  1. "Please," said Jacob, still absentmindedly. He walked over to Max and tapped him on the shoulder, sampling some of the black licorice helicopter while he waited.
  2. Jacob took some of the soda absentmindedly, continuing to write down notes on the party.
  3. Jacob ignored the partygoer, who had taken out an umbrella and was backing away warily.
  4. The rain bounced off Jacob, leaving no mark or stain.
  5. Jacob appeared, writing furiously on his clipboard.
  6. Unfortunately for him, the mimes ripped the helicopter blades apart as they flew by them. The helicopter plunged to the ground and landed in the middle of the party.
  7. Two mimes arrived in a helicopter made out of licorice.
  8. The grass began to turn brown and wither, as though it had spent days in a hot summer sun.
  9. The laugh began to become distorted, twisting in ways no voice should. Slowly, it faded to silence.
  10. A high, cold laugh filled the air, seeming to echo from every direction at once.
  11. Jacob sighed once, then wrote something down on his clipboard, vanishing just as he had earlier.
  12. Jacob wrote down every word but did not say anything.
  13. "The Unmade," explained Draug. "Normally, she catches all oathbreakers." He sighed mournfully. "Usually, she is the cause as well."
  14. "No," said Jacob simply, writing down some notes.
  15. Jacob appeared in front of Granite, the odd smile still on his face.
  16. Nekorb overheard the words and swallowed. She was right, they were similar. Hopefully, that was where the similarities ended. He still had nightmares from his time in captivity, even if he could not remember most of it.
  17. Draug leaned back in his chair, "How...?" he mumbled, half to himself. Suddenly, something occurred to him. "Sha-thoexis hasn't taken you. How...?"
  18. Jacob wrote something down on his clipboard, smiled once in an odd way, and then vanished from Jaywalk's castle.
  19. Draug exhaled, sitting down heavily in the nearest chair. "Oh." He took a deep breath. "How... how did it happen?"
  20. Jacob was busy measuring the exact dimensions of one of the columns. "No," he muttered, writing down the measurements and moving on to the next thing.
  21. Draug looked around, worry spreading over his face. "I don't understand. What- what happened?"
  22. Jacob wrote down a few descriptive words then turned back to his inventory of the guards.
