wouldn't want to face Harmony as Harmony is powerful but with your strength we can defeat a Terrisman."
  25. Alfie patiently waited, head rested on paws, watching the transformation occur. With his metal sight he could see the man's organs and body parts shift and adjust as he changed shape. It must be a real relief for him to shift into his cat form. He didn't know how humans managed without being flexible enough to lick their balls. What did you do if they were itchy? Kandra. He had heard of them. The man was speaking with a curious accent when he talked of them, but that was probably just a side affect of the transformation. "In my briefings... Kandra were the shapeshifting asassins of lord ruler." He blinked, trying to remember. "They were paid in atium. Empress Vin had a dog one as her loyal subject." He hissed in memory of cruel chasing dogs. "I'll listen in, with electrum, steel, and tin. I can read their lips with steel. I won't be missing any words, through noise fog or metal. For the future when I want to talk I'll use this steel code." He tossed up the piece of metal held in his paw and levitated it. "One push red, am in danger come soon." The metal bobbed up. "Two pushes orange, come cautiously." The metal bobbed up above his paw twice. "Three pushes green, be wary but alert, don't come." The metal bobbed up and down in the air thrice. "One long push, deep red, you are in danger, run." Even as he said this he kept his eyes and ears focused on the cabin, watching and listening to their words. He repeated the words and actions to the man quietly, burning electrum and asking his future self about any big insights- rare metals, about Sazed, about feruchemists, or them being attacked. He heard the man's last question and responded. "Fish is always good."
