Anniversary Game 8 / AN11: Back to Beginnings

I will say - I had to leave about 10 minutes before rollover. I was on until then, and still chose not to vote, mainly because the candidates weren't the ones I had largely been looking at. Plus a close execution leaves vote manipulation around to play, which is information I like to have. And decisions are pressure. Make of that what you will. Scimon Tlag was not exactly happy with the death of Riggs. For one thing, they'd nearly closed a deal. For another, the reasoning for choosing him above the others was because he was drunkenly shouting his wares, which was about half of Tlag's job description. There were already a few whispers about his work and interactions with Su, but he'd heard worse and from far quicker reactions. Still, that usually happened after someone noticed the sugarleaf or the qui-no. Fortunately the village wasn't quite so desperate to go for another try upon discovering his innocence, which gave him a chance to give a brief, somewhat-public eulogy. "I'll try and remember your name. Riggs. You know where that name comes from? It was one of the Lord Ruler's first supporters. Back when his supporters didn't cross the entire continent, when the Deepness was still known and the Mists still young. Back when his supporters actually had his ear and could make a change, instead of just being yes men." "That's your history fact, I guess. That that man once existed. That those times sure existed. Because they sure don't now." Tlag gave a sad grin, slowly rotating the small chain of silver in his hand. "I hope you heard that, wherever you are." Maybe he should ask Su that. He had some idea, but only a small one. Now, it was time to see what the nightlife of this town was. -

This is certainly a tense rollover. I'll probably eat those words, if someone sells them to me. And there's a vote count. -

Scimion internally flinched. No, this is Dyring's Inn. That's where they were going. Not their name. Their name was... was... erh, just roll with it. Scimion Tlag, in a strange display of genuinity, added a mentally whispered Praise the Ja. [Thanks] -

Scimon Tlag smiled. "Praise the Ja!" he said, slightly louder. He had to think of something else to say... what would a Jaist - Ja-ist? - would want to buy. Someone else caught his eye. What was their name again... Dyring. Inn owner, gambler, mauvian, and apparently history fact connoisseur. Tlag was a bit miffed that people only wanted to gather those - he had much more to offer. But it was a starting place in a buyer's market. He'd get them eventually. Now gambling, Tlag had some experience in. "Dyring! Good to see you. You'd like to purchase by gambling? I'd be happy to, if you've got a method, but I'm not sure what it would be," he said warmly. He paused a moment. "Praise the Ja." Best to keep some options open. -

Of course, the Ja! Love that guy. Good at preaching discord, too. I'll try to avoid letting my wonders wander. I knew that could be risky about Qui... erh... Praise the Ja! Ah, good. That determination makes sense, if it depends a lot on how mischievous the JMs are feeling. I was more confused the wording of the statement, which seemed to say "There must be a Village Tineye, unless there's an Elim Tineye", which is a tad circular. A pleasure doing business with you! -

My friend, you'd be surprised how valuable semantics can be! Obligators sure do love their contracts. I can get you a good deal on some, though. Perhaps you are looking for a different item? Give me but a moment, I'll see what I have in my stores. Ah, Saffron! I feel you'll find my prices to be exceptional. But perhaps a second sample will do: I'm sure you know of the history of the four Cantons, of Inquisition, Finance, Resource, and Orthodoxy. But did you know it used to be three? There used to be only one Canton in control of the economy. But then a plot was uncovered, where certain high-level obligators were siphoning boxings from the canal barges. The Lord Ruler really wasn't happy about that for some reason. Lot of red in the Luthadel fountains that day. Anyway, that's why the Canton split! That way the bulk of the money isn't controlled by the same people transporting it. Harder to falsify paperwork that way. As for the cost... perhaps that negotiation could occur in private? Or I'd accept some explanation of this statement: Scimon Tlag is slightly confused on your opinion on the Tineyes? Colors and animals, colors and animals. Hard to keep track in my head sometimes. Numbers, numbers I can do, but colors and animals? Especially new icons. Don't get me wrong, they look fantastic! But they are a new factor. To summarize, it's hard to keep the individuals distinct. Some thoughts: I'm more of the opinion that the distribution is a more standard Tyrian setup. What that means, I'm honestly not sure. Village Seeker, or at least more Village Seekers than Elim Seekers. Less Copperclouds? Probably only two Tineyes again. One Village Coinshot. Thugs, Lurchers, Soothers, Rioters, who knows. Need to have some level of chaos. That's what I think. Reasons are a bit complex, so that I'll have to charge extra. Praise the Ja! Who's the Ja? I bet I can scrounge some info on them as well, but Su may have cornered that market. That purpose may linger. Pearl, pearl, pearl. That first post does seem to be stating the obvious. Of course Coinshots should be cautious. The tone is what jars me. And not like a jar of honey. Every other post is refined, constructed. Every other other is quick, short, and lacking syntax. Is that expressing the nature of the Chameleon, to change every moment? Or is that the nature of something more sinister and pointy? The consistency of the pattern is aiming me toward the former. Turquoise, Scarlet, Emerald, Salmon. I love your methods of speech, although there is the point of concern in trying to decipher your words. More on Turquoise and Scarlet than the other two for now. Shouldn't matter now though. I need a ledger. Salmon, Chartreuse, and Saffron talk together a lot. Coral! I don't really have a reason for being absent, besides returning to one of my spots for a few more items. This type of anonymity is hard to maintain, which makes it hard to check in much. I'm not going to promise that I'll be around more, but I'm taking steps to make that a possibility. I also like to... erh... establish a presence? Hard to sell things if people don't know you're around. As for the choice of voting for a Null read... I have to say I admire it. On D1, as a first vote. Later I may have more issues, so let's see if it changes. And eventually, it does! Amber, your posts are... going off the screen. Massive summaries are interesting. But not massively interesting, and I'd prefer to send this ledger out. Vote count has been strange. -

Scimon Tlag quickly went through the many pockets of is over-large cloak. String - check. Boxings - check. Fake boxings - check. Brass flakes - check. Silver flakes - check. Ashleaf flakes - check. Bologna sandwich - check. Random history facts - check. Sugarleaf flakes - erh, best not to wave about that one. Qui- best not to think about that one, actually. Tlag knew a Tyrian falls had a reputation for Allomancers, and while that made it a unique place to sell certain materials, it also meant, well, Allomancers. He didn't quite believe that the more mental ones could read minds, but he didn't want to find out on this adventure. Anything else? A spare sandwich and some minty alcohol, but that was for him. He had more stuff in his room. And in his cart. The majority and most interesting of his goods were outside, in his little camp outside town. But Scimon Tlag knew when to leave a town and when to stay in town. A horrible collision of rampaging koloss, terrified villagers, and secret saboteurs? Stay. Definitely stay. Far too many variables for sneaking out of town to be a viable strategy. Plus, all of those groups had one thing in one common. Well, that was rampaging bloodthirst. Which sometimes was a viable strategy for a sales pitch. But forgetting the koloss - even Scimon Tlag wasn't insane enough to try and trade with a koloss - they were all desperate. Desperate people buy things. Buy things they wouldn't normally need. Buy things they wouldn't normally want. Buy things they wouldn't normally disregard the lack of legality. And Scimon Tlag, well, he was desperate enough to sell them all. Tlag patted his pockets one more time and went to find someone suitably desperate. As the resident salesman of random history facts, Kasimir's LG74 was in fact set in Fallion's Tears, not Tyrian Falls. Even if Tearion Falls seems somewhat similar and analogous. In other words, I agree with the sentiment that LG74 probably isn't a great judge of what this game's distribution will be. I wouldn't be surprised if something unpredictable occurs, but a similar setup is unlikely in my opinion. -

Long Game 79/Anonymous Game 10: The Rhythm of Freedom
Melon Dingo replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
You’re my top suspicion for a lot of reasons. You can go back and look at all my posts D1 and N1 to see why. And it wasn’t that you brought up the kill, it’s how you brought it up. It felt like you were just saying it so that you could say something about the kill. And that reads kind of elim-y to me. If you’d said everything in this post in your first one, it wouldn’t have seemed at all suspicious.- 819 replies

Rhino Also, this sentence: This feels to me like saying “good job guys, we caught the elim!” It feels a bit elim-y to me. Edit: @Opal Lion Albatross is also suspicious, but Rhino has had a lot more instances, like the one above, that I thought were AI.- 819 replies

Hello everyone! So I just… forgot to post today. I read through some of the thread, and the one person who seems suspicious is Rhino, because of their failures to provide explanation for some of their votes and retractions. Keep in mind that I have not read through the full thread, so there could be something that I missed, but I do know this happened without clarification at least twice. See you tomorrow!- 819 replies

Long Game 79/Anonymous Game 10: The Rhythm of Freedom
Melon Dingo replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hello everyone! Here are my initial thoughts: The elim team is probably 5 people - 19/4 = 4.75, and a 4-person team would probably lead to a ridiculously easy village game. Mateform seems a bit dangerous, but not dangerous enough as to completely throw the game. With 15 villagers, most of which are hopefully active *ahem*, we have more than enough votes to override most mateform restrictions. If the elims get their hands on some of the Warform gemstones (there are only four of them, including the one hypothetically gained with Scholarform) later in the game, then that's pretty bad news for us. I doubt we need to worry about that now, but it's something to keep in mind for the future. If you have no other form you want to take, Artform is a good one. It's just fun We shouldn't take Scholarform until we have a plan for which two gemstones we want to have more of. This is a tricky decision, and one we shouldn't take lightly. Nimbleform is useful under some very specific circumstances. We don't want the elims getting their hands on Workform or Mediationform. Those could be dangerous.- 819 replies

Well, I’m glad “Mercy’s secret ability” wasn’t really real. Though, I’m slightly concerned that Autonomy most likely added a vote too me. I would not be opposed to lynching them for lack of a better target, unless of course, they agree to give us any information they have on the Odious ones.- 1222 replies

Anniversary Game 7/Anonymous Game 9: From Embers, A Flame
Melon Dingo replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I would like to add something. I very much enjoyed the first three turns of this game. It has been one of the first times I’ve felt PMs have actually been beneficial to my play. In that I was able to plan a way to trap a certain hatey-boy, but alas, him being freed has ruined that plan. I also feel like I’m in a generous position just because of how fun my role is, and how much I can do with it (GMs, I think Ruin is a little broken tbh). I was able to stop the elim kill N2 by simple destroying Shadesmar. That was satisfying. In this stage of the game, however, I agree with others. It feels too easy, and I haven’t gotten to play much of a role in the game since N3, as I’m only in a small PM circle, despite the extraneous amounts of PMs I got after N2. To be honest, I’ve really just been following along with Mouse, as they’ve essentially single-handedly solved the game. This could be from my lack of ability to really make good reads on people and form true suspicions... I don’t know. These are just my thoughts that probably should’ve been saved for the aftermath. Though at this point, I’m sure everyone is aware that I’m Ruin (I also wrote the write-up for the destruction of Shadesmar, similarly to what Rhino did). I won’t say I’m not having fun watching the elim team just get clapped (though I feel a little sorry for them), but it’s just not as enjoyable as it was in the earlier cycles of the game, when I didn’t know every single players role almost.- 1222 replies
