  1. Only Dalinar could bench Kaladin Stormblessed. His past star performer on the field. I think we as readers and Kaladin, we all should trust Dalinar’s instincts that this is a time to give Kal a break. And we readers, should also have faith in kaladin’s resilience that he will find his way back. May be, if he realises that in his absence, bridge 4 are not doing any worse will help him calm down. He has trained them well and I think it is now time for Kal to let go, a little, let them grow. That can not happen fully as long as they expect Kal to swoop in and save them!
  2. I also wonder why it was said that the heavenly ones have been able to resist going insane more than other orders?! why? Why would a repeated cycle of desolations and life and death, affect them any less as compared to others? Is it not the process itself that makes them go insane? Is it that the passions of different brands of fused vary and the passions decide which fused is which order? Like oaths decide for KRs. Is it that some orders are more close to Odium than others? So is it that the ones closer to odium, have a higher mental deterioration rate? So, do the Shanay-ims really have a shred of honor in them and it is this, the “not complete cut-off from honor” that Has allowed them to Retain their mental faculties more than others. As in, that they are not as consumed by hatred as the others have been?
  3. I agree. I think he wanted to use Venli to propagate to the larger singer population how listener sacrificed themselves to bring back their gods. He planned to use her as a boy form only and there need not be any hidden agenda and does not indicate that he knew anything about Venli bonding timbre or even the possibility of it. He spared Venli when she had barely met timbre. And I also do not see how a singer becoming a regal and also getting radiant powers and also retaining free will, could be in odium’s favour. He did not really do anything to take over Skybreakers though, did he? They just kind of fell in his lap of their own ! Would love to know what they have been upto though since last year. And what is their equation with the Shanay-ims?
  4. Is it from White sand? There is this coup I think that took place.... I think ais wants to do something about it....
  5. Welcome to the shard! Interesting choice for favourite character, very unique. Rock rocks!!
  6. Only two clues in @Honorless !! give clue number three?!!! We can crack it I am sure Oh god!! It so happened that I only saw first two clues and made a guess !! Haha wait a moment. Let me see all the 5 clues!! ok so is it Arelon?
  7. May be odium can not see spren? Honor and cultivation’s spren. He did not know that shallan is not an elsecaller. He does not know about Renarin at all for some reason. He can not tell that Venli has bonded timbre. He had thought that dalinar and stormfather’s bond has been severed completely at the end of OB but it was not. May be it is once spren form the nahel bonds that he can not sense them?! Or also the spren trapped in fabrials. May be that is why he had to create those secret spren. But even the secretspren are only partially successful. They can sense fabrials and they can sense some radiant powers but not all! May be Odium has some inherent restrictions to sense these or it may be that he is trapped still on Roshar so may be he still does not have full use of his powers. It is also possible that since he is most likely based on Braize there is only so much that he can see on Roshar. I think, traditionally he could not directly influence Stuff on Roshar but only via his unmades. But now, with everstorm she has brief windows when he can be personally involved. But even a god can sense only that much during such brief windows.
  8. Chapter reactions: Wow, this chapter was fun. We learnt so much of what is going on in Kholinar. Those tower rooms are crazy! Do you think Leshwi and kaladin are a possibility?!! It appears that she is fascinated by Kaladin and has even told Venli loads about him. I am not even sure that she wants to kill Kaladin! And Venli is trying to recreate (Listeners) what she happily destroyed! Kind of bittersweet moment for me reading this. But I do agree with her. Singers have it bad! For them, there are no free lunches! It is either oppression and slavery to humans or fused tyranny. Total Subservience to a god who does not really care about them. To him, singers are just bodies that his fused can use. In fact I think for the first in Rosharan history, listener culture may be more attractive to most singers. They have seen human atrocities and they are already questioning fused tyranny. Unlike in the past desolations, fused have their tasks cut out for them. As they have not come back to singers who worship them. Remember that Moash’s singer group in OB was also not very thrilled with the authority! There are likely to be many more such singers out there. Trying to stay out of this whole drama is actually a smart choice. But I also think that she will realise that it is also a short term solution. Ultimately listeners also got caught in the problem. And I hope she decides to join dalinars forces! I hope fused, some of them, atleast realise that odium would even see this world destroyed just to get a chance to kill honor (fully) and cultivation. They may not get their world back. Glad to know that Yokska survived! Obviously Adolin’s tailor was the best tailor in Kholinar!
  9. I agree that Ashspren do not like humans as of now but does it really mean that all of them are on-board the anti- human bandwagon just like Malata’s spren or is Spark (I think her spren is called) an exception here as well? I mean spark wants to destroy radiants by helping T and does not mind working for odium! Is there any indication that suggests that other Ashspren will also join them? Same for willshaper spren, I think Venli and timbre are hoping that more of her spren will join in, once Venli finds suitable candidates.
  10. Warcamps ? Sadeas’s warcamp
  11. Yeyy @Honorless welcome to the shard! Looking forward to your participation in the forums.
  12. Welcome to the shard! Really nice ink!
  13. Oh yes please do !!
  14. Mraize had all those trinkets, stuff from other planets, suggests that he too has traveled to other planets. And there may be many more.... It is possible that they are a world hoppers based organisation. Their goals certainly seem cosmere wide.
  15. Welcome to the shard! You made a mistcloak! Nice. What will you be making from SA as it is your favourite??
  16. Welcome to the shard! I never knew that what we were all missing was a bondsmith to unite us all and make us stronger!
  17. I like reading Shallan in Wok only where she is interacting with Jasnah. I liked Jasnah much more than Shallan although she was not a pov character. I confess that on rereads, there are many chapters of Shallan that I skip. Shallan did not contribute anything to her story!? I disagree! She is the main character here! It is her book! She survived the shipwreck, finds herself a bunch of goon followers and changed their lives for the better. She made her way to the shattered plains, secured her betrothal. She saved kaladin down in the chasms, let’s face it if she was not there, kaladin would not have made it out alive, his bond with syl having been broken. She mapped the entire shattered plains without which Dalinar’s forces would not have found Narak. She found the oathgate and learned how to activate it and singlehandedly saved Dalinar, Adolin, Renarin, Navani, bridge four and the entire army from total and complete annihilation. Not to mention she discovered what sons of honor, ghostbloods and Jasnah were trying to discover for years. Probably decades in the case of ghostbloods and sons of honor. She discovered Urithiru. Ancient fortress of radiants proving to the world that radiants were not myths, this tower is most certainly real. She has provided Dalinars side a very strong fortress. She has contributed plenty. Discovering ghostbloods and solving their mystery is also going to fall to her lap. Her personality is conflict with her deeper true self that she has buried deep deep down, a true self that could have been. she says she did not like conflict because that is how she had shaped MaskShallan. That was how she had created the persona that we learn about in Wok. later when she needed to survive, she let a bit of Jasnah seep into her maskShallan persona. But when felt that the conflicts are getting bigger than maskShallan can handle, ghostbloods stuff, then she created Veil. I would not say she is not interesting, she is certainly amusing, she is not my favourite character but I think plenty of people like her in fandom to merit that she is written just fine. Besides in Row, so far I feel that I have re-found my interest in reading about her. After a long time I find that I want to read about her.
  18. Single worst person? As in that she is not a good person? Or that she is a badly written character? On the later, I totally disagree because I think her character has been chosen and written just fine. The OB scene you are referring to, while I may agree that my emotional investment in those characters was minimal, still, you can not help but feel, for the unnecessary and untimely deaths of those characters especially the kid, and the self doubt that it created in Veil and the pain it caused her was something if I could not feel, I could atleast understand. As to the former, well I must say that Shallan, for me, is someone I am very glad is on the good side and working for them because she is very efficient at achieving what she is required to achieve and she should be kept away from the bad side! a
  19. Hey welcome to the shard!! Glad to have you here. Have you been reading the RoW released chapters?
  20. Wow, a real short chapter but it was so much more painful to read! Kaladin being taken off-duty!! While I can see how this must hurt kaladin right now but I think this should be a good thing. Trust Dalinar to bench the best of his army! Could it be that there are windrunners who are ready to say the forth oath but are holding back!? Out of respect to Kaladin? interesting... yunfah and Rlain? Does it mean that Rlain is already a squire? Has he been able to breathe in stormlight?
  21. I like the change that he has brought to her character arc though. After a long time , I am finding reading about Shallan interesting! I want to read more about her and I am very very curious about what more is there to unearth about her past. All that she has done? If people knew then they would leave her? Adolin, who did not leave her despite knowing that she killed her own father and mother, will leave her after knowing all that she has done!? I am intrigued. After OB, I had not expected it but I want more of Shallan. So Shallan has taken a shift in an interesting direction, atleast it is so for me.
  22. Come on @Skycan it is not really your fault. It is Brandon’s fault really for putting them up. You really could not do anything but read them. it is inevitable ! Oooh! @Skycan you should certainly visit the nightblood game we play on the shard at the games forum! Something tells me you would be good at it @Honorless please send him the link I suddenly feel such power thrumming through me! Follow the gloryspren!
  23. Yes I agree. It is only logical Jasnah threw them off herself but still it makes me think what of Shallan? She left him to be killed or was it really meant to be a test or was it meant to be a way to nudge her towards realising full extent of her powers!? Yes and that should make it that much more interesting! Wonder what Venli will master first! Transportation or cohesion!!? The emphasis on these flying platforms makes me think that transportation is going to be a major issue in this book!
  24. I never believed that Jasnah was dead. In my opinion, in fiction, if there is no body then there is no dead person. Besides Shallan hears the knife hitting the wood! One of her surges is transportation and when Shallan went into the room again, there was no dead body. And the ghostbloods were too furious at the crew! Shallan told Navani that Jasnah is legit dead because she saw her get stabbed in the heart but then later while arguing with Dalinar that how she is probably the one person here most difficult to kill, she argues that she can survive a stab wound to the heart even! at that moment, I was like if you can then so can she! Why do you think Jasnah died then! As to the question of why Jasnah vanished instead of fighting, well we shall see. I hope it was not some sort of test for Shallan! Some kind of tough love routine! but what I think most likely is that they caught her unaware. She was exhausted and may be they attacked when she was sleeping and she spooked, ended up in Shadesmaar by accident. I don’t think she has really worked much on transportation at all. And it did take her a long while to come back to PR too.
