  1. Hmm. Yeah, I just wrote him off as an insane person. But then, those who are insane tend to be more "open" to Shardic influence. Maybe it was the work of Harmony, training Wax? I'll have to reread the prologue again...
  2. It seems every Mistborn Era will culminate in every main character becoming Crystal Dragon Jesus in their own way. Seriously, EVERYONE has at least one moment where they become an unstoppable badass, and it's amazing. No idea how this will be topped in the next book, but hey, I had the same opinion of WoA, and then HoA came along and melted my face off. I was a little irked with the reveal of where the Bands were actually "hidden" as well as the number of deaths bought-back, but it was all pretty well justified within the narrative, so ultimately Bands was a very satisfying read.
  3. Yeah, I had the impression that post-Catacendre it was more like one in ten in the high end and one in a hundred on the low end. Not that I have any canon source for that..
  4. Guy who's been drinking scorching hot coffee for so long he doesn't even notice anymore? I've met that guy. I thought it was odd when I first read it, but the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Brandon is just getting better at leaving red herrings.
  5. Why not a source? http://brandonsanderson.com/mistborn-2-alternate-ending/ Also, we've seen several WoBs referring to Hoid taking the Lerasium from the Well. It's canon.
  6. Ah, I'd wondered about the prologue. For reasons.
  7. Got two for Duralumin: As a commander, tapping Connection during your Big Inspirational Speech with your soldiers can rally them to your cause. In the trenches, storing Connection can deaden your emotional response to killing, making you the unfeeling sociopath you've always wanted to be! Less hesitant to offing another human being in the moment and possibly able to avoid some long-term PTSD in the future.
  8. In short, the bloodlines are too diluted. By the end of Hero of Ages, there were no Mistborn left, with the exception of Spook, once Harmony fixed him. Even then, he was made to be as weak of a mistborn as could exist. By era 2, nobody has Allomancy expressed strongly enough in their Spiritual DNA to be mistborn. Similarly, Feruchemy has been so thinned and the expression of the two powers interfere with each other such that only ferrings exist.
  9. Sorry for necroing a old thread but, I saw this on reddit today and it reminded me of this discussion. It's a guy on the ISS trying to move in zero-G without touching any walls.
  10. Kinda breaking the pattern here, but... When I ran my MAG campaign in the Southern Islands, one of my players made a drinking song:
  11. According to WoB, in-world Kelsier's name is pronounced in the French style, like "kel-see-eh" I don't know if that helps or makes things worse.
  12. As a poor street urchin, burning impure metals would probably be just a drop in the bucket contributing to her poor health. Assuming they contributed at all... We don't know how inexact the alloy needs to be before it makes you sick. If it's a little off it's just less effective. Also I think the brass came from cups or utensils, just like the pewter. Copper and zinc dissolved in a solution forming viable brass just seems too farfetched.
  13. Also the dot is always inside the crescents for the Pushing metals and on the edge for the Pulling metals. Except for tin, where it is fully outside of the crescents. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more, less obvious patterns as well.
  14. The Hulk is a Koloss blooded Pewter compounder who is a Savant at burning Invested pewter. Because Hulk strongest one there is.
  15. I think Gold compounder at birth, then Allomantic pewter added by Hemalurgy and pushed to savant levels. Weapon X project.Ra's al Ghul - Atium twinborn (if there ever was such a thing) -Nigh unbeatable in hand-to-hand combat and immortal.
  16. This reminds me of the time my friends and I binge-watched the entire DCAU and tried to reimagine various heroes and villains in the Alloy of Law Era: Batman: Allomantic Iron, Feruchemic Duralumin -When not in the Batmobile, Batman gets around by climbing buildings and jumping across rooftops, hence the Allomantic iron. He's also good at blending into the shadows as Batman, and always has the limelight as Bruce Wayne, hence the Feruchemical duralumin. However, he wears a gold bracer that looks like a metalmind, just to confuse and inspire fear in his enemies. Robin (Dick Grayson) - Allomantic Steel, Feruchemic Iron -Yeah, same powers as Wax, but used a bit differently. Robin was a circus acrobat, so he's very nimble and light, also able to jump across rooftops like Batman, but with a much different style. The Joker - Allomantic Zinc, Feruchemic Duralumin via Hemalurgy -Allomantic zinc is a pretty obvious choice with the Joker's laughing gas and tendency to use fatal hilarity to attack people. The Joker also came from NOWHERE and yet always has a huge group of henchmen, which is where the Feruchemical duralumin comes in. Hemalurgic source because, well, the Joker is insane. Also I think Aquaman would have Allomantic Zinc in addition to the Feruchemic Cadmium, but for some reason it only works on fish
  17. Brandon once said that Shardplate would protect from the vacuum of space but it will be a long time before we see it. It was on Reddit somewhere, can't find the exact quote at the moment.
  18. Wow, that is an important WoB and I am surprised I missed it. Kills several of my theories, in fact. Thank you!
  19. Wild speculation incoming: Hoid was with the Terrismen refugees, which means he was probably up north while the Inquisitors were harvesting the Synod and the rest of the Keepers... This is probably where Hoid first learned of Hemalurgy. Or at least, he learned something of it around this time.
  20. But even then, he'll fix it ten years later!Wayne spends the first half of the book storing health while out and about, which he said in the previous book he HATES doing, but we never see him recover from a major injury. I too got the impression that he never recovered his metalminds after Bleeder tied him up.
  21. From the Wikipedia page: "Port wine is typically richer, sweeter, heavier, and possesses a higher alcohol content than unfortified wines." Super sweet and gets you drunk fast? Sounds like something someone new to drinking would like. Don't think there's anything deeper here.
  22. Considering Koloss are just humans with extra human strength grafted into their spiritweb, I would think interbreeding would be possible. Probably not common and I would think there may be some, ah, physical challenges to overcome, but possible. Also, if you'd like a place for discussion more centered on the Mistborn Adventure Game, we'd love to see more activity on the Crafty forums! http://www.crafty-games.com/forum/index.php?board=21.0
  23. Hemalurgy and Cosmere stuff aside, how about the industrial revolution themes in this chapter? Harmony tried to create a place where everyone could be safe, where soil would always be fertile and food plentiful, and this prompted rapid technological advancement. Now, workers are becoming obsolete and food prices are skyrocketing. And now that Harmony is feeling the Intent of the Shard more fully, he can barely intervene in a society which has advanced faster than the people can keep up. Attempting to make a better world for humanity has created a new set of problems. Interesting, and relevant with all the increasing automation and self-driving cars and stuff we have on our horizon.
  24. Oh I agree. Given my track record for predicting Brandon, I'm probably either totally wrong or this is only a footnote to the bigger issues.
  25. Came here to post this exact theory. Brought to mind this WoB: (source) It could be that Harmony let someone he trusted take up the excess power of Ruin, and after 300 years of feeling the Intent of the Shard (Splinter?) and seeing a corrupt upper class, that someone is getting a little uppity.
