Are you talkin bout me! The bacon hater? I approve.

That's probably where the Dragonwasp thing started, but this was the original I think. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/2104-dragons-in-wok-spoilers/ This was his answer to the previous debate, wherein sweetness and I declared allegiance to either the Crabdragons or Crabwasps. The answer was the the creaters are neither wasps nor dragons. So Sweetness, there is precedent for for miniature dragons (Anne McCaffery). And these creatures are between the size of a hand (small like a wasp) and a melon (big like a miniature dragon). Let us extend the olive branch, join the Dragonwasp faction, and rise to power within KChan's Hierarchy (We can overthrow it later if we need to).

Ahhh gotcha, so maybe double Atium is better? I dont know which would be better, perfect health for your normal life, or require a super safe environment to live forever.

I think Nynaeve is going to figure out how to heal death, so he can live twice, since she's already shown precedent for breaking the rules of what can't be done and what is/is not possible. Also Rand has felt intuitively that with enough power he could heal death (With the Sa'Angreal and Asmodean in Ruhidean), so maybe she figures it out. And the three women around his funeral bier doesn't mean he doesn't live to a ripe old age with all of them, nor that his death isn't faked or something.

Would I be horribly inaccurate to believe that double gold twinborn is the best option here? I thought that was immortality, of a sort.

We take full blame, and responsibility for this. Edit: Me and Sweetness, I started it but now there are two three (thank you KChan for the third) options.

I awakened with the power to manipulate any image with my mind. Any image I wish becomes altered in any way at will.I am never recognizable on cameras, films, or identifiable by my fingerprints. Even DNA is unidentifiable as the image of them becomes altered to something not mine. I become a vigilante, fighting crime by taking images of individual criminals and plastering their faces across all images in all places until they are turned in. This cycle repeats as long as there are criminals/images of them.

I vote that one of the mod's who hates dragons edit that post to end up being about hello kitty, or Cawing, or ponies.

Welcome to the forums! We hope you enjoy the Q&A. Watch out for that Shivertongue guy.

Hello Mr. Sanderson, thank you so incredibly much for taking time out of your schedule for your fans, it is actions like these that make you a favorite author of your fans. Questions: 1) Are all of the orders of Knights Radiant human? 2) Are there non-human races on Roshar, or non-humanoid races that are sentient? 3) You said that Preservation created the Terris Prophecies. Why couldn't ruin see into the future and counter Preservation's plan? Is it because Ruin's intent has him focusing more on the present than the future, while Preservation (wanting to preserve forever) looks more into the future for that goal.

I have the ability to convert reading hours into sleeping hours, at roughly a 50% rate. I can read for four hours and sleep for four hours, and it is roughly equivalent to my sleeping for six hours at least I feel that way. As I near something like six hours, or even eight though that system starts to break down.

I would like to announce that I bought my first Terry Pratchett book today, as well as two more collections of Glen Cook books. I also asked my girlfriend to marry me, and she said yes so that's cool too.

September 3 - Shadow - The Swords of Essence Chapter 1
JamesW replied to Shadow's topic in Reading Excuses
If you want to read/critique people's works, you can PM Silk and ask to be put on the mailing list. Each week people who are submitting send out one email that goes to everyone on that list. Throughout the next week people can read and critique the other submissions and post in the appropriate thread. On a side note, most authors don't mind sending a copy of a particular chapter or submission to those who just joined, the more feedback the better. -
That's odd that you are writing in a world without metal, because that's one of the premises of my story, except that metal comes to the world through meteorites and such (In such quantities that it is rare, but not impossible to acquire). How do you handle such things like shaping of stone, or buildings? Is everything made of stone or wood, and if so how inhibited is progress by the lack of metal? Are they stone age people or have they advanced past this using crystal or other materials. Just another point, if you're using a resource that functions in every way like metal, and essentially replaces it in society, then it probably isn't pulling it's weight as a building block of the world. There is a rule about having something novel for novelties sake. Just because you can do something different, it has to has a reason beyond being different. Also, I answered these questions in my own work by integrating the lack of metal into the magic system, and making it an integral part of my society/magic system. I gave the world a reason for not having metal, and fitted that in with the mythology of the world itself.

I just started re-reading Glen Cook's "The Black Company" series again. I remember how fantastic this series is, and regret that I have only read it once. My Ipod died so my ability to continue my WoT re-read was put on indefinite hiatus.

Smart person, an idiot might find a way to mess it up even knowing what to do. At least a smart person has a chance of not irredeemably failing. Would you rather be mediocre friends with everyone around you, or best friends with a single person but have everyone else hate you?
-
Yeah that was my intent, if one forsakes books, they can't read them using technology
-
No Hearing, I like seeing stuff. Would you rather give up technology, or give up books? This includes using technology to read books.

The shannara series was one of my first introductions into epic fantasy, and still holds a special place in my heart to this day. Brooks admits that the first book bears some strong similarities to LOTR, but I really enjoy them. As you read through the series connections between books and times start to be connected, and you see some of the consequences from several hundred years ago. Not as pronounced as some books, but it is still a great read. And you are correct, as you progress in the series it does get much better, though Wishsong is still one of my favorites.

Well, it could be something so simple as them being unable to directly influence his timeline, so they have to go about it in a roundabout way. That's the most plausible explanation for it that I can think of off the top of my head. Just a mention of why this isn't possible would be enough for the readers, and would help propel them into this jaunt through time.

It was quite a good chapter piece, certainly whetted my appetite for the last book, guess it'll have to hold me over until 2013!
