Wow.. I remember when I had so many books yet to read in Cosmere! but Emperor’s soul is really very different, read it soon and do tell what you thought of it. -
It sure looks like it. Besides I think OB epilogue clearly establishes that Hoid has awakening.

*Closes her hand into a fist and punches the wall wishing it were a face. Picks up the spanreed and contacts tashikk, it is time to make herself scarce*

May be I missed something! But you know I am not re-reading it till the third book actually comes

Agreed and that is where the inner struggle and growth for his character could have come. He could have shown some more regret and worry for his plans for his kingdom but he just forgot all about it and threw himself in solving elantris problems as he saw fit. And the way he won over that 2nd group and made their leader into a sculptor was a bit too easy I agree. And the fact that he is so perfect is a problem! He is most good looking, was going to be the best king. He is liked by both nobility and peasantry and gang leaders! He is the best swordsman in a country where no one learns fighting. He is good at dancing too I am sure. He is even the tallest guy in the room! He is the beat at making Aons also! He is good at acting also!

I would choose Nalthis because I think it is most stable. Although I would definitely want to visit Roshar.

I like the way he handled sympathy, it is the normal magic that kvothe learned right? With alar and all? I did not like the way he handled naming though. He did not even give us the real name of the wind! I kinda was looking forward to finding it out! But may be he had plans to flesh it out more later... but now we will never know

I meant more Later, when she landed up in Elantris... when she realised that she was being unnecessarily mean to poor elatrians! Yea but the real winner : Heather is no surprise. I just wish that his interest in Serene was made a little more explicit. Well I have always said I rather liked Raoden when I read elantris, his arc is my favourite It is only later when I grew more into this genre that I realised that Brandon made him too perfect. He has no internal conflicts which are what make a protagonist more interesting and empathetic. That is why I think Brandon has done a better job with Kaladin.

Naming ? Not really the best magic system at all! Especially since we were not even told the name spoken! Is sympathy related to same work? I can not remember...

I actually found her part of the story to be a bit bland! I liked her best when she met spirit. Beginning portion is boring when she is giving fencing lessons and attending balls

What is the first question on the Test?

Is it from Wheel of time? Old tongue? -
See thank you.. I have been saying that Elantris is best read as first Sanderson book because I have realised I like it much more than others who read it after Mistborn!!

my favourite scene is I am unity before that it was Mistborn HoA ending. Is this about HoA? -
Yup taking some time off Cosmere is a good advice but Oathbringer deserves to be given a second chance by you. Just keep reading it and I have a feeling that it will surprise you in the end. It is my absolute favourite book of Brandon’s and I love the way he handled Dalinars arc in this book. It was brilliantly done.

Hey Erude. Welcome to the shard! I started my Cosmere journey with Elantris too. My favourite character is kaladin followed very closely by Dalinar. OB is my favourite book till date. If you had a chance to visit/live on one shardworld, which one will you choose?

You are at book 5 and you think the books are over rated. Oh my, what are you going to say if you ever reach book 7-10!! I agree with the observation that Robert Jordan did not write female characters well. He happened to think that all women behave the same way! And it got annoying after some time!!! Very annoying! Care to elaborate a little on this? Which other characters you think bear a resemblance to the madness that is Shallan. In defence, I would point towards Jasnah and Lift. I think one reason why I find Shallan annoying is that as books progress you expect a protagonist to learn from their mistakes and improve over time. Solve their issues, get over past issues and problems. Shallan on the other hand, is getting worse with each successive book. In fact, Her problems are only just beginning to catch up with her. Years of pushing problems away has begun to cause deep psychological issues now! I, while finding her very annoying, really like reading about a situation where accessing magic is not a solution to all the problems of a person but is actually causing the problem to become more serious!

I agree. I actually felt after reading this chapter that this is the most Dark and tragic that Brandon has ever got! Yet at the same time it felt realistic to me and it did not feel unnecessary. I think the whole Kholinar arc was a way to show that SA is not your normal Brandon series where everything is going to be hunky dory all the time! The situation is really dire and our beloved characters are going to face some really tough times ! But overall Brandon mixes some dark and sad moments with a lot of hopeful and optimistic moments! The overall tone of his work is positive. I have read asiof too and i think I object when it appears that sudden character deaths is the only way to deliver plot twists, which is clearly not the case with Brandon’s writing. If you have not completed oathbringer, than I suggest that you please complete the book and have faith in Brandon.

I think that reading aether will not spoil the future aether books. Already there are things and plots that have been taken from the old version and used in other novels. Aether novels are long way away in the future and I believe that by the time they come out they will be vastly different! In fact, it will be fun to compare the two and see just how they have changed!!
