Another man dead. It felt different, somehow. Days the murders had been going on, by both the village and the spiked, but it was the first time that Rind's say had mattered. He felt a little sick. What made it worse was that the others seemed to trust him, for some rusting reason. No, he couldn't afford to be wrong again. Rind flared tin. The resulting blast of sensation nearly knocked him to his feet, but it did the job clearing his head. He staggered upright. "I've got something to tell you all." Rind took a deep breath. "Now I haven't been lying- or well, only a little bit, I did soothe Byrar but no-one 'fore or since then, an-" Rind pauses. His rambling wasn't helping. "I'm mistborn." There. It was out. That didn't still Rind's racing thoughts, but it let them at least turn to the situation at hand. Lying about his own soothing had made him question if the two smokers could both be trusted, but with Kael a rioter surely one had to be evil. The vote for Kael had garnered a lot of support, Rind found it unlikely that there hasn't been any saboteurs helping it along which might implicate Byrar over Sew? With Kael not spiked though, and only one other person voting for Sew, it was more than likely a spiked had set their vote upon Heron too. At least with votes concentrating there'd be more to work with once they did find the first saboteur. (@Ivory Dragonfly @Mint Heron a reminder to please turn off your copperclouds tonight!)

"I'm a soother, and Sew (Dragonfly) and Byrar (Heron) are smokers. Someone else also told me they were a soother." Heron (2): Weasel, Mouse Dragonfly (2): Ostrich, Penguin Ostrich (2): Crocodile, Swan Vulture (2): Dingo, Falcon Dingo (1): Vulture Swan (1): Heron No Vote: Dragonfly, Hyena The new votes were interesting, but Rind didn't quite know how to place them. He doubted that both the smokers were saboteurs, but it could as easily be one as neither of them, and what the other soother had done had worked out awfully well for the spiked. Suave had been unhelpful all day, but unhelpful doesn't neccesarily mean evil, and Falcon had been awfully quick to jump on that claim. Three days of this, and was there still no-one he could really trust? Rind's head hurt. Leaving the votes so close, though, especially with soothers about, didn't seem like such a good idea. With that, he decides to leave his own on Ostrich. Rind gets up to leave, tired from thinking so much. He stops at the door for a moment, then quietly shouts over to Sew (@Ivory Dragonfly) and Byrar (@Mint Heron). "Uhm, it might be a good idea to leave your copperclouds off tomorrow? If there's a seeker here then clearing you two would be really helpful right now." The door of the inn closes softly behind him.

"Something seems wrong with this push for Sew, maybe we should gather up the votes a little?" Dragonfly (3): Swan, Ostrich, Penguin, Crocodile Vulture (2): Dingo, Falcon Heron (1): Weasel Dingo (1): Vulture Swan (1): Heron Ostrich (1): Crocodile No Vote: Mouse, Hyena, Dragonfly

"Can you.. explain how?" Rind sounds exasperated. Rind nods in agreement. "The Jaist has a point here. I was worried about yesterday's vote manipulation but the Soother who did it has gone and told me. I'm still a bit suspicious of them, though I'll avoid revealing any more potential town allomancers for now. Malmoc was the main person bringing up questioning the more quiet people yesterday, and now they're dead, so that might be something worth looking into?"

"I don't see how that's untrue? Someone I believed to be a town lurcher was up for possible execution, and I wanted to try and prevent that while not causing confusion about vote totals." "I'm still wary of Byrar, but I can follow up more than one suspicion in a day."

As elusive as they'd been, Vulture's answer didn't reassure Rind. "If I misunderstand then please do elaborate." A revenge vote with no explanation, after Rind had placed his own only to draw out a response, did not sit right with him.

"I didn't see a reason." Rind began. "I didn't know who to trust, who not to, and I didn't want to distract from discussion when the votes inevitably didn't line up. I didn't plan on revealing it, but when Hayden was in danger I didn't see another way of saving him. I believed he was a Lurcher, so keeping him around was far more important. The Jaist had broken parity just before I ended up sharing, but I didn't process that until after I had already spoken."

"Day two, to try and save Hayden. I didn't soothe anyone before that." "If not, then maybe Byrar rioting someone yesterday still seems likely? After what happened then I'm definetely not the only emotional allomancer here."

Rind looks up, hearing his name. "I actually have a bit more to discuss about that tonight, but for now all I'll say is I'm a little inclined to trust the Jaist's claim." "Sauve (@Amber Vulture) is definetely someone I'd like to hear from. They spoke in defence of Hayden, but only right as the day ended, and didn't change their vote from Falcon all day."

"A- Actually I'm not so sure about that anymore." Rind walked quietly over to the Jaist. He had never quite brought himself to trust the priest, but they were no different there than anyone else in the village. "Byrar claimed he could burn copper, and Sew sought me out earlier to do the same, though said she didn't stop my soothing him." He glaces apologetically at Sew. That secret wasn't his to share, but with suspicion building against her any information seemed relevant. "If you're a soother, Jaist, then Byrar's claim makes sense. It's a bit unlikely this small a group would have two smokers, but not near impossible. There's quite a few people here who haven't spoken up much and I'd like to hear from them just as much as those two."

Rind shakes his head. Mere minutes before the end of the day, the votes had sat at two upon the priest and Sew. If the other emotional allomancer had already left for the night, then protecting the Jaist (a figure under much suspicion) would leave them alive to waste another vote the following day. The Jaist's first suggestion was a possibility, but making such a strong assumption from the second seemed a bad idea.

Rind couldn't believe it. The one time he thought he could save someone, to be helpful, and nothing came of it. Worse than nothing. Hayden was dead. He knew that he had soothed Byrar, yet the accusations against Hayden never seemed to cease. Not only that, but the Jaist had somehow evaded the suspicion being pointed their way. There were only a few ways Rind could make sense of this. Option one, a smoker. Whether Byrar themselves were, or another had extended their coppercloud, that would explain Rind's lack of influence. It would of course leave another soother in their midst, lulling suspicion of the Jaist. Option two, Heron was a rioter. Despite his own accusations being quieted he could inflame others to push forth their own. In that situation drawing a vote from the Jaist might implicate the two as working together, but it's equally likely that the saboteur was trying to fuel the current suspicion against the Jaist, leaving them for the rest of the town to deal with over the coming days, and the saboteur free to strike against others. Both were possible, but one thing was for certain. Byrar was not to be trusted.

Apologies for not being around today, should hopefully have more time for analysis tomorrow. *** Rind was confused to say the least. An attempted murder on the drunk who had been isolated for a murder of their own, one survived through allomancy? And yet others seemed to be pointing the blame towards him regardless. If the man was a lurcher, then surely it would be in the saboteurs' best interests to try and find another way to get rid of him? Heron especially seemed insistent on the his death, which Rind found rather suspicious. Hayden had seemed reluctant to talk, but with all he'd gone through surely there was a reasonable explanation for that. Rind thinks it only reasonable to do what he can to stop Hayden dying before giving a proper defence, so reluctantly he taps into a still-unfamiliar well of power, the taste of brass fresh in his mouth... The one Rind trusted most was Falcon, so it surprised him to see so much suspicion towards them, but he had been too busy contemplating the others to think too much about that now. He supposed that would have to wait for the next day.

Rind still sat unmoving in his chair. He had always been a fearful man, ever since his parents had been eaten by one of those creatures that lurk in the mists. He'd leave a lamp burning by his bedside overnight, to keep the night at bay, then jump when he woke up to the dancing shadows. It was better than being alone in the dark though. The real dangers were the ones you couldn't see coming, the things that would sneak around the edge of your vision and strike just when you weren't ready for it. Mistwraiths. Saboteurs. That was what Rind had thought, what he had lived by, until he saw the two men die in front of him. Now, staring at the once-comforting lamplight only burned the image of the ignited watchtower into his eyes. For what it was worth, Rind didn't think Hayden was a saboteur. If the rumours were true, that there wasn't just one of them, it would have been easy for a saboteur to step in and leave the outcome of the brawl less up to chance - or maybe even use some of that allomancy that people had been whispering about to sway it in his favour. Unless the saboteurs were asleep. It had been rather late, and surely saboteurs also slept? That seemed unlikely to Rind though, as people had seemed fairly untrustworthy of Hayden throughout the day and there had been little support for him then. Lysia had moved to accuse Alias right before the fight broke out, which Rind noted as a potential sign they and Hayden were working together, but something about that explanation didn't sit right with him. It seemed to easy. Thinking back, Falcon's point last night of suspicion moving quite easily off of Acks was a good one, something Rind might try and follow up on the following day. For now though, he figured all that was left was to get as much sleep as his racing mind would allow before the chaos the next day would surely bring.

Rind shifts a little in his seat, turning to look at the figure yelling over at him. He offered a sheepish correction. "I wasn't saying the Jaist was random miss, just that he didn't give anywhere near the amount in the way of explanation as the rest of you folk. Nibbles' apples were the randomness that I was referring to, if we're still searching for this sabateur days down the line then that won't leave much to judge him by is all."

With hurried clatter the door to the inn slammed open, a mousy looking man darting in and shutting the door behind him just as quickly. Rind was always quick to scare, but the burning of the watchtower and whispers of a sabateur had him even more skittish than usual. Terrible things lurked in the mists, and if whoever had killed Gam had been undeterred by them then the perpetrator could only be even more frightening. The tense atmosphere in the inn did little to assuade this fear. Rind found a table for himself, keeping his head down and listening to the flying accusations. The most fingers seemed pointed at Acks, but nothing Rind overheard left them inclined to agree. No, the Jaist (@Mauve Crocodile) and Nibbles (@Indigo Weasel) drew his attention most. Sharing no reasoning while being so quick to blame was never a good sign. With as little as Rind knew his suggestions may as well be random, but he felt better about following his gut than the roll of the dice- or, well, the apple.

I see we have another Ruin's Champion to face... This was pretty fun, and I did my best to stay up to speed with things after I died. Unfortunately the Elims didn't succeed in getting Swan N4, or they would have finished murdering the "PMing Spree" trust quartet of Dingo/Tuatara/Meerkat/Swan with utmost efficiency. (Also for those living, no, I did not talk in the entire doc like this. That would have given even me too much of a headache.)

I think avoiding making ashmounts out of molehills would be good for everyone. But dismissing them entirely is also, perhaps, not ideal. But I've said my piece on it, as far as it goes. And there are other places to look for suspicions for the day.

Oh my. Iguana was a Rioter. Ergo, someone had vote manipulation. Not sure if they were on at rollover but Toucan and Heron’s votes were significantly before.

See, that's less not "really the right phrase" and more the complete opposite. You weren't suspicious of the lack of substance, but were suspicious of the substance itself. I'll also note that I specifically said I didn't want to vote Falcon. I didn't understand their reasoning, and found parts of it faulty, but they also had reasoning to look at. Chameleon - that's quite alright, but it would be nice to know earlier. And an update on your Hyena opinions would be appreciated. From what I saw, you were there?

Spy they may be, but some spies can live guilt-free. Ivory Dragonfly, can I ask what about my posts seems so performative and insubstantial that you vote me 40 seconds before rollover?
