Lack of better options, really (as to why you're being suspected). I'm getting a general sense that you're beginning with a set of conclusions with your posts and working your logic backwards to reach them rather than vice versa, which is the only way I have of telling evil!Devotary from her village counterpart, and even if I can't explain it well I'm still suspicious there As for TJ, I'm trying to put together a response, but it's also 2 AM, so it's not going to be a reasonable one and will likely not make him happy. Then again a three-hour masterpiece probably wouldn't make him happy either because I'm accusing him. ok so I actually put it together this is the last thing I am doing before bed I was talking D1 between Striker/Books, where you had the firm suspicion but then had some statements in there which made it seem like you were leaving room for yourself to back off if you needed. I had them quoted but then, you know, the text editor (which has eaten no fewer than three of my posts this game >>). I'm not condemning you for introducing complexity, but rather for doing so in a way that seemed designed to let you back off. You qualified that read heavily, iirc, but given it was D1 I suppose this isn't a huge point against you. It's just something I noticed. I read the reasoning and was not very much convinced by it, so no, I was not disregarding it I think it doesn't justify the inconsistency between your stated suspicion of Striker and where the vote actually ended up: it basically says you voted because you always do, but offers little explanation as to why it was on Books and not Striker, given you had condemned the latter far more heavily and had the chance to narrow the gap rather than widening it. Given his lack of content I'd say this is basically a defence Mostly that he was actually voting, which is something most of the semi- and inactives aren't bothering with. I will admit that I thought he had more content than he actually did, though, so you're right to call me out on that; I don't know why I'd made him out to be more active in my head, but it wasn't justified. I just found the unexplained jump on Maill curious since you'd previously built an actual case against Gears, and none of all that had explicitly been mentioned by you when you cast your vote. I'll admit that the stuff I pointed out mostly seems small and that I don't have great reason to vote on you. But given that we have no elim flips, a semiactive playerbase (including myself at times, sadly) and a lot of unexplained votes flying around, I don't have great reason to vote on anyone. I have a few people I still trust, or want to trust, some people I distrust but can't build a case against because they've said mostly nothing, and some people I distrust and nobody else seems to think is evil (Connie and SoR). You're my most active suspicion besides maybe Devotary, but given that you two are clearly not on a team together I'm going with my gut, and the best analysis I have, and given that I ran into more problems with your ISO than hers, or those of Burnt/Gears/Illwei that I did last cycle, this is where I am, and given that it's now 2:43 AM, this is where I will stay. My mob-leading skills have been off this game, as well as my skills in general, it seems. Though if you're going to complain about it I'm happy to start the wagon back up on you. I just don't think it's terribly productive right now.

Hey! Someone agrees with me on something this game! (oh wait it's the person I've trusted for four cycles straight why do I feel like I'm going to wake up tomorrow having been pocketed to the moon and back by Maill and Stick) Hey, I'm missing the Coinshot, mostly because a hit on Devo or one of the lower-actives last night probably would have helped clarify discussion a bit. Say what you will about Bip's accuracy but she did take away some black holes of discussion so that we could let Maill become a black hole instead >> Maybe I'm blind but do you have that explanation? You've returned to the thread to make jibes and such but haven't actually elaborated on your suspicions Unless the elims have a Coinshot they inexplicably haven't been using, it'd be hard to grant both wishes at once It's too late for a pure info Maill exe, I think - as Illwei rightly points out later, we might be at ShrekLo depending on how many eliminators there are and how much vote manipulation they have. I'm not dead confident in Maill's alignment after the weird way this cycle's shrek has developed, but... I'm not gonna be killing him when there are so many other people I suspect up for the shrek. Also, quacc I guess my rebuttal to the question is why is he evil, other than meta reasons (yes yes this is facetious, I get there are voting pattern / malicious framing points against him, I just don't find them convincing enough to have naturally received the level of condemnation he has this game unless his shrek was being pushed by the elims or the meta had changed between the time he played before and now so that behaviours which I find normal from him - phishing, role-trading, PMing, gambiting and lying to try to tease information and suspicions out of people - are now regarded as suspect). I think this has been addressed, but I would like to reiterate that roles don't prove anything about alignment My assumption when the XP kill was first announced was that an elim Mistborn had done it, and even though the subsequent info on Fallion's Four came out, I'm still uneasy about you, especially given that the other targets being considered by your group at the time (Illwei, Maill) I've tentatively chosen to trust for now, meaning that I'm about 70% sure that all of your kill target possibilities were village these are my two top suspicions plus a player I'm side-eyeing I will agree that we need more votes, sorry to have been unhelpful in this regard >> I'll go TJ and will explain when I try to quote the previous day's stuff I'm fine with either of these, I guess, but would prefer TJ; any chance of you switching back? Sorry y’all, my activity keeps flickering with schoolwork and old friends wanting to cram five months’ worth of conversation into a single evening. I’m gonna read through and probably do my last great multiquote after I grab something to eat, but the three people I most suspect now are TJ, Devo and one of SoR/Connie (yes this is four people that’s why I need to do analysis ).

Most of your posts are like that One-word replies, banter, :thonk: emojis, whatever. But when you actually bother posting about suspicions and analyse people you seem to have a village thought process and generally make good points. But my gut still doesn't like the filler you tend to post Basically my thoughts on Maill are that he's received a disproportionate amount of condemnation for his actions. Gears points out malicious framing and Quinn had gone after him for voting patterns, I think, but he's responded to both of those accusations in what I'd see as a village manner, and everyone else voting him just sort of jumped on out of gut feeling, particularly this cycle. The actions which he's accused of being evil for seem very standard with the kind of fast-and-loose style that he's famed for as a villager, especially the fake claims, and I just can't see any good reason for him to be evil; elim!Maill would have accepted his lynch and let one of his teammates claim a scan or let his whole team bus him. The fact that he's getting defended by a wide variety of people but still has enough traction as a lynch makes me think the elims are both attacking him and propping him up to cause confusion and incriminate people on his wagon once he flips village, and are also using him as a distraction for their own suspicious players. V/V lynches are common - we had one C2 - and the fact that Quinn was killed last cycle doesn't automatically bear on Maill's alignment. Normally I'd advocate getting rid of him to clear the air, but we have at most three mislynches left, and I'm not eager to burn one of them on a fun player who has almost no chance of being evil.

I have done my readthrough of Gears, Illwei, Burnt and TJ, but have lost all my notes because I made the mistake once again of putting them in the text editor. Araris has a pretty good ISO of Gears, even though I disagree with the conclusions he draws, and Gears has a good ISO of Illwei, so for those two at least people can have some idea what I'm basing my reads on, but this post is basically a tl;dr of an hour and a half of combing through old posts. Conclusions: Gears soft village (sensible analysis, willing to take stances when necessary), Illwei null village (most of her content is NAI or what I would uncharitably term filler, but she's been doing work towards developing suspicions and thinking through things methodically, so that outweighs the strong negative gut feeling I retain), Burnt is village (I am going somewhat off my PM here in addition to the short but meaningful contributions she's made in-thread + our mindmeld on Maill). Maill I didn't ISO, but I still retain a firm belief that he will flip villager if he is shrekked today; Araris' comment that he's basically just using his normal playstyle and catching flak for it because it's out of step with the meta is how I essentially feel about it. However, I'm not voting for either of them, but for TJ Shade, who is definitely a viable lynch option with 10 hours left in the cycle and most of the Americans going to bed. Very condensed lynch case: pushed lynch on Striker fairly firmly while leaving enough ambiguity in his posts to back off if necessary, and hedged a lot on Stick for no apparent reason C1. At the end of this sequence he votes on Books instead with little explanation. Casts aspersions on the Soothers, at least one of whom is village and the other I am currently reading as mild village, and then doubles down on the Gears suspicion through D2. Does rightfully point out suspicion on Tari / Condensation, and has an Ashbringer vote which I liked at the time, so D3 is the largest argument against him being evil. Defends Dannex, who I'm still of the opinion is lurking evil. Really delayed reply to him about TWS, by the way, that I just had an enormous null read on them because I tended to like their contributions when they did materialise. (This cycle with the Maill vote not so much.) Finally, today he has voted Maill, offering no explanation as to why when he hasn't seriously addressed him before at all, and when the alternative is now Gears, whom he has previously expressed suspicion for which we have no evidence to indicate has gone away. Initially I was reading him as village just for being an active analyst, but looking back his conclusions have been largely vague and/or helpful to the Elims, or at least against key villagers. Some brief asides: I'd really like to see more from SoR and Dannex, and if village Mistborn draw Steel, they'd be good targets if they're not going to be voting / providing suspicions. I do see that SoR at least has re-emerged, and would encourage them to place a vote this cycle so I can get a read based off something other than my now-outdated C1 antipathy. Devotary's recent posts have confused me more than anything else and she'll probably get analysed sometime tomorrow. I'd like to hear a bit from Condensation, especially since I retained a gut feel against Tani, the previous occupant of that role. Stink has slipped entirely under my radar simply with PM vibes and I might have to re-examine that. Elandera has fallen off my radar completely but has also been expressing opinions so I don't know what's up with her, other than maintaining my cautious village read from C2ish. My problem this game is that I have a lot of elim feelings and suspicions but no good elim reads except on people who nobody else wants to go for, and my village reads are getting persecuted. So yes, this is kind of a protest vote against both leading wagons, but I'm unhappy with the hyperfocus on Maill, and especially unhappy that most of the blowback to it has fallen on the head of another person I trust

I finished my essay! (and still have three other things to do tonight but they can wait because I've been really poor about posting here) So. I have been reading through everything, and am sad that the TUO flip did not produce an elim. I was very convinced there and it's made me re-evaluate all my reads. At the very least my idea of an elim team that was completely lurking/inactive has been shot down, and I've forced myself to take second looks at some of my softer trusts. That said, I'm still (almost) completely sure that Maill is good, and will be presenting some counter-arguments to his shrekking later today or tomorrow. A list of people I want to look at in addition to Maill, though I may not get to everyone at the same time: - Gears. Been getting village vibes from the recent analysis, but I want to confirm that the content of said analysis lines up with my perception of it. - TJ. Less confident in his village-ness, mostly because the pool of suspects is dwindling. He's worth re-examination at the very least. - Illwei. Still suspicious there, doubly so since the thread has moved past her without much comment. - Burnt. Has emerged in thread a bit more recently, as well as in PMs. Don't know if this is correcting an oversight or an effort to become more visibly trusted, but right now assuming a v!Maill I think she's good. - All the Maill voters from last cycle, and the Quinn voters. I think there's at least one elim on each wagon and will try to deduce who.

@Ashbringer without responding to everything you said because I don’t have time, you’re correct that my vote on you is unfair if I apply my own standards to myself. As such, Ash. (Though I would note that I provided a fairly detailed reads list back in C2.) I also apologise for possibly insulting anyone’s vote or implying it was low-effort—my own vote wasn’t particularly thought through. 1 AM Fifth should be neither awake nor posting things. With all that said, I still dislike both the Maill and Quinn votes, and I remain unconvinced by Devotary’s ideas which she expresses in her vote. In the interest of actually putting down a vote that has a chance of affecting the lynch outcome, though, it’ll have to be Dannex. The fact that Illwei is not voting on Maill despite the accusations giving her every reason to is probably the best evidence in favour of village!Illwei I can think of, even if I don’t understand why she’s voting Dannex herself, and having developed a strong aversion to the leading lynch trains, and with Dannex having been one of my top suspicions alongside SoR and TUO for a lurking Elim, I’m fine with joining her and trying to create some kind of alternative to the two leading candidates, neither of whom I suspect enough to want dead. (Though it admittedly feels weird trying to build a lynch off the vote of someone I most suspected to be Elim out of those three. *sigh*) I’d also urge @TJ Shade, @_Stick_, @Burnt Spaghetti and @Mailliw73 himself to consider any alternate shrekkings - none of you seemed to suspect Quinn or Maill, and you might have more time to put into analysis than I can manage trying to juggle a very busy schedule. Probably my last post for this cycle unless I need to change my vote onto a better target. Dannex is definitely not my first choice, and my rough order of suspicions looking at this cycle goes TUO —> Tani —> Devotary —> Dannex —> SoR —> Ash —> Araris —> Illwei, with a note that Gears mainly confuses me even if I don’t necessarily suspect him. It should be noted that this list (esp higher up) is mainly lower actives because I think we’re letting those people lurk and kill everyone else, so if the Dannex train doesn’t take off, this would also be my shortlist for Coinshot kills.

I lied about going to sleep My problem is people adding on votes like that without stating what they agree with other people on. Very few of the votes on Maill or Illwei, even mine or Quinn’s, really point to anything specifically suspicious. This is a problem, especially on D3 when we should have more to go on, and it’s why the Ash wagon feels the most correct to me: even though Stick followed TJ, she actually pointed out what she agreed with and added her own reasoning. That’s how votes and arguments should develop, but with Maill there’s this artificial impression that everyone else has reasons to be suspicious of him when there’s been not much actually said against him other than Quinn’s interactions analysis, which is predicated heavily on assumptions she’s bringing into the equation, and Illwei’s tunnelling argument, which she took back after Maill’s response. The wagon on Quinn feels similar; I assume people are agreeing with Araris, but they aren’t saying so and I don’t understand where the support and the suspicion is coming from. Maybe this is just a case of everyone being lost, but with several people bothering to provide original and reasonably detailed arguments (TJ, Illwei before she backed off, Stick, Quinn, Araris), I don’t think that’s the case.

Votes Maill because the (extensive) assumptions she makes don’t line up with him being village. I am going Illwei Ash because it is the shrekking choice that actually has people on it who seemed to have arrived at conclusions in a manner other than sheeping, convenience, or no apparent methodology at all, and because the Maill wagon seems like a carnival of distraction which the Elims can only be gleefully happy about getting pushed forward with so little concrete evidence (a lot of “none,” “gut” and “what everyone else said” is present on that wagon). I don’t get the Quinn votes either. Illwei I’m happy to make a more thorough case against but this late in the day I doubt she’s getting shrekked. it’s 12:35 am, so goodnight EDIT: forgot to mention TJ and Stick are two of my strongest village reads, another reason I felt good about the Ash wagon, so yeah. Not sure what to make of Quinn, as I liked neither her analysis nor the points later raised against her

Also no multiquotes even though that’d be fun I’ve read through the thread and am slowly questioning all my prior reads except maybe Mat. I’m not sure where the pressure on Illwei went, since that’s still the person I’d most like dead, but if current vote counts are to be trusted suspicion has evaporated off her and onto her main accuser, Maill, who I think is good for reasons I will explain later but mostly for identifying Illwei as an excellent candidate for an active Eliminator early on. Because I’m comfortable leaving a vote there, Illwei, and after I’ve taken a chunk out of this five page essay, I’ll come back and see which of the viable alternatives to Maill I like the best. Fifth out.

I mean, with the people Quinn and Illwei mentioned (the two of them + Maill + Tani), and my current reads list, I'm 99% sure that there's already at least one Elim in that group, so maybe this is actually for the better if people are really being this loose with roleclaims, so at least the village can be privy to some of the information the Elims already know >> Edit: @TJ Shade, same

Kinda awkward to make a post claiming the Mistborn is evil and have it followed up by a post with a Mistborn claim and then support for it Hmm. No offence, I've not had much of a read on you all game, so just from the roleclaim I partially suspect you. Why did you kill Experience? Clarity on the Rioter stuff, or for another reason? @Quintessential you seem to have been a collaborator - insights? While I suspect you both less for taking it to the thread honestly, I'm not sure if that overrides my initial suspicion that XP was a good target for the Elims, and even if you are village, Tani, you've kind of outed yourself to the Elims the cycle we lost a Lurcher, so...I'm guess I'm just confused and would like explanations because clearly I'm out of all of the important PM loops How long must I endure this PM-unsafe generation? (just kidding, it took me a few times getting burnt by roleclaims to turn me into an Araris-style grouch about PM safety. Y'all are just too open sometimes though )

Bard is an experienced enough player to not go around claiming a protection role to the world, so I don't think there's a way the Elims could have found out he was a Lurcher barring a Seeker, and while Elim Seekers are common nowadays, Bard would just be...a weird target for that kind of role. There are plenty of people more active in PMs and the thread to check out first. Hard to rule out with a death this early in the game, though. If Bard was double-tapped, I think the writeup would tell us he was attacked and protected, and then died, if @Kasimir is still implementing the same policy as Meta in regard to these things. That'd also require there to be two Coinshots and a Mistborn, or two Mistborn who pulled Steel in the same cycle, which I find a tough sell in terms of sheer probability. The old and the young alike are not spared, it seems While Bard's death is definitely odd, I'm also a little confused by the Coinshots' (or Coinshot + Mistborn's) choice of targets. I'd have expected some of the more active suspected players (Illwei, Ash, TJ, Maill) to get hit, or one of the lesser actives (SoR, TUO). Pyro and Experience were semiactive null reads in my book, and just seemed like weird people to single out from the crowd (especially Experience, who was not up for the lynch and of whom I can recall almost no discussion other than the vote-manip thing). For that alone, I'd say that if a Mistborn!Elim made a kill here, it was probably on XP to eliminate a likely vote manipulator whilst giving minimal information to the village in terms of reads. The same Coinshot who took out Ventyl probably took Pyro down too, if their goal is reducing village confusion by getting answers on secondary wagons and IKYK-y players, and hopefully eventually one of those people will turn up evil

This week’s been very busy (writing this currently as I eat), and the weekend doesn’t look any easier, so I’ve been mainly responding to PMs during the Night turns, though I’m still reading the thread and trying to form what opinions I can. If you have specific questions, @‘ing me is going to be the easiest way I’ll see it if you want a public response. Otherwise, I’m still happy to talk in PMs even if I rarely start them

I have been super busy with classes hooray but I owe the world a post instead of using my 5-10 minute breaks to just PM people or jump in Discord and chat about random things so here we go. Don't expect a lot of multiquoting though because my brain is too tired (narrator: he then proceeded to multiquote) This post confuses the storms out of me so I guess we'll start with it. Assuming "Rando" is Random Bystander, Striker's argument is essentially that the elims were intending to go for low-profile targets (an assumption to begin with, given our sample size of one kill), and that an Elim team with an opportunity to kill Ventyl thus...wouldn't? I really don't understand the logic present in his hypotheticals, as elim teams are usually multiple people with varying opinions, so extrapolating the behaviour of one from a single kill to say that there's little chance of Ventyl being targeted just doesn't make sense to me. And to be clear, I agree that the Coinshot / Mistborn was likely village, mostly because I think any elim team had a strong incentive to avoid the IKYK trap that Ventyl was when he all but asked for protection, but Striker seems to be trying to push a sort of behavioural logic that doesn't apply. I'm not really suspicious (other than from my pre-existing suspicions of him) but it's something worth noting. The Stick vote is a lot more suspicious (seriously, what is it with people this game dropping poorly explained votes on Stick and backing off immediately?), even if it was retracted, and the logic here is even vaguer: "odd vibes" plus a valid take on the Coinshot is a weird combination for voting. Given that Stick remains one of the few people left doing cogent analysis, that she's a returning player and it's only D2, and also that she's of my few village reads, I'm not really happy with this vote on her (or Illwei's yesterday), and the quick retractions in both instances make me think one or both votes were designed to see if people would take them up, rather than being founded in actual suspicion. I mean, I'm reading Striker as mild elim, but I was under the distinct impression that none of the votes on Striker had terribly much reason, and just cited the "reasons" of other votes which were conspicuously absent (thinking @Quintessential's vote belongs to this category as well). So I'm left in this weird situation where I suspect Striker but don't like the reasons most people are voting for him? Huh. Switching from a returning player to a new one is a curious pivot, and I'm actually going to defend Tani; if anything, I get the feeling just as many elim teams would tell a newer member not to play up their newness because it attracts suspicion, and their actions have been consistent with a new player figuring things out and trying not to die or get killed. I don't trust Tani, but wouldn't say that any of the points raised against them have been AI either. Again, I'm very curious what Striker thinks about the practices of most eliminator teams, or whether he's just making these sweeping assertions with the idea of finding easy targets. The swing onto Ash was weird both in who did it and how quickly it happened; if for no other reason than that, I'm happy voting Striker to keep Ash alive, who's another of my village reads from last cycle, as well as for the reasons above from his posts (inciting wagons for weird reasons based off assumptions about elim teams he's constructed in his head). When I get the time I will probably take a look at the votes from this cycle but I need to get dinner so I'll leave a reads list here and be done with it.
