There was the sound of footsteps on the stairs as Capodota emerged from the basement. His eyes widened near-imperceptibly as he caught sight of Gerald.
"Why, where did you come across this fine specimen of Cephalopoda?" he asked.
"I guess?" said Gerald. "Obviously she wound up here, eventually."
"I'm going to need a bit more explanation, too," said Gerald, scratching his noggin. "What exactly have you two been up to?"
"I'm no historian," said Gerald, scratching his head, "but I think that Y stole X's powers- except they were X's avatar's powers, that's right. I think she traded for them, actually."
