And Kelsier wouldn't be opposed to killing people for his goals. What if Axolotl is Kelsier? From what I've heard, most of the reason for lynching Axolotl isn't just because he might be Hoid, but because there's a good possibility Axolotl stole Odium. Any role that allows someone to steal a Shard is threatening to any faction, whether that role is Hoid, Kelsier, or something else entirely. That's the reason for my vote, at least. Personally, the idea of having a Kelsier role is this game is frightening. As Albatross pointed out, canonically Kelsier has stolen a Shard before, and he would be 100 percent able to kill people along the way. Unlike Hoid, who for some reason we don't know, can't hurt anyone.

In the world doc I had with Iguana, they said they had information that someone was trying to kill someone who's role Iguana knew, but refused to reveal which person/role that was until after Khriss died. Though it's possibly an IKYK situation, it would have been pretty risky to admit knowledge of someone's role if you planned to kill them.

I have a few questions. How is being in contact with Khriss bad, when the general feeling I'm getting is Kriss is a generally good player (not out to kill everyone)? Also, are you able to explain what Iguana lied to you about? What kind of misinformation are they spreading? I'm hesitant to take sides right now because this is SE. Whenever anyone talks to someone outside their faction, it will rarely be the whole truth. I also have no reason at this point to believe either you or Iguana over the other, so the more you can explain, the more voting for them will make sense.

I'm here, I still exist (maybe). I should be able to contribute a bit more this weekend finally. I haven't played a Shard game before, but personal opinion is the kill on Odium was luck.** It seemed to me the thread was moving away from Weasel and Axolotl because there was some amount of evidence they wouldn't die, and so people were looking for another possible candidate. **I have not thoroughly read the turn, so I'm not sure exactly who voted on Lion or their individual reasons. My analysis is based on skimming alone.

So we're trying for a few cycles to lynch someone who just won't die because they made claims that may or (more likely) may not be proven by his death? I'm not sure what these claims are yet, so I'm going to do a bit more research before I vote.

I have not been as active as I had hoped, and catching up seems a daunting task. Why exactly are we wanting to lynch Weasel?

Huh, Yolen possibly being created is interesting, but seems like an inevitably. It'd bet that at least one win condition involves it.

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Pearl Chameleon replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Persistence and luck. One of my wincons has been to Action Spy someone committing a crime, and then ostracise that player, for about the last 5 cycles. That said, Venli in particular hopping on to the bandwagon of people saying they were trying to stop the Desolation felt off somehow, so I thought I should scan them and see what I found.- 1062 replies

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Pearl Chameleon replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah, I keep doing that by accident - I need more sleep. But yeah, I think I've gone back and fixed all of those. Sorry. (To be clear, I meant Radiant, not Herald, but I'm a klutz.) "You call yourself the herald of justice, yet there is no trial! At least the kings of Alethkar have trials, even biased ones though they are." The servant girl (with a Shardblade?) kept speaking, but Nale barely heard the words. He'd seen the signs for the returning Desolation, and the only hope of prevention had lain with the Nale looked ahead, and to his surprise, the tip of his raised sword was shaking slightly. Surely... Surely I'd done the right thing. Surely the death of a few would save so many more. And then, as time went on, surely it was always worth just a few more, or else all his grisly work - all his endless hours staving of the Desolation - would have been for nothing. He thought back, and realised he could no longer remember how many, in all these years, he'd executed, for the sake of Roshar. You call yourself the Herald of Justice... The girls words echoed around in his head. Could he turn back now? Should he? If he stopped now, then hundreds, possibly thousands, of lives, would have needlessly slaughtered by his hand. If he was truly the Herald of Justice, then surely his only option was to double down and carry through with his task, especially at this critical juncture. "I've done what I've had to do, for the good of Roshar. I've seen what comes next from this, and I swore an oath that I would do what I could to prevent it." An oath you broke so many years ago, leaving Taln... Poor Taln... The first in a long line of sacrifices I've made for the greater good. "I need... Alethkar needs... to destroy the Radiants, before they bring another Desolation upon us."- 1062 replies

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Pearl Chameleon replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"The time for help is over, Radiant. The best hope now is that you go peacefully. It's the only way to avert what is to come." Nale said, careful to keep all hint of doubt out of his voice. "I, Nale, Herald of the Justice hereby declare the state of Alethkar to be under martial law due to the death of King Gavilar Kholin and release of the Unmade Yelig-Nar. And, for the protection of the people of Roshar, I hereby sentence Jasnah Kholin, Radiant, to death."- 1062 replies

I... I failed. Nale saw the spirit of Yelig-Nar leave Aesudan's body... Aesudan? The signs were there, you should have known... and flee. The Unmade had returned. The Desolation was beginning. But... perhaps there was a chance. If he found the Radiants, stopped them from returning, then perhaps he could avoid the Desolation that was to come... Yelig-Nar was just an advance party in the war before the Everstorm. If he could just ... It's too late. Better to lead the Radiants - they'll be needed in the coming war. Yelig-Nar... to trap Yelig-Nar, we'd need a polestone. Nale tried to remember whether the Kholinar treasury held something like that - he couldn't be sure, but it would be a fair guess with all the pillaging that they'd done over the centuries. He'd seen the Spren - he knew one of the guests here tonight was a Radiant. You shouldn't have dallied as much as you did, or this may have been averted. Inkspren. Which meant that the Herald was probably a scholarly type. Jasnah or Navani, then. But which one? As Nale thought, Jasnah called for Navani and began leaving, Navani following behind. Follow them... Dispose of them, and perhaps this can all be averted. They've committed no crime. It would be a betrayal of all I stand for, all I've ever stood for. There's no time for that now! Act now, or all your work will have been for nothing! My work has been to uphold law and justice. Without that, what am I? Two lives. Two lives to potentially save millions. Surely, the outcome is worth the cost. There wasn't much time - things were coming to a head now - whatever the choice, he had to behave. And if he chose wrong, he'd have an eternity in Damnation to think about his mistake. Which way? The Radiant, or the treasury? Nale stayed unmoving for several moments - moments which he didn't have to waste. Then, he took off after the retreating forms of Jasnah and Navani. And he began to count to ten.- 1062 replies

I can't speak for any of the other Heralds - I can confirm for myself that I was working on completing my own win cons. That said, I can't think of a likely candidate in the Heralds, much less a coalition of them, who'd want you dead.- 1062 replies

"I hate to be so paranoid, Brightlady, but do you have any proof we can trust you? Your husband seemed to be involved with some kind of group that attacked your daughter, ostracised me from the party, and, I've heard whispers, they wished to return the Unmade in some kind of foolhardy attempt to bring back the Heralds in turn. I will most likely item scan someone today, if I do not see something more urgent I'd like done, but I am not certain whether I should trust you with the results. Do you have any guarantee you will destroy the Black Sphere like you say you will, and that this will destroy the Unmade, not release it, as you say?"- 1062 replies

Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Pearl Chameleon replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
As Nale strode through the palace corridors, he saw a bloody sheet over what was presumably yet another dead body. If the Alethi keep up at this rate, they may end up doing my job for me and cleaning up this whole mess themselves. Nale had heard whispers of the death of Renarin in the Palace Grounds, so seeing the Kholins standing around in shock didn't immediately tip him off. Still, the party seemed to be in a strange amount of disarray - even with the previous deaths, there had been someone to step in to maintain the peace. Where's Gavilar? He should be... oh. Oh dear. Nale strode forward to get a better look at the bloodied sheet "Hey! No touching! You could be tampering with the evidence!" one of the guards shouted, fumbling at his sword. "I commend you for your duty, but I assure you I would not tamper with a crime scene. I wasn't... in the palace at the time the crime occurred", Nale said, not letting any of the bitterness creep into his voice at that last part. "anyone here can verify that I have possibly the most ironclad alibi of anyone in this room, including you. As such, I'll do my best to try and investigate this crime to the best of my ability, and report the findings accordingly." The guard paused. "That will be all, thankyou. Continue to keep an eye on the body, and make sure nobody tampers with the evidence." The guard gave him a puzzled look, then eventually nodded. "Yes... sir?" Nale walked back towards the edge of the feast hall, and glanced about the room. All these people, each of them hiding their own dirty little secrets. Whoever it was that murdered Gavilar Kholin, I will find you. That is a promise.- 1062 replies

"Unfortunately, I have no evidence yet that I can bring to the table. However, I have the suspicion that the murder of Thaidakar, the attempted murder of Jasnah Kholin, and the murder of Torol Sadeas (recently claimed to have been committed accidentally by his wife) were all separate acts performed by separate people. This concerns me deeply - I do not understand how so many could find it in themselves to break the law in this way."- 1062 replies

Nale steps forward, considering. One dead, and Jasnah Kholin accused. The inkspren, currently, was in the corner, but as of yet, has said nothing. Curious. Nale looked toward @SE_Navani_Kholin, who also had not yet spoken. Perhaps, Inkspren, I can find a way to test where your allegiances lie. "Let us consider this!" Nale bellowed. "If we want to find out who killed this gentleman here, we must find out who stood to gain." Very few appeared to be listening to him, though he carried on anyway. "Does anyone know who this man was, or why he was here? That is the easiest way to find out who might have stood to benefit from his death." Nale approached the body. A Shardblade... Curious. Could the inkspren be far enough in their bonds? No. No, probably not. But it is worth investigating. Nale looked towards @SE_Elhokar_Kholin. "You seem... unconcerned, Brightlord, at the thought of an assassin at your party. Particularly since you seem to be selling a Shardbow, no less - does this not seem... insensitive to you?"- 1062 replies

"It says that the deliberate destruction of property is a crime for which the penalty is a fine equal to the destroyed object, plus between 1 and 1000 days in prison, dependant upon the price of the object." Nale's voice grew softer as he spoke. "However, it adds that repeated infractions of such crimes shall result in a more severe punishment. Specifically, the penalty of more than three repeat infractions, with damages equal to or exceeding 1000 Emerald Broams, is death."- 1062 replies

"Bah. Storming servant. They told it to me wrong." (Sorry.) "In that case, I agree that Adolin Kholin has committed no crime. However, someone should keep an eye on the boy, and make sure he doesn't try anything as... reckless as what he was planning before." "In the meantime, I'd like to hear from those in the feast who have not yet contributed to the discussion, and add any information you may have to offer. There are a number of people who have not contributed to the conversation about this newest turn of events at all. I have seen @SE_Meridas_Amaram, @SE_Restares, @SE_Elhokar_Kholin, and Thaidakar since the accusations began, and yet none of them have commented, at least publicly. Kelek seems to have wandered off somewhere, but his testimony would also be useful. The younger Kholin, Renarin, and two of our three Parshendi guests, seem to be the quiet types, but I feel it is important for even those who are normally shy to attempt to contribute discussion, so I would strongly encourage them to try to say anything at all, especially something related to today's accusations."- 1062 replies

When Nale returned to the hall where the feast was, there was pandemonium. What in the storms now... He called over a servant. "Explain to me what's going on, and how this all began. Quickly." The servant, bumbling and tripping over his words, just barely managed to get a sense of the string of accusations that had unfolded. So the highprinces have begun to reveal their true colors, as squabbling children. Part of me is surprised they took so long. Slowly, Nale stood up on the table, to make himself be better heard. Better he be seen as the voice of justice now, so that people would turn to him as such later in the evening if it came to it. "It appears to me that we have one party - those who are accusing Adolin Kholin, who seem legitimately aggrieved by Kholin's actions last night. The other group, on the other hand, seems less interested in the execution of justice, and more interested in saving their Adolin Kholin from ostracism. As such, I am more inclined to trust the stories of Aesudan and her compatriots." "Further," I added, "Adolin has also appeared to lie about the action he performed last night. He claimed he performed an action - in collaboration with Wit - which proves Aesudan tried to kill Klade. However, this lie was exposed by Liss - at significant risk to herself, I should add - and so, I'd like to know why Adolin Kholin lied, and what action he performed in the last half hour."- 1062 replies

There were nine Herald statues in the hall. Ash... You fool... You know I can't let this slide... Nale, at all times, tried to keep himself in a state of cool, calm, reason. Justice must not act rashly, but act impartially, with a consideration of the facts and nothing else. But, at this moment, it was all Nale could do not to smash his fist into a wall into frustration. Why tonight?! Why, of all nights, did you have to do this tonight! She was jeopardizing everything. Nale often felt like his mission was like treading water - stop for one moment, and your head dips below the surface. Moments like this... this panic, was when his head dipped below the surface, even for a moment. You couldn't hesitate, performing justice. You couldn't pause, or stop, for anything, let alone for personal matters. Ash... I'm sorry, but we both know I have to do this. Why did you make me have to do this?! Nale paused. He needed to clear his head. He couldn't afford to be in this state of mind - he couldn't allow for mistakes. Perhaps an ardent. That would allow him to clear his head. He needed to figure out what his next course of action, and talking it through might help with that. After that, he'd deal with the Inkspren. And Ash.- 1062 replies
