wait holy crap i just realized i haven’t raved about Outer Wilds to you guys yet
holy crap it’s the greatest game i’ve ever played. so far beyond anything else ever. play it. seriously. if you never play any other video game ever you have to play Outer Wilds. I don’t know how to convince you of this better, but you literally have to play it. I say this with all the fervor and passion i possibly can. I say it with more enthusiasm than I do when recommending sanderson. I say it with all the rhetoric i can possibly muster. play. this. game.
A quick guide:
1. DO NOT LOOK UP ANYTHING. EVER. This isn’t just a “best experienced by going in blind” scenario, it’s a “LEARNING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME AT ALL WILL DIMINISH THE EXPERIENCE TO A MASSIVE DEGREE” scenario.
Don’t watch the trailers. (especially the one for the nintendo switch port, that trailer actually just spoils things.)
Don’t look up guides. (even ‘spoiler-free’ ones)
Don’t look up how to do something if you get stuck, even if you think you know everything already and can’t possibly be spoiled because you’ve figured it all out (you haven’t)
Don’t read the steam reviews, don’t look at game art, don’t look at the genre tags, don’t look at average playtime don’t look at ANYTHING. Spend as little time on the store page as you can, just click ‘add to cart’ and get out.
If it isn’t in the game itself, don’t look at a single thing relating to this game.2. Wear headphones the music is really good
3. Don’t buy the DLC until after you’ve finished the base game (because you will want to buy the DLC)
4. If you ever find yourself getting frustrated, enjoy it. Every single person who has played this game wishes they could experience it for the first time again. Every. Single. Person. Those moments of frustration are precious and few, don’t ruin them by looking up a guide.
That is all.
