And it was good of Navani to inform us about the current situation of war on Roshar. What is occupied territory and what is contested. Well, it is hard to disagree with Dalinar, here. Now that you think about it, it is hardly a surprise that Alethkar fell to enemy forces. They had long neglected it and it is very heavily foreshadowed in Way of kings in Dalinar’s pov. And we finally know what the skybreakers Have been upto. Hmm sighs. And dustbringers as an entire order of radiants is opposed to the radiants and their spren wants revenge against humans and not just spark and malata. That is sad to know. Hmm. I want a more proper addressing of that book by someone like adolin or Renarin’s and not just a passing remark on the book by the mink. Well, I dare say I like the mink. And something tells me that so will Dalinar. There are rumours about Jasnah and Wit! Raised eyebrows. I want Jasnadin not jasnit. Seems to be how we might end the 1st arc of SA then. All in all I think a good chapter. Info-dump but such chapters are needed. And Emul might be where Dalinar and Jasnah will be, away from the tower when Robarien will go for her plan. Exciting times ahead.

Unlikely. With Shallan, Dalinar is boosting her surge of illumination to create the 3D map of whole Roshar. So he is boosting an actual surge and not her resonance. So with kaladin, and other orders, it will have something to do with his two surges, gravity and adhesion. What I would like to see is him and kaladin together, Dalinar boosting Kal’s windshield into ability that he shown in OB, and together they two deflect an entire storm! Although I don’t think Stormfather will be very happy if that happens! Renarin’s: Whole future is laid bare! Lift : she can heal even shades and bring them back to life

I think his pov does become a little tedious but going round and round in circles with the same thoughts in your head again and again is according to me, a very accurate way to describe someone who has depression. I don’t mind that in the least. He knows that he is repeating the same in his head and is also frustrated with himself for not being able to let go of the same dark thoughts. Yes it is a wonder that what worse things could she have done than killing both her parents. But have you never wondered what she did in the first place to attract a cryptic! She was surrounded with lies and deceit even before she killed her mother, that is why she attracted pattern! Of course there was more to unearth. I would have been very infuriated if there was nothing more to learn of her past. That would leave a lot unaddressed. I did not expect that she will have no other issues when we never learnt why she became a lightweaver in the first place. I totally agree. I think that it is just the beginning of the book. It is very common device to have major characters feel out of sync and struggle to only have them come out that much more stronger in the end. I think by the time we will have finished the book, we will have loved it. Remember how down Kaladin was in part 1 of twok and by the time book ended.

It is a very interesting question. I have also pondered over this ever since last weeks chapter with kaladin. It really is a wonder that Zahel having achieved so much already Please do not read this if you have only read Stormlight Archive: anyone of those things could have been why he was created! But if he had achieved it, then he would have given up his divine breath and he would have died. What else is he supposed to do? What was the intent behind him? what is his endgame? Will he ever give up his divine breath to save someone? Would it even work the same way outside Nalthis? Not many of the major players at Roshar would need his help healing! And what is up with that rock? It is clearly pre-shattering. Is it from yolen?

I think so too. Teft has the knowledge experience to fulfill the role of leader of the windrunners. Until Kal comes back that is. And teft may hate getting that role because he may think he does not deserve it. So it can be a nice character growth moment for him. I really want windrunners to do Kal proud out there so he realises that he has made them capable of taking care of themselves and others! Skar and drehy have already shown it in OB! Where is Lopen? I have not seen any mention of lopen !?

I agree. I had already speculated on the other thread that quite like hoid, it appears that ghostbloods are trying to collect different magics across cosmere. But instead of taking highly investiture granting objects as hoid is doing, I think ghostbloods focus is on becoming a collective that comprises of differently invested individuals. They clearly wanted radiants, Mraize is delighted to have Shallan! And it very well may be that they have tried to harvest spren off of dead radiants or Proto-radiants. It would also explain why they would want to kill Jasnah. Something tells me that the surge of transportation would be of interest to a group of worldhoppers. But clearly they not only want radiants, they would want all the types they can get. They are already interested in Unmades, what’s next? A shard?

There you go @Karger that was brilliant analysis. So you view them as closer to East India Company ? A business entity which global domination in their sight. They have resources and have information that is classified and they are not averse to using it. They recruit heavily from within the natives and thus create a group of loyalists who agree with their agenda

PS: @Rainier do they have authority from their home world to operate covertly on other planets for long sustained occupation of those worlds in the future? Interesting notion but Seems unlikely. Because they are operating too stealthily if they had. But may be they are a precursor to what EIC eventually became.
